Again, that’s not what anyone’s saying.

But we are talking about one car getting held up here, the OPs, if they should pull over for this one car, then why not by extension every car. You’d never get anywhere.

10 people are expected by Specialknees to pull over and inconvenience themselves for the benefit of 1, himself. And they are the arrogant ones? Yeah, ok then.

    Epic, epic trolling. Bravo.

I wear one. I like it.

It comes off for anything where it is likely to get lost, damaged or do me a mischief, e.g. swimming or lifting weights in the gym.

I hope no-one actually thought their company provided email was private. It’s standard practice to monitor this stuff, they will probably never read it, but they need to be able to get at it should the need arise.

The race angle just doesn’t add up. The BOA have banned the nasty black man so all the white sprinters can go to the Olympics instead… Oh, wait…

If you’re paying then you’re paying. That’s the tip too. Wrong to be peeved, imho.
You can’t be all generous with the meal then get tight-fisted over the tip.

If the bill is split and then no-one throws in for the tip then I’d be calling them on it.

I think Thomas Jane would be good. He looked pretty big in The Punisher.
    Hugh Jackman maybe (Wolverine).
The Captain America guy (Chris Evans), is too young. Reacher is late 30’s when he gets out of the army.

I don’t think that the guy who plays him has to be 6’5″ as Reacher is supposed to be, but he has to be tall, reasonably built and “rugged” enough in appearance to carry off the demeanor. Cruise is a joke in the role.

I just cut off some strips of the old bar tape that I am removing and tape it on with electrical tape before wrapping the new tape. Seems to work well and is free!

Luke Donald gets similar… “Luuuuuuuuuuuke”. You won’t have heard much of that on the Masters TV coverage as he had an absolute shocker and was well out of contention.

Predictable “humourous” responses from Three Fish and aP, well done guys *Golf Clap*.

They don’t adjust as much in reverse, you may have triuble getting the nose low enough. Whether it would be enough, I don’t know and I don’t have one anymore to check, sorry

He’s already said he received great treatment and wants to piece together what happened.

    Really?
    From the OP:

Yes, I also know that me and my back injury would have been the priority, not my kit, but I’m not happy with the way I’ve been treated in several respects and the loss of kit is only part of the problem.

Anyway. Not going to comment on that.

Re: the Oakleys – Oakley customer service is legendary for a reason, I’d give them a call they may be able to offer something off a replacement pair or something.

Tell me more about Bishopston, looking to buy there with the wife, I’m pretty sold on it, her not so much.
Kids are in the imminent future probably, so schools etc important. I commute into the centre, she’s a consultant so could end up posted anywhere.

MrBlond, lots of financial services companies in Brizzle, I work for one and we have a fair few IT people in Bristol.

Personally I wouldn’t go smaller than the 2.0 with 140BHP in a car that big. But thats me, and tbh I wouldn’t go smaller than the 2.0 in a car the size of a focus, so I may have different expectations.

    Thanks for the opinions.
Lots and lots of love for the Brompton. It is swaying me I have to admit.

Dahon Mu Xl is tempting with the Alfine too.

A Brompton s2l may be in my future.

If I went brompton then realistically I’m looking at the S2L due to budget. You seem to get so much more for your money from the other brands.

At the moment my commute is a doddle and could be done on a singlespeed no problem. Flat across Windsor, on the train, then flat across the city. But a move to Bristol is in the offing and I don’t want the bike rendered useless by the hills as it would become both commuting and general getting about town transport.

The sensible option would seem to be a 7sp 2011 Dahon Mu with the nexus hub for under £500, or the new Tern equivalent with 8sp deraileur gears for under £500. Both have the 20″ wheels, which appeal, but neither fold as small as the Brompton, though the fold looks to be pretty quick.

I suspect your feet aren’t really as wide as you think!

I must tell that to all the other shoes I have that are too narrow…
I’d heard that rep for them being narrow too, almost didn’t even try them on as a result. But I did and while they are definately narrow in the heel, no chance of heel lift, I find them roomy in the toe.

