you gotta get out, seriously, like roper says 8 hours is a huge part of your life, if you don’t enjoy it you’re going to get deeper and deeper into that rut. if you genuinly can’t just walk out (mortgage, kids, partner not working etc) then at least start the ball rolling to move on, even that can help.

Never mind the sale, apparently the next task for the rescuers of the Chilean miners is to visit Anfield and advise Roy Hodgson on how to get out of a fncking big hole before Christmas.

my advice when it comes to product selection is to use magazines to gather information on what is available but take any rating with a bucket of salt and attempt to try/view before you buy.

had a go on a 900ss many years ago, “warp speed” is not a term i’d associate with it, walk speed maybe!

rOcKeTdOg – it hurts more 48 hrs afer than it does 24 hrs after

came off in low speed front wheel wash out on tuesday night, felt ok yesterday, flippin aches today…why the gap??

that makes me feel worse now… i was on the way home on tuesday night thinking how bad i was for laughing before you’d even stopped sliding on your arse… so, sorry about that… on saying that it was a good off.

don’t watch the news or read any newspapers, they all put their spin on it, trying to make a story out of nothing, ignore it and you’ll have a happier life.

mountain biking as a religion? nah, wouldn’t work would it? it’s real, to be a proper religion it needs to be made up bollocks… second thoughts some of the stories on here might qualify!

been riding it for a few weeks now and thoroughly enjoying it, hoses now proper length, gears working perfectly (though haven’t needed to get out of middle ring yet) and fitted some proper tyres yesterday as conditions are getting a little sticky, got up at 7 today (sunday 03/10/10) and it’s obviously monsoon season so it’s staying in the garage.

i’m trying to resist drawing this out any further but how on earth can you critisise me for using the term “low-life murdering scum” when you see it ok to say “nutter” and “mad”

it’s impossible to have logical debate with someone with double and ever changing standards.

    i’m out of here.

    i’m with you tj.

for you elfinsafety, the recent “facts” as i know them are one victim dead, one victim with life changing gun-shot injuries and one victim recovering from gun-shot injuries. one dead perpetrator. under the circumstances i would say this was the best outcome.

right, they are indeed the words of rauol moat but that’s not what you are claiming, where does that say “he was a person who’d been diagnosed with mental illness”

yes i express my opinion whereas you quote “fact” and “truth” so come on just let us all know where you are getting your reliable information.

    StuMcGroo

Elfinsafety – From the fact that he was a person who’d been diagnosed with mental illness, had tried to tell people he was ill, but wasn’t given the treatment he asked for.

hold on, hold on, answer the question… where did you get “the truth” from?

the bloke was low-life murdering scum.

Or a person with severe mental illness who’d tried to get help but had been ignored…

    yeah if you like.

EDIT: we’re lead to believe he had a specific problem with police officers, sounds a bit to selective just to be put down to mental illness!

do you think pc david rathband or the relatives of chris brown give a flying **** about how legal the taser was, as far as i’m concerned they should have run a **** tank through the area he was held up in, the bloke was low-life murdering scum.

cheers_drive – so I’ll have to make do with my rigid 29er for now.

i recently built a rigid 29er on a fairly tight budget, with a view to getting an anthem 29er (when i thought they’d be about £2200), at first i was sceptical about it, especially the rigid forks, but i’m absolutely loving it and been wondering whether i’d bother going the fs route, though admittedly i’m only doing xc stuff with nothing too gnarly. :-)

    StuMcGroo

Rorschach – But you do get lots of deore stuff on the anthem for your £2950 tho. Bargain .

is it? look here[/url] at giants own web page on the anthem 29er, the features on the right contradict the spec on the left, which is correct? personally i don’t think either is good value, i priced up a niner jet 9 self-build on another thread at £2830!

i have recently noticed a new phenonemon where these “modern men” are actually now riding their new purchases, complete with Tour de France replica kit, looking slightly out of place on a bike that seems ready to buckle under the strain 8O

thisisnotaspoon – Presumably thats the smallest/most compact we’re ever going to see?

i hope not, i’d like to see something alfine sized built into an oversized bb, would be easy for all frame manufacturers to adapt their current range, would be more conventional looking and in my opinion be more pleasing on the eye.

on saying that, this looks like a step in the right direction though i’d prefer a rapid fire shifter and single cable (or two cables within one outer???) :-)

Stu McGroo – i reckon you can get pretty close building your own bike up… and it’s more fun

as i said this i thought i’d see if it was possible. getting uk prices off the internet and not digging too deep this is what i came up with; niner jet 9 frame (inc.fox shock and headset), rockshox rebas, race face stem, post and bars, superstar spacers, ragley clamp, dt swiss rims and spokes, bontrager mud x tyres and tubes, slx hubs and groupset, m595 brakes, superstar grips, charge saddle and dmr v8’s all for £2878.30 there might be 2 or 3 p&p’s to add in and i’d need to get the wheels built up but looks good value compared to an off-the-peg giant…i.m.o. :-)

hmmm, some good points there except for rOcKeTdOgs ugly comment

anyway, wasn’t really a direct comaprison psychle just using giants own prices which i think i pretty valid.

good idea about the free holiday tegski

bream yes you can, several in fact, i like niners which i thought were expensive but if the anthem 29er is the benchmark i reckon you can get pretty close building your own bike up… and it’s more fun :D

i did a comparison a month or so ago with the 2010 oz range against ours, can’t remember which model i highlighted (and 2010 bikes are now deleted) but basically a au$3500 rrp oz bike was on sale in the uk for £2200 rrp (identical spec), so the £2950 must be down to giant thinking it’s gonna be a big market and they want to cash in! fair play but at that price my cash is staying in my pocket :|

    StuMcGroo

au$3499 is rrp from giant australia website… says it may be cheaper in some areas depending on transit costs.

so, you've always wanted a bike, you buy it, pass your test, spend untold amounts of money on a succession of bikes and kit for the next ten years then knock it all on the head, you don't miss it and on reflection you decide that it wasn't actually that good and then everytime you see a biker you ask yourself why? why? why?

oh sorry, no you don't that was just me

i bought an iphone 4 on 3 last week, been working out in the sticks with one bar at best and occasionally dropping out but then so did my o2.

asked my 18 year old niece if any of her mates were on 3, she said "no, none of them, 3 is rubbish" so if they're not on 3 how do they know?

i wonder how many other people comment based on what they've heard rather than what they've experienced.

too much sh!t to carry… imo

EDIT: and too far to carry it, and too many rules about where and when, and the terrain don't change much, still imo though :D
