I’ll have to go test ride some, see whats what, I fitted 170mm’s to my Guapo – that had BB height issues. Didnt like it..

Yeah, defo not braking as much as I thought I would, been to stiniog too before – although not as long-a run, so never had the problem there.
Ride weekly or as much as I can mainly North Downs Peaslake etc, so not rocky or as fast as BPW..
was pumping and flowing as much as my “talent” could handle, thinking the skinny grips dont help. They are the Renthal Kevlar job’s. bout 6 months old.
Going back in May, so gonna try a few set ups and see what happens.

    Peace out.

Purposely not gripping bar too tight, As have suffered in the past, Moved lever reach in a touch which helped. Was a good day anyway, Chased down some bigger bikes too!

My main concern was that feeling it in my finger joints (more than anything)

Possibly, Mainly xc/singletrack duties, which is whats local to me. Dont think the bike was under biked yesterday, Although did give it a hammering!

Wow. 5 pages of crap and a hate campaign?? Surely the op was merely pointing out to people who have actually been riding the trail regularly (not on youtube) that the trail has changed, and to be aware??

Surely this thread has run its course and shud be closed??

I run the SLX, no bite point adjust, just lever reach, Must say out of the rest of the brakes ive owned these are the best….
(previous brakes: Hope tech x2, M4,Tech M4’s,Hayes Strokers, and Formula Mega’s)
Small lever, plenty of power! no squeel. can be a little fiddly to bleed.

Measured bb drop, with the above set up its around 2-3mm drop. And bb height of just over 13″. That compare?? Or shud I be trying to contact on-one again??

I bought my Guapo in OCt 2012 – was apparently a V3 2013 version in orange (full orange rear end)
Running an on-one smoothie mixer headset on it, I was running a 150mm Fox Float fork with std 175mm cranks, 2.1″ tyres. And was suffering a lot with pedal strikes. Reading the reviews I changed fork to a 160mm Fox float, Due to the stanchion height (A2C)it raised the front end by around 20mm, and also BB was raised by about 10mm..
Havent measured actual BB drop yet..

After all this crap when round at the back end of last year, I rang on-one to ask about a low BB issue, got through to the technical help dude (cant remember his name) but he said “there is no issue that he’s heard of regarding BB height).

I personally would like some official clarification of this from On One. Again there are lots of factors that can influence BB height (sag, tyre size, fork, crown stack etc etc), the bike is recommended to ride with a 160mm fork, which I did and seemed to cure the issue?

Any one else in the same boat?

I run a 1×10 on my El Guapo. with a 32t blackspire chainring on front, short cage rear mech and 12-36 rear cassette. And as Ed Oxley said “if I cant ride up it with that, I’ll be goin soo slow I may as well push!” (Or something along those lines).

Plus with no front mech shifter you can mount your reverb remote on the left.!. win

I hate the fact that we’ve all had christmas rammed down our throat by the goverment,tv and radio since october! when they started playing christmas songs etc.. All in a vein hope that we would go ouy early and feed the hiuge debt machine that is the uk economy (spend more early…). all that just for one day..

Christmas gets better as you get older, i get to be santa for my 2 year old now!

I removed mine, and reseated – but as you say easy to fit to (tubeless rims – 819’s). think around 30Psi they popped onto the bead/rim. Sealed.
Took it for a spin after adding approx 1.5 scoops of Stand Fluid. appears hard still.
(also did the raindance shake again!)

Hoping to go ride this afternoon – in the wet!

Its more all over the main body of the tyre, could rub it off and smells like stans. Will take it for a ride, n see how it goes..

Just added another cup of sealant, should have explained – not actually riding with 40-45Psi. normally run around 30-35psi. Was pumping up to 40Psi to get beads to pop and seal. I’ve run the wheel through a bucket of water looking for bubbles but cant see any other than tiny tiny ones on the side wall.

More Sealant rain dance me thinks!. before lobbing a tube in there.

Edit: the front tyre is fine – no white on the tread (both new!)

I’ve just fitted the on one smoothie mixer headset, which has around a 10mm bottom stack height so raising the front. frame seems pretty slack enough with just the 150mm float (taken from a trek remedy). will give it a propper ride this weekend.