You obviously have some sort of weird mutant feet so who knows what works for you…

Weird that you say Salomon are narrow. I have a very wide forefoot that gives me no end of trouble in normal shoes. Salomon fit me just lovely. I use Synapse snowboard boots, and when I’m skiing I hunt out a shop that has salomon rental boots. I find them wide in the toe box, narrow in the heel. Perfick for me, with no modification other than shoving in a pair of superfeet green insoles.

AFAIK if you are signed off you are not allowed to work. Your bosses insurance won’t cover if anything happens to you whilst at work when supposed to be on the sick.

You are signed off, you can’t work. It is not unreasonable not to work. Especially for something as serious as this, it’s not like you gotten signed off with a touch of manflu is it.

On long haul Premium Economy gets you a wider seat and more legroom. Seat also reclines further and has a leg rest thing that pops up. Doesn’t go flat but you can get reasonably comfortable. I think the entertainment system is the same, but the screen may be a little bigger, can’t remember.

    No idea on short haul.

Flew to Kenya out on premium economy, back in standard economy. Premium was definitely nicer. We got a free upgrade though. Not sure if I’d pay for it.

Who was the big guy who rode Ti bikes filled with structual foam?

    Magnus Backstedt?

On Sportive versus race bikes… I used to have a Cervelo S1, very much a race bike – mega stiff with low front end, but moved it on before doing a 24hr london to paris ride as it would have killed me. I replaced it with a Cervelo RS which is their fat biffer/Roubaix bike with a 20mm taller headtube (165mm), super skinny stays etc – it is so good, love it. It is the frame I should have bought in the first place, expensive mistake that was.

Yes, I work in IT, am slightly overwieght and I am a Cervelo fanboi. I don’t drive an Audi though (yet) :D

Instead of trying to guess what your time should be, why wait til September? Tri season starts in May, do an early season race and give yourself something to aim at?
Even a sprint would give you a better idea of what you may be capable of over an Oly distance than trying to extrapolate from a few run times.

iphone 4s costs £899 retail in the electrical store I was in on Jersey today.

    8O yowzer.

    That is eye-wateringly expensive!

I’ll take the long contract and subsidised phone purchase price thanks.

It’s not mega hilly, but undulating enough that you won’t really be hunkered down in TT position for long stretches.

Don’t obsess about the tube – the overground is generally a nicer experience.

Personally I’d avoid the Northern line if possible. I used to live on it (clapham) and it is pretty miserable in rush hour.

TT bike is pointless, too up and down, you could use one if you already have one and you will see people with them, but I wouldn’t get one specially. Use your own road bike, maybe get some tribars on it, but not unless you practice with them first.

In other news it looks like I am doing (subject to entry being available) the Blenhim Tri as a team – on the bike leg

I did the blenheim tri last year, not in a team though, it is a great event. The bike leg is quite up and down. You can overtake a lot of people on one of the downhills if you don’t mind a bit of ballsy descending. The ups is obviously fitness dependent.

“sending message”, “message sent” bla bla SHUT UP WOMAN

Siri is a man on my phone. Are your friends in the US (I’ve heard it’s a woman there) or have they managed to change the voice?

I ask because I would prefer to set it to a woman’s voice if possible.

I have an iphone 4s. I replaced an aging iphone 3g with it.

I use Siri occasionally, usually if I’m listening to music when out and about and have the phone tucked away inside my coat somewhere. I’ll use it to change album or make a call. I also use it to set appointments in the calendar from time to time.
It can be annoying, on Monday it was unable to differentiate between a takeaway called Tutto Tucci and a taxi company in my address book, despite me having no regional accent to speak of and enunciating very carefully. After about 10 goes it got it. I’ve put this down to background noise.

I love the phone, it’s great. But Siri is not, imho, worth buying the phone for. If I had an iphone 4 already I wouldn’t have upgraded. But the 4s is a massive step forward from the 3g and 3gs.
