Dougal – NASCAR is not motor racing

???, if there's more than one on a pre defined circuit and they have wheels and engines then surely it's motor racing 😯

flange -I think the biggest upset will be when they find Armstrong guilty

will that happen? isn't he the most tested sportsman in history?

i wondered if anyone would notice! anyway, not really, it's just a follow on from the original theory for me….. as in hammering it round a trail centre makes me feel alive, standing in the garage looking at it don't do a lot!

trolling? not me… my brother wound me up with an urelated phone call, this was the first post i read afterwards so now i'm "venting".

as for riding, the knees are still recovering from yesterday and i want a new bike now don't i!

rOcKeTdOg – so happy familys should be banned from riding or stopped because they haven't spent enough on their bicycles?

no, i was just adding more insult to my message to get you to bite back! however my implication was that not-serious mtb owning family guy hears of a new local trails, dusts off the apollos and breaks his leg!

rOcKeTdOg – it's an open access trail isn't it?

it is indeed and there are also plenty of signs warning of what to expect and plenty of alternative routes to go and play happy families if you don't like it.

rOcKeTdOg – i think newbies should be encouraged, how is anyone going to get better if they are not allowed to ride more challenging tracks

exactly, except it seems these rollers were too challenging and now they've made them less challenging, so yes….. how is anyone going to get better?

go and see jedi. forget what you know, listen and do as he says. best £70 i spent in biking.

iain… shhh! 🙂 yeah that's the one i take, can't help thinking though that if you come a cropper down there you could be there for days before being discovered 😯

i wondered if they where still building where that bit of fire road is. i too take a cheeky trail but i do like that big dip that you have to ride as fast as you dare in order to get back up the other side 😀

    and more…

_tom_ – the last section of rollers puts a smile on my face, the effortless feeling of weightlessness is so nice Can't wait to get back there soon

unfortunately, whilst still there, the rollers have been toned down as too many clueless idiots were coming to grief, i'm no superhero but it pisses me off that this stuff gets changed so that some happy family can go down it on their matching father and son apollos without getting hurt.

and while i'm having a dig

Ti29er – I also gather it's jammed packed pretty much most of the time now

where did you gather that from then? i was up there yesterday morning and no probs. to many people want the perfect trail and don't want anyone else to ride it. have you considered taking up knitting, i'm sure you can get oversized titanium needles!

Ti29er – every 5 minutes all you're treated to is another bank where they ran out of ideas and added yet more switch-backs

hmmm! so how many different ways are there of going up?

it's still a shit rule but fair play it was there waiting for me at 0900 this morning, thrashed tested it on ftd and the monkey, did some cheeky trails and even a couple of runs at stile cop before returning it as received albeit with a bit of dirt splattered here and there, 30 quid well spent.

nah mate still going for a paddle, bike is booked for 0900 sunday 30th. i'd say come along but you've got 2 hopes of getting your arse out of bed and up to cannock by 9 😆

TheLittlestHobo, it's a mountain bike, it's not rocket science or even a van. if the bike gets damaged beyond repair before next sunday, i expect a phone call and accept the situation, if it just needs a part that they haven't got then they could nick it off a showroom bike or from stock…. i'm sure they wouldn't be the first to do that!

they're not lending and it's not FOC, it's one of their demo fleet advertised on their website that you book for 3 or 6 hours and pay accordingly.

as for abuse, these are top line bikes from an experienced dealer based at a well known trail centre, they know exactly what the bikes will be put through and in any case you leave a £100 deposit.

rules are fine, but they should at least have some constructive basis to them! 🙂

just phoned again, spoke to a different chap who confirmed the policy, tried to book it for next thursday, it's booked out so i've got it booked for sunday morning. but how can i book it for sunday when they're not going to know whether it's gonna be damaged or not? and presumably no-one can book it for saturday now because i've got it sunday!

surely it'd be better to just let it go out when it's available, service it when it comes back and if it's irreparable then just phone the next booking and tell them! simples!

curiosity got the better of me so i checked it out. £50 for 30 days will cost you £15. approx 10 times more expensive than a credit card.

i know it's legal and theoretically anyone using the service should be able to think for themselves, it just strikes me that for anyone resorting to using it…the only way is down!

i don't think it's misleading, though someone with bad eyesight might think it says a fully respectable 23.56%! nope, it's honest and up front…two thousand three hundred and fifty six percent, bargain.

if you are in the unfortunate position that you have to use this service you can rest assured that by the time you've repaid your short term loan you'll be right back at the start of shit creek!

should be better cos it's so tight but so far this season f1 without rain has been pretty dull.

    ???

reign = 6.0 inches of travel, triple front chain ring.

reign x = 6.7 inches of travel, double front chain ring.

assuming x is running a 9 speed cassette coupled with more travel would indicate it's less capabale of going up hill and more capable of going down them.

look, there is no gesture. these people still get their mp's salary, the ministerial bit is extra… a bit like overtime. they haven't even been paid it yet so where is the sacrifice? i'd be more than happy to sacrifice 100% of what i haven't got.

    psychle

aye, that's good to hear, but the question hasn't been answered, what colour socks are you going to wear today? And did you get any sleep for worrying about it?

well it seems the washing service isn't working (i'll have to have a word with mrs mcgroo), went to the drawer, no white, pink, paisley or flowered just black 😥

eventually got some sleep after i finally worked out what brand of car shampoo i shall use on sunday and whether or not it was ok to put an empty tuna can in the recycle bin 🙄

rOcKeTdOg, that photo doesn't do justice to my fluorescent yellow socks or the 30ft road gap jump 😕

EDIT: and ffs don't let jedi see it… wrists and heels up! he'll give me a bollocking 😳

bear-uk – Only way to do this is by the book, this means getting estate agents involved.

    er… why?
the only role the estate agent plays is to put the buyer and seller in touch with each other. that bit is already done.

as for value, the one document which adds value to land is planning permission. no planning permission means no development means no way to make money which means it's worth very little.

this guy wanted to make money for nothing and it hasn't worked. there is no market for a strip of ex-garden other than back to owner of the rest of the garden which is you and your neighbours. you have this guy by the bollocks, either he makes a (very) little amount of money now or dies and passes his useless land on to his kids. you'll need a solicitor which costs money so bear that in mind and seriously you should be offering him a nominal amount and tell him you're doing him a favour. (which you would be!)

    toxicsoks –
    I've never ridden/owned a FS.

that'd a lot of money to spend when you haven't even checked out the oposition!

i'm in two minds about orange. each manufacturer has their own take on rear suspension and several, inc. the biggest giant and trek, utilise the same suspension design across their whole range just changing geometry for 4", 5", 6" travel and so on.

orange offer three different rear suspension systems, obviously trying to cover all bases but logoc tells me they can't all be right. if they're so sure 5 is the best, where does that leave st4 and blood? just a theory and i stand to be corrected.

just heard the interview with her and gordo, reminded me of my own bigoted mother, she believes everything she reads in the daily express too! didn't matter what gordo said she wasn't going to listen, the only thing he did wrong was apologise.
