check european warantees’ get it towed to france.
When my 147 blew up at 39k and 68k miles, due to cambelt,
UK had to fix it as I pointed out although uk service schedule was 75k, european was every 36k
was over 4k worth as needed new engine second time.

if you buy and fit a 4″ shim but only insert the post 3″ its not the required insertion.
Minimum insertion as marked on a post is the required amount to avoid the seatpost from flexing too much and snapping.

You should follow frame manufacturers advice for seatpost insertion, you seem confused, that you mention

I prove them that I inserted almost 4″

    then say it was 5″

Would either depth reached below the triangle for the seatpost?

When I changed my trek to a yeti, my existing reverb post wouldn’t fit, 31.6 down to 30.9. I just bought a new one and used the packaging to make existing post look better on ebay, only lost £25 – seems like it’d have been the best option.

Trying to watch mate on the 98 car, he’ll be toping it up with oil during pit stops, he also designed the engine… he rides his bike almost as fast as this goes.

have they offered a price that you would be happy with? if you said for example i hope to get £20 and they’ve offered £22 or more why not take it? If its well below what you expect to get let it run its course

neither bike are tt, just plain vanilla sit up an beg road bikes. in fact carbon has BIG tubes so probably lot less aero than 1″ headtube steel bike.

Wheels do make a difference, lighter wheels definitely make it easier.

But generally i would agree an xtr rear mech is not going to make you faster unless you are <10% body fat
but some parts do count. In fact I’d say properly set up trail suspension is often heavier than XC parts and that would probably make the average rider faster

My Carbon road bike weighs about 16lbs my steel training bike weighs about 25lbs i weigh about 240 lbs
So I’m 3% lighter overall but I go at least 10% faster when i do a 10 mile tt on my carbon bike

i’m about same weight, i’ve had various FS and HT frames from Trek 8000 and Cotic Souls, to Yeti 575 and Trek Rumblefish. I’m going back to a Yeti BigTop. The thing I’ve always concentrated on are wheels, several cheese wheels when I first got going. I’d rather have Deore and some Crossmax STs than XT and cheap nasty wheels.

letmetalktomark – thanks for comments not bothered about looks, just was worried about needle migration as had moto forks on super v years ago and wanted to know if they were more reliable. I was looking at 2013 model from qwerty cycles as the new models are suppose to be self fixing for the migration issue.

they attach to the quick release, i used to run one on my yeti 575 so any bike with discs should be possible

I bailed half away also, rigid singlespeed wasn’t best idea, should have taken the pannier off the rear as well.
Route marking was discrete, could have been a little more obvious especially at road t junction and start of off road climb when leaving the road.

JOGLE for me had headwind all the way so LEJOG probably better way round.
    996 miles
    13 1/2 Days
    17.5 Stone
Fitness before – 15 mile commute to work for 2 months 2 days a week.
Longest ride before I started 30 miles.
    1st day 56 miles
    2nd Day 78 Miles
    3rd Day 90
    4th Day 105
    etc…

Just do it, you might as well, raise some money, i did it as a second thought and raised £3,000 for local disabled kids, they did the fund raising all i did was cycle and appear in a photo for the paper. Sometimes they need a crazy person to pin campaign to and get local press.

BT Fon is a segregated part of your broadband that doesn’t offer the full speed when at home, you allow it so you can use other peoples when out and about, which is brilliant. Just get the BT Wifi app for phone or tablet to make connect easier. PC / Mac should be very simple never had a problem here.

vodafone sure signal here, just complain – right to ceo@vodafone.co.uk or similar I did and got £120 credit when first got my sure signal.

Just download BT SmartTalk app so you can use your mobile on wifi when vodafone on the blink.
