err, as far as I could tell the Army had guns, and the Police were experimenting with not carrying guns, which seems reasonable. Who else was armed to the teeth?

Yup, you are required by law to at least have them in the car.

I’d have thought you would be a target for checkpoints as well, as you will have a foreign number plate.

Really nice. I wanted one of these for my winter bike but had to settle for the aluminium aether due to budget. It’s the same geometry as the equilibrium, a very nice ride. Sure the equilibrium will be excellent.

    It’s nice.

Out of curiousity, why not proper drops?

Type of riding: general mucking about.

I like them, seem to work for me. Don’t really see any need to go wider.

In the summer it’s sunny and hot in the alps…
Yet to get my Mrs to buy this. It’s not the Alps that put her off, it’s that she is convinced she wouldn’t see me all week, and to be fair she’s probably right.

They’re not, just those that are jealous think they are. Least that’s how I see it when I look at them and their envious eyes, when I’m sending a pic of a burger to someone sat next to me. Because clearly that’s what people with iphones do send messages to the person they’re sat next to.

Agreed. It’s all in the minds of the bitter non-iphone having luddites.

Doesn’t approximately 97.4% of the adult population have an iphone. It’s hardly worth showing off about and giving it the “look at me” treatment.

At least Hammond was having a go for the other side. Clarkson did actually say he didn’t have a problem with cyclists on the road as long as they behave themselves, which is pretty much fair enough.

The road tax comment was idiotic, but sadly that is what Top Gear has reduced itself to over the last 2-3 seasons. It used to be really enjoyable but they have consistently dragged it down with “humour” that tries too hard and unnecessary attempts to court controversy.

I don’t even know what that feature video about the Rolls and the Merc was supposed to be about, it was just stupid.

I suspect it will be cancelled before too much longer, or at least re-vamped, it needs it.

    Cueto – he is useless

I really can’t agree with that. He isn’t as good or exciting as Foden and Ashton but he does do a job. He is solid in defence and rarely makes mistakes. His attacking play has gone off the boil in recent seasons but he did seem to wake up a bit in that regard in the AI’s.

Overall, I’m happy enough with him in the team.

I like Flood, Youngs, the back 3. I’m concerned about the centres.
In the pack we would undoubtably be better with Croft and Lawes available, but they aren’t so we have to make do. Wood is an excellent player at Saints, and Haskell on his day is can be very good.

    Re: SRAM or Shimano.

I have SRAM Force groupset on my best bike and it is really good, but the shifts are noticeably more “agricultural” than the 9sp Shimano on the winter bike. I love the doubletap levers though.
It is light for the money too. Force is a bit lighter even than Dura-Ace in BB30 form and only 10g heavier in GXP external BB form.

I’d have no hesitation in recommending it.

Genesis Equilibrium is a nice option. And it has room for mudguards making it very versatile. It’s a looker too.

I got the Aether (same geometry but cheaper alu frame) for my winter bike and it is excellent. I would have gone for the Equilibrium but it was way over budget.

My personal perspective is that it’s hideous. The old one was really nice, don’t know what they are thinking with that awful kinked top tube.

Just an example. There are loads of proper slicks for MTB anywhere from 1″ up to 2.5″.

Schwalbe Big Apple in a 2″ might fit the bill.

Is it used entirely on tarmac? If so then why not proper slicks rather than semis?

Not got a mortgage yet, though one is on the way. We are looking to buy this year, after our wedding. Problem is living in London… = crazy prices.

Student loan is large but being paid off gradually via salary sacrifice.

Have a credit card debt that I could afford to pay off, but have been neglecting and paying interest. This thread has inspired me to sort out a balance transfer to a 0% card.

Chances are you are eating too much.

Try a food diary (be honest, you’d be amazed how many people lie to themselves). You might be surprised by the amount of calories you are taking in.

pulses and lentils = high in calories. Yes, they may considered be “healthy”, but how much are you eating?

I have Mavic Tempo overshoes for roadie duties. I don’t recommend them. I pulled off one of the Mavic tags the first time I tried to put them on, they are a sod to get on and off, and they aren’t wearing particularly well.

When they die I will be buying something different.

    I’m with Legend.

Same width, same compound, they weight about the same, it’ll be as near as makes no practical difference.

Fulcrum 5’s or Mavic Aksiums are pretty much the benchmark at under £200.

You might find something good in the sales.

The Bfe is a nice price, but I think the Soul is more my speed. Besides the geo is the same as the Soul and I’m not about to run super long forks on it so it’d just be lugging around extra weight really.

I really don’t see anything in what the OP has posted to lead to leaping to the conclusion that he is attempting anything dishonest.

Obviously the right thing to do is to return the frame, I don’t think anyone is disputing that.

Agree to disagree I suppose. Not going to argue hypotheticals anymore, the OP hasn’t even posted for a week and we’re still making assumptions and fighting about it.

    I can see this…

    wilts rover said:

If the shop manager does maybe he would like to return my call…

Sounds like he is trying to rectify the situation to me. Or if you were planning on keeping a frame that had been sent to you in error would you be on the blower to the shop telling them about it.

That whole first post is written in a jokey tone, did you not pick up on that?

I haven’t ridden either, but have always coveted a Chameleon. If you are looking for someone to give yours to, I call ‘dibs’.

Ha, I won’t be giving it to anyone, but if I do decide to go for a Soul then the Chameleon will be on the classifieds on here.

I thought they made the comments before the game had even started?

They did. The decision, that she got right, came later.

Has the OP suggested anywhere that he has any intention of keeping it, selling it, or doing anything with it other than returning it?

Apart from the obvious joke about it being a raffle prize.

Seriously… what’s the view like from up there?

Rob2, that’s interesting. The Cham is certainly fun. I just sometimes find it a bit compromised for longer days, more xc type stuff.

If you could only have one which would you say is the better all rounder?

It’s my experience that people try hard not to say sorry in a business context as it feels like a personal admission of fault when chances are it was “the machine” that was at fault, not the individual you are talking to.

Not saying it’s right, but that’s what I think it is.

    Yes

    No

With a suit the acceptable options are:
    1) don’t wear sunglasses (you are not a secret service agent…)
    2) get some smart ones, Raybans or Police or something.

I am willing to make exceptions for driving, but they must be removed upon parking the vehicle.
