Personally I find the gaps a little too large on my Alfine 8, however, I haven’t the legs for SS so coupled with my rigid frame it’s my best compromise option for a low maintenance/trouble free winter bike. Quite fancy an 11, for extra ratios and right-way-round shifting but can’t justify it just to sit in the garage at the mo.

    Er… surely it’s 2 from 5!

if Blackpool, Wigan and Blues all win and Wolves and Blackburn draw their game then they both go down!

Nick, you’re passing within 5 miles so it’s well worth a look. Dry as a bone at the moment. As you don’t know the area I’d suggest parking at Swinnertons at doing both Follow the Dog and The Monkey Trail, which splits left on one of the sections and is well signposted. Enjoy.

mboy – So then Stu, ya lanky sod, when we going riding again next? You free next week at all? I’m not busy all next week, back to work following Monday though… Fancy a ride somewhere?

no can do mate, too much work on

Cheers ton, that rOcKeTdOg, he don’t know shit

Actually it ain’t the prettiest of bikes but it’s nice to ride and puts a huge smile on my face. Being an XL it’s also massive, fits me just fine and dwarfs the on-one in the garage (I’ll post a photo when I want to bump this thread back up  )

As for going “straight in with a Niner eh!” yep, I like their philosophy, fortunately I like their bikes too, when the dust has settled (if you know what I mean  ) I might see about swapping that Inbred frame for a SIR9 or ONE9 but for now I’m just gonna have a blast :D

Finally, I can post on my own thread! After getting battered to death riding my rigid inbred at Penmachno a couple of months back, my enthusiasm to get a full sus 29er was re-kindled and here it is. Had it a week and ridden it a few times with a whacking great smile on my face. love it. :D

built this last year for about 700 quid. frame, fork, wheels and saddle were a s/h job lot off here, the rest was brand new from merlin.

swapped the 3×10 slx for 8 speed alfine a few month ago

only been riding for 14 months so haven’t got much to compare it with. irons out the bumps and is much smoother than previous orange evo, even with rigid forks. no grumbles about the handling, it’s perfect for the majority of my riding which is off-piste at cannock, wouldn’t mind if it was a few lbs lighter. took it to penmachno and though there were several of us on rigid 29ers by the end of the ride it had worn me down so looking for bounce at both ends before i go back but that will be an additional bike to this one, not instead of.

why cheap? are you looking to dip a toe in the 29er water to see if it’s warm enough? if so sam from singular made a good point on here a few months back. something along the lines of people wanting to try a 29er get hold of a £400 bike only to be disappointed with heavy weight and slow handling compared to their £2000 26er! if you’re testing the water, better to get a decent demo. imo.

put a wanted on here for white/silver washers, that’s how i bought green/blue.

is 11 different to 8? i got hold of green/blue because i originally wanted to run my 8 cable up the seat stay of my slot drop inbred, it looked shit so in the end i used white/silver and routed along the chain stay.

we stayed here last year, nice location, pedal a bike is 5-10 minutes drive away, on the down side the toilet/shower block could do with a proper clean (minimum requirement for us, so we ain’t going back), there’s plenty of staff but i think as it’s part of a chain then they don’t give a shit.

am i right in thinking that howard hughes shot hells angels as a silent movie, it took so long to make that in the meantime technology had advanced and by the time it was ready for release silent movies were oboslete. he re-shot the whole movie with sound but had to replace his leading lady as she looked the part but sounded awful!

apparently it was gonna be called

“four old bags who get off on double entendres and suggestive talk but would run a mile if you got your cock out unless they were pre-occupied with coronation street or other celebrity bollocks”

but “loose women” was more catchy.

hot water takes priority over central heating so when you run the hot tap, heating is switched off. after you turn the hot water tap off the burners stay on to pre-heat water ready for the next draw off, sometimes referred to as the “keep hot facility”. after a few seconds the burners will extinguish or revert back to heating mode.

Most of them also pay a boat load if tax every week on those astronomical wages

    Really?

yes really… as employees of football clubs, players are on paye so they pay all the tax due on their salary’s and any appearance bonus. of the £250,000 a week rooney receives from man utd he probably sees less than half.

the bit in the press above relates to the fees the players get outside of their employment for product endorsements etc, that is effectively self employment so they can be more creative with accounting.

there’s not really any comparison between footballers salaries and bankers bonus’s, the football clubs are private companies whereas we own most of the banks!

along the chain stay i run my cable inside a neoprene protector and on the down tube i have it taped every six inches to the rear brake hose with black insulation tape, seems quite effective as i’ve been asked a couple of times how i’m enjoying my singlespeed? added a couple of photos, you can’t see much but then there ain’t much to see.

alternatively, what about these self adhesive cable guides

Admiralable – I know that the Mail would probably love a story where a 9 year old is sworn at by a shop employee

i live 30 seconds away and don’t bother.

there are some routes through pitcheroak, however, if you start at the foxylidiate and stay that side of the dual carraigeway there’s a single track going all the way up birchfield road, at the back of the houses.

then get on the tarmac and head past the water tower, there’s a couple of routes in the (co-op) wood there that brings you out above tesco.

more tarmac to rough hill wood, probably the best and least populated place to ride.

then another tarmac run to walkood coppice, just above morton stanley park where you can get a single track all the way down to green lane.
