Was having trouble with my Elixer R’s for a few months, kept getting air in them and wouldn’t bleed according to instructions, then the pistons wouldn’t return. I was told (by an LBS mechanic) that 2010’s are problematical, something to do with seals in levers and calipers. In the end I gave up and changed them for a set of 2012 XT’s from Rose Bikes, bargaintastic and the best brakes I’ve had.

Stu McGroo – Just an old wannabe!

Though I am now booked on a uplift day at Arthur Stinky Dog on Sunday. With a warm-up session at Deggy tomorrow it should be a good weekend. As long as it doesn’t end like my last bit of downhilling 5 week ago!

Rosss – This is definitely a dis-orientated forum

FTFY. The thing I dislike about Ride IO is the 42 sub forums. Just because the system allows it doesn’t mean you have to use it! Keep it simple.

Thanks for the replies, it wasn’t a troll and I know there have been lots of threads but the facts do tend to get lost in a multitude of differing opinions and this thread is no different.

I’m not a fan of the testimony-by-a-confessed-cheat-for-a-lesser-sentence approach to justice which is why I asked the original question.

No, I prefer the dopers to actually get caught, or at least confess to it. You know, like Jacques Anquetil, Lucien Aimar, Lius Ocana, Eddy Merchx, Bernard Thevenet, Joop Zoetemelk, Laurent Fignon, Pedro Delgado, Miguel Indurain, Bjarne Riis, Jan Ullrich, Marco Pantani, Floyd Landis and Alberto Contador. And they’re just the TdF winners!

grum – I did hear some rumours about them snapping but I couldn’t find much info on it at all.

2010 Tues 1 chain stays I understand, fixed for 2011. Tues 1 remains in the line up, with upgraded components for 2013, alongside the Tues 2.0 and also ridiculously good value at €1899 or just over 1500 of your English pounds.

b r – IME they’re cheaper if you are paying yourself

I agree, hence, at the town vet the first question after your name and address is usually “do you have insurance?”

mikewsmith – Country Vets massivly undercharge and get away with it by paying their staff less. Town vet fees cost normally what it costs. (Again inside perspective)

Both charge what they can get away with. (inside perspective)

Move to the country and use a proper “farmers” vet, if they charged ridicoulus prices they’d soon be out of business. Town vets fees have gone through the roof because because the insurance companies are footing the bill before passing it onto the gullible ones!!

Had four dogs over the last 23 years and never had insurance, dog three was ill before he died last year and we had something like a £1500 vets bill, still not as much as if I’d paid insurance for the 14 years of his life.

colournoise – ‘Kit Bag Hill’ (Strava name – bit after the level crossing between end of the Monkey and rejoining the Dog singletrack – no idea how universal that name is)

Official “Kit Bag Hill” Unofficial “5hit Bag Hill”

Bernaard – Get yourself a SS rigid and pretend it’s 1930

    FTFY

ASC – the locals can be really grumpy

I noticed that, usually at about half nine on a Sunday morning in the vicinity of MD!

To continue the off topic conversation, I dislike a technical climb less than I dislike a straight fire road climb simply because I’ve got something to think about and take my mind off the fact that I’m riding uphill

In my opinion it’s well designed to make good use of the available landscape. It’s downfall for me was that parts of the new stuff (Monkey and end of the Dog) started falling apart as soon as it was opened. I’ve heard that local materials were used in it’s construction to satisfy the “green” contingent but alas think it’s been a victim of it’s own success, a huge catchment area means the place is packed at the weekends and probably sees much more midweek traffic than other trail centres too and it just hasn’t been up to it!

At 45, just made a career change back to engineering after 8 years self employment as a property developer. One of our designers was taken on 4 years ago at the tender age of 58!

Your problem may be that you are 39 with 2 years experience whereas other 39 year olds will have up to 23 years experience!

once he’s got humping in his mindset he’ll do it even if he has the chop, you need to stop him from doing it before he starts then he’ll forget about it. also we had one of our dogs castrated, partly because he was aggressive towards other dogs and partly because our older dog had testicular cancer and we didn’t want the same problem again. didn’t solve the aggression and caused him to have a weight problem for the rest of his life. got two dogs now, both fully intact and staying that way.
