If Full uk service history – compare service records against italian timelines – my 147 cambelt went twice in 66k miles – treated as a warranty issue each time, uk service interval was 75k miles where on the other side of the channel it was 35k. got Alfa struck off the company car list…. 🙁

and each time it did blow up, it was raining and despite my best sunnies couldn’t look cool next to a burning / smoking mess of resentment.

Kona – process 153 or 111 lifetime warranty, had capra on order and switched to 111 DL never regretted it. Fantastic bike, feels bulletproof

great campsite, book direct rather than through eurocamp as its only about 20 euros a night.
Free local transport, train tickets for whole family to explorer the whole black forest region.
    Lovely town and restaurants

Its not how big the number but what you can do with it – Kona Process 111 definitely the best 29 for UK / Lakes riding

My Raleigh Strata I bought when I was 15, broke on the seat tube above the bottom bracket when I tried to jump a drainage ditch on dartmoor. it was 10 years old and raleigh replaced the frame, forks and headset + stem moved everything over to the new frame and charged me all of £6.

    Now that was a warranty

I’ve had 3 reverbs, they’ve all broken / had play from the start.

Have just got a thomson so too early to comment on ultimate reliability, but it feels more solid, i really like the smallish lever and was very easy to set up.

Why not offer – £50 puncture repair kit, saddle bag, mini pump, patches, levers, 2 tubes and someone to show you how to swap a tube.

you can sell this with every bike, or people walking in off the street.

Difference between crc and rrp, pay rrp now and we’ll credit difference on all purchases to your account upto £250 / year and you can have it off the next bike you buy?

He’s been saying that for a while, I think looking at nibali this year it’s clear there’s no point unless your on the juice and he doesn’t want to do that

Easy enough solution to the tax disc problem – bikes are zero emission vehicles, we could easily have a sticker tax disc from DVLA – cost to cyclist £0 – cost to tax payer to administer scheme – HUGE

Should be a good trip, as long as he see’s it as fun and doing for a reason not just for dad then he should enjoy it. W’ve just finished the way of the roses a month after my son turned 8. it was 185 miles in total and absolutely fantastic family fun, already planning the next trip.

Medical conditions that require antidotes or cures or they’ll die within 12 hours…
11 hours and 59 minutes later …. organs failing, blood coming from nose, eyes rolled back.
Tap tap on the needle – injection

12 hours and 1 minute sitting up in bed saying phew that was close, drinking a nice cup of tea.

also check bike fit is aimed at comfort not performance and that she’s not too far forward with all weight on wrists

1970s mum and dad hey bought a 3 bed semi in london for £12,000 on the central line

when you were allowed joint mortgages – Mum had to go back out to work as now competing against people with no kids to buy family home. demand created drives prices higher, people willing to use more of salary to live where they want to etc…

Break down of family life as I knew it…

We moved long ago so didn’t make huge sums, but its probably worth £650k now
Trying to buy something similar as the house i grew up in is ridiculous, will never probably earn enough to buy something similar.

It would be better if again you could only have 1 person on a mortgage

just did the way of the roses fully loaded with the family, my Pinnacle is a 1×10 setup 38 – 12-30 cassette
seems ideal although something smaller for the 16% climbs would have been useful, i coped with everything and there was a lot less to go wrong

I say fair play to brant, things go wrong from time to time, it’s not that companies are perfect it’s how the deal with any problems that matter.

It’s very easy for zen to say BT didn’t tell them an you have no way to check this, but basically BT fixed your problem ahead of schedule, and your ISP didn’t tell you or you hadn’t checked it yourself?

Not that bad service is it?

    So far we’ve gone through

Like A bIke – New Kepper
    Ridgeback MX14 – New lost £50
    Ridgeback Mx20 – New Lost – £75
Isla Bike Beinn 24 (2nd Hand) – Will probably make a profit

Islabike is so light compared to equivalents, mainstream brands seem to want to pander to how kids see them – forks, discs etc… but the extra weight is huge and there is no performance advantage.

going to do “the way of the roses” (170 miles) with my lad who’s just turned 8, and wouldn’t do that on anything else that would fit him that I’ve seen.

Next worry is he’ll soon be on to a 26 and there is quiet a price hike, and we don’t have an old one in the shed as a hand me down.

Sky and others are all using Openreach FTTC in most places, so if you’re getting 20/30 mbps it’ll be due to your distance from the cabinet not any throttling.

I am using tektro Hylex and they are fab, even getting used to bar mounted shifter not a problem

    not bashing shins mainly.
i had fixed on last company car, now removable on current car

removable means parking sensors work when tow bar not fitted and disconnect when electrics in use.

I got a Westfalia one fitted as my car had tow bar prep and they didn’t have to break into the electrics.

NW Towbars in Stockport are highly recommended.

there can be just as big a difference in tyre compounds, racing tyres seem to roll a lot further for less effort than puncture resistant commuting ones,

Some 24 tires were too large for his frame at the rear (Rocket Ron’s etc…)

    Nice, light and speedy

I’m about 115kgs in gear and ran Crossmax SX wheels for years without hitch, looking at getting a set of Crossmax STs now on 29er.

I’ve only had hand built Hope wheels, Halo Wheels to compare but would always go for mavic if i could afford them

(iv) Guarantee rights are limited to the aforementioned and any additional incurred costs (such as assembly, transport, etc.) and additional costs for assembly or material due to a model-change are not covered. Within the framework of our voluntary guarantee, the Customer shall bear these costs.

As others had said, my frame cracked, I’m glad I’m getting a nice shiny new frame, but I’m off on holiday do you have any demo bikes I could borrow / loan. Would have been the better way to approach it.

can’t see what they’ve done wrong as although you sent them images 1 month ago, I suspect they wouldn’t start looking at your bike until the received it which is fair and 2-3 weeks isn’t ages to wait.

Where a bouts are you based, I have a tack Elite turbo trainer I was going to list in classifieds – £50

    Everything you need

    Turbo trainer
    Front wheel Riser
    700c / 29er Turbo trainer tire

That would work and be less likely to become clothes horse in years to come

looking forward to it next year…. guaranteed place as I was a marshall at the bottom of PyG

great spirt on the day, you could tell everyone was giving it their all, the guys that turned up 2 minutes before the cut off and set off up PyG maybe looked like a little tied by the time they came down!