Rode Degla a few weeks back and Cannock last year, Degla is much better although a bit smoother but much more on the grin factor – jumps and flow if you add all the Black bits to the Red. Didnt like Cannock – braking bumps bigger than a big thing on almost every corner due to people skidding I can only presume. Oh and the trail is armoured to death with polished smooth stones.. was sliding all over the place in the wet.

Preferred Degla, but much more of a drive!

    Bumpy Posty..

Am eyeing up a 2013 El Guapo.. From what I’ve looked at on the Geometry the BB heigh is only 2mm lower than my 2011 REmedy. Are they causing people problems being low??

I’m looking at running a 150mm fork too.. (tapered) any ideas on headset choice? Understand the frame is a 1.5″ top and bottom?
Anyone running a 150mm fork? thoughts, feedback?

Also Sizing: I’m 5ft9 and leg 31″.. Medium frame??
    Cheers

Yeah though that the case, have heard a lot of “depends how well you get on with your LBS” , Just thought rules is rules. lol

Will see what they say tomorrow – got possible carbon de-lamination around BB.

Hmm, ok – so how about a 5/10 baron compared to a 5/10 impact. They seem ideal. Less clunky than an impact. still grippy as s@#t..
    And red..

    Anyone running barons?

Hmm, I like the Teva’s . Not that fussed on weight of shoes. something a little less chunky than the impacts would be nice. I like the barons you selling “crashtestmonkey”. i’m about an 8.5ish. Will check the size of my 510’s.

Swinley done today.. Get there for 9am. not very busy.

Weather held out (almost) had some rain. But still managed to have enough grip for some giggles.

Must say, compared to some other trail centres I’ve visited – everyone was nice n friendly. Said Hi when you did! etc etc..
Some good flowy single track (if you know where to find it!!) We managed to stumble on quite a bit of it.

    No worries. Cheers guys..

Any info on named trail sections would be good – start points? havent been to Swinley before.

I’ve had the hope Tech X2’s and Tech M4’s. Personally think the Tech X2’s are better than the Tech 4 (lighter too)

BUT I have recently bought the new SLX Ice Tech brakes, and would rate them better then the Tech X2’s. probably more power, better modulation (for me) just lacks the free stroke control.
    Easy bleeding, shortening etc.
    Would go for the XT’s…

(edit: hopes are a nice bit of engineering and machining!)

Yeah, chain is only a couple of rides old, new chainring, and yeah shortened chain by 2 links. Will have a play with spacers to straighten it all out.

    Stumpjumper

x9 rear mech (Long Cage I think).
Yeah middle posn chainring with spacers. Just didnt inspire confidence having to space chainring in.
When I fitted the std chainring, with shifter pins and ramps I didnt have the problem (without spacing the chainring). just running bash, and prototype inner chain guide (upper) if I had bottom guide on the Hope reckon it would be ok.

Cheers, Too rocky? The first section of trail “through the forks” is the worst. I got pinch flatted on my conti mtn kings last time I went within a mile.. lol

I went with a set of Conti Mtn King Supersonics (this time last year) pi55ed it down all weekend. Something with a large carcass is the way to go, rocks galore…
We did the TARW trail, as we had heard it had been regraded to black. DO NOT bother.. lots and lots of climbing for minimal singletrack! (downhill fireroads and uphill singletrack!??!)
    Very slippery when wet..

Nevegals for me – (Tomac DTC jobbies next time)

Car park sucks!! would advise getting there early too.

Its a good crack for a few hours – very pedally without much decent elevation. BUT there is some good singletrack.
Me and my brother were there are the weekend on probably overkill bikes (Trek Fuel EX8 and Enduro SL). BUT still had a good laugh you can really hammer the trail as long as people dont get in the way.

Hardly any northshore to speak of, the small freeride area with some good berms and jumps is worth sessioning.
Black run aint really worth talking about, just a very small berm into a few foot drop (hence what makes it black).

Most of the trails are linked by fire road, so you can rerun what you like. It is a little rutted in places but then thats what full suss is for!..

You can (I think) park on the entrance road to Bedgebury in one of the small layby’s if you can find them. avoiding £8.50!

No worries, I did wonder – as I’ve not heard it before..
