i used to go greenlaning on my motorbike, we would moan about the ruts left by the "one life, live it" 4×4 crowd!

anyway, we were out one day and came across a group of ramblers, about 20 of them, we dropped our speed and rode past very slowly, most of them were putting their hands over their ears or holding their noses clearly showing their disapproval of the internal combustion engine. half a mile later we get back onto metalled road, we're in the middle of nowhere, and there's a dozen cars littering the verges where these **** had parked up and started their walk!

that's a good idea, all the weight in the centre, no cables to disconnect to remove the wheel, you could probably run 1:1 chain ring, it'd look nice and clean, the singlespeeders would be coming in their pants!

EDIT: thought i better cross that out before i get called a gobshite again!

    well i think he's a **** nobhead.

A bike is much more efficient at eroding the surface of paths than a walkers boots for obvious reasons. It maintains constant contact with the ground

as it maintains a constant contact with the ground surely it is causing less erosion. in much the same way that if you suffer with knee/joint problems you're better off cycling or swimming than jogging, less impact = less damage.

On Sunday afternoon (yesterday) three cyclists were observed on a route which was not a bridleway and not even a PROW. The result is a further mashing up of a pleasantly informal path.

presumably a "pleasantly informal path" is not a designated footpath but just a visible strip of eroded ground amongst otherwise untouched surroundings, presumably eroded by foot traffic which presumably is ok!

a classic case of do as i say and not as i do!

i've got to be honest, i've heard that john terry is in the news a lot, presumably cos he's been shagging, haven't paid much interest or bothered to find out and it's none of my business.

what i am interested in is winning the world cup and this year we've got a good chance except as usual the tabloid press is going to do it's best to **** it up.

that's more like it, getting closer to 3×9 and only 260 quid, got to be worth a serious look.

a couple of questions thoughts though

    1. why don't they stop pissing about and meet rohloff head on on spread, and walk them on price (actually i'll answer that myself.. that'd probably spell the end to derailleurs, cassettes and half the shifters)

    2. i'm not bothered about going flat out on the road so can an alfine set up be geared so that the lowest ratio is equivalent to the lowest in a 3×9?

if julie kirkbride and her husband have got to pay back 60 odd grand, just how much were they claiming in the first place, on top of their salaries?

and, when it all came out last year one mp (can't remember his name) even claimed for a yorkie bar! wtf? the rest of society have to use their wages to buy luxuries, it seems mp's don't need to touch theirs wages at all!

but it's ok because we, the people, will vote out all the mp's who have been dishonest/immoral to be replaced by good, honest, salt of the earth types more dishonest and corrupt candidates, looking to feather their own nests at our expense.

try http://www.vwt4forum.co.uk, (http://www.vwt4forum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=54819) plenty of advice about insulation, i shall be using rockwool but i seem to remember someone on the forum said sheepswool is the best.

you can fit swivel seats to t5, only minor problem (???) is that you have to leave the handbrake off in order to swivel the drivers seat, my swivels are RIB (crash tested) from germany and were purchased from south west camper conversions in uk…. not much use to you i know.

captain_bastard – stupid money for a slip of land with planning permission, is there a better way?

yeah, buy a slip of land without planning permission and apply for permission yourself.

it's not a route i'd take unless my best mate was on the planning committee and in answer to your thread title, yes.

one reason that i heard for this behaviour was that "it's ok because the bag is bio degradable." not in fresh air it isn't you dumbass you still have to leave it in a composting environment!

here's one i saw a few years ago, woman walking dog on beach, picks dog shit up with bag, fair enough, then walks into the sea up to her ankles and proceeds to empty said bag… wtf?

EDIT: actually i suppose it cut out the middle man (water co.)

    a few points here;

your mate needs to decide what type of bike he wants, if he's staying with full suspension then his choices of boutique are restricted anyway.

then he needs to set his budget, if he's got £7000 the world is his oyster, if he got £700 quid then… well the world is not his oyster.

what does he do with his bikes, does he like trying different parts and playing in the garage or does he just want to buy it, ride it and put it away until next week?.

orange hardtails are manufactured in the far east whilst fs are manufactured in halifax.

are all bike frames really welded by hand?

we went out yesterday, at one point there was 20 of us, a mix of mass produced, boutique, old, new, hardtail, full suspension and a raleigh! the first one to reach the top of the climbs and the bottom of the descents was the rider with the strongest legs and biggest bollocks (or crapest brakes!!!), nowt to do with the bike.

mainstream manufacturers will change their designs annually because the marketing department want to sell more (that's common to all manufacturing, not just bikes) and we, the consumer, must have the latest model. orange have only tweaked the five a bit because it was good from the start, their approach was to add to the range, blood, st4 etc

what's the problem? the auction finished, the buyer paid immediately, as many do, you've confirmed you've been paid.

the buyer is new to ebay, could it be that he/she has forwarded you their email confirming payment as they didn't realise you'd get one?

also, although paypal is owned by ebay, using paypal is not exclusive to ebay so they could have an account for other reasons.

the only problem i can see is that you've been paid and are withholding the goods!
