presta, as they are easier to deflate than schraeder ones.

ay? use a cap with the integral removal tool and your tyre is instantly deflated!

anyway, schraders are used is loads of industrial applications, high pressure schraders are good for 2100 psi, even the cheapos used in pneumatic tyres are good for 210 psi.

i stand to be corrected but as far as i know prestas are only used in cycling and came about due to the smaller diameter of the valve body.

list it on ebay, 10 days, shedule it to finish at a sensible time, plenty of photos, honest description, and a stupidly high reserve to make sure you don't sell it, it will then find it's own value.

nothing to discuss… put your foot down… no compromise!

many years ago i suggested knocking a door through from house to garage, what a mistake that was, non garage/male/my things kept appearing on my workbench.

built my own house last year, the garage is integral… insulated and heated but not accessible without going outside… it's all mine!

don't watch the news or buy news papers, you'll find you won't miss much and if there is a genuine story (haiti) amongst all the other rubbish and scare mongering then you'll get to hear about from forums, work colleagues, friends etc.

sold my 54 plate last september, had it for 3 1/2 years from 80k to 112k miles, had it serviced once when i bought it other than that it cost me diesel, tyres and mot tests, never failed an mot not even an advisory, wished i'd still got it at mo as it never got stuck in the snow!

depends on what he wants, i'd say go to the drum shop with a tape measure, but nevermind floor area, what about sound insulation? i used to have a roland td-10, when used with headphones, though you couldn't hear the sound of the drum, you could certainly hear the physical hitting of the drums and the bass pedal on the floor.

if it was me and i was thinking about "depression" and that "i don't enjoy it" then i'd be out. we're at work a long time, not just the eight hours a day but our whole life is set up around work and if i'm not enjoying it then no amount of money will have me sticking around, of course it took me 16 years to figure this out and i'm lucky in having a partner who does enjoy her work. please understand that i'm just sharing my thoughts, not advising!

also… like you i got talked into it 20 years ago. i agreed but i wanted a small playful dog, wasn't bothered about breed but liked terriers.

2 days after i said yes we were at ncdl (now dogs trusts), we had three that loosly met the criteria, one didn't like men, one had three legs and one was a snappy jack russell who we came away with (no home checks in those days!), it was sort of spur of the moment but we had him for forteen years and never regretted one moment.

jack russell. i've had 3 over the last 20 years, absolutly ace, leave 'em at home, they're small enough to have a dog flap to get outside, pick 'em up if they get into trouble, playful, hardy, inquisitave, intelligent and trainable when it suits them!

i never trust any dog with children, pedigree doesn't guarantee anything, as for temprement? i think they pick more up from the owner than what they have bred into them.

jesus… light the blue touch paper and run for your life! why is it that when you ask a question a lot of people think you're having a dig at them, i don't knock anyone or anything, it's each to their own, i was simply looking to be enlightened!

i've with junkyard, any piss week argument to get another bike or any other toy for that matter, you cannot have too many toys!

    "ourmaninthenorth"… haven't got a clue what you're on about… wicked!

as for cars.. nope.. don't give a flying **** about what's essential, i want to be comfortable. old mini… been there… great introduction to (continual) car maintenance… why doesn't the haynes manual mention losing your knuckles when changing the clutch… no matter how many times you do it? vx220… like i said each to their own but if i was to do without cd player, carpets, heater etc i'd leave the doors and roof off as well and have a caterham.

anyway, thanks for all the responses… "riding a 29er but not blowing a trumpet about it" you might be right, been looking at orange p7, adjustable dropouts… perfect for a singlespeed… or even dare i say… rohloff!

    does it defo need new brake pads? my mini went in for service, got a phone call as expected, went something like this;

"mr morrison, your front brake pads are quite low, we can replace them for £170"

"well the indicator light hasn't come on so how low is quite low"

    "hold on…. about 3mm"

"well they only started life with 6mm and it's taken me 20000 miles to get them down to 3, so why do they need changing?"

"hold on…. they'll probably be ok until the next service"

if you let them know that you have even a modicum of understaiding of what they're talking about they tend to shut up pretty quickly.

Sounds like your pretty handy so i would be interested in the stuff you have done for ideas. I always get customers coming in asking for stuff and the more ideas the better for me.

when it's finished i will be proud to show it off.

i get most of my inspiration from other t5(t4) owners on http://www.vwt4forum.co.uk/ click on the t5 tab and scroll down to vwt5 pictures and videos.

There are little things that may give ideas to other users.

Its not just a camper market, there are people that want multi purpose vehicles even without having to sleep in them.

totally agree, i'm forever looking at other conversions to get ideas for my own, currently part converted t5. i'm fitting a completely fold away bed (though matress will have to be stored in the house) and free standing/removeable kitchen unit so i will still have full use of the van.

i'm not into camper conversions (cutlery rack, wardrobes etc… can't see the point), did a temporary conversion on mine and used it last year just to see what we need for our proper conversion ready for this season… fingers crossed. at the end of the day it's down to personal taste and each to their own.

thing is all the vw boys will have already seen it as it was featured in one of the vw mags last year.

back then i thought it was a little pointless, sure the quality seems good but no better than many of the converters out there not to mention hundreds of one off self builds (yes, i know there are crap ones too).

designwise it's just a trimmed out van, there's a table to eat your breakfast but no cooker to cook it on but then you wouldn't be eating breakfast cos you wouldn't have wanted to sleep on those single seats?

warton, i was going to say what gravitysucks said but he beat me to it.

anyway, it would seem that thanks to this forum, shiny is now a happy and future customer of crc.

also, i don't know andy or if he appreciates this sort of publicity on a public forum but hats off to him for coming on and sorting these problems out, very commendable in my opinion.

maybe best to keep on trying to phone them, rather than slag them on here.

couldn't disagree more, this is a public forum and it's our chance to be heard, we don't have to keep hush about bad service or products for fear of losing advertising revenue. even if they are busy, it only takes a few seconds to acknowledge receipt of an email and confirm that it will be dealt with.

at lunchtime I had my second go of the day at someone who decided to drive past me as fast as he could in mixed deep snow/slush.

my point exactly, most of the time people accept the slow moving traffic and stay in line, occasionly people drive so slowly and not in keeping with the conditions that the following driver has no alternative other than to demonstrate how it is perfectly safe to drive a little faster by overtaking….or in your case twice!!!

JUST TAKEN ME 2 HOURS TO DO ABOUT 10 MILES, SEEMS TO ME THAT IT'S NOT CARS THAT ARE THE PEOBLEM BUT A HANDFULL OF COMPLETELY INCOMPETANT DRIVERS WHO DRIVE AT 5 MPH AS SOON AS THEY SEE ANYTHING OTHER THAN DRY TARMAC AND THINK THE ART TO PULLING AWAY IS TO APPLY 6000 REVS AND DUMP THE CLUTCH. SORRY FOR SHOUTING BUT IT PISSES ME RIGHT OFF.

i do building work, mostly for myself but occasionally for other people. when working for others, stage payments are agreed beforehand, on a straightforward extension this would be brickwork to wall plate, roof, 1st fix and completion with a 5% retention on the whole contract (not just the final stage). there is always a snagging list and i don't expect to get my 5% until the customer is happy and have never not been paid.

as for the site, you are entitled to expect it to be left as it was found.
