Molgrips is 100% right on this one. There is no debate, really.

It is absolutely basic SI unit derivation. A Level (maybe even GCSE) Physics stuff.

Sounds like you are employed at the lower grade, not on probation. Lots of people at my place get done over in a similar fashion to this with extended periods in “interim” higher graded roles, that drag on and on.

Do you have a good relationship with your line manager?
Do have any good relationships with other senior people at your place, not in your immediate line, with whom you could have a confidential “mentoring” chat?

Some good advice above about putting your case.
I would suggest that, if you can, you talk it over in confidence with someone who knows the company well. Preferably who is senior to you but with whom you have a good relationship and who you can trust to have a confidential chat. Worth it to understand the lie of the land, there could be things going on behind the seens, pressure to make cuts etc, that you don’t want to fall foul of.

I’d be buying that Cannondale. Mate just got one and it is really nice.

I feel bad for kids just passing their tests these days. It was bad when I did 12 years ago but now it is beyond ridiculous.
Named driver on Mum and Dad’s policy seems to be the only real solution for them.

Headsets are cheap, relative to a new frame. Why not buy one that fits?
(Once you get that one out of there obviously…)

Blackburn air support road gets the job done for me. It’s a bit longer that that airstik but gets up to pressure pretty well.

I’d really like one of the lezyne pumps with a flexible hose, but until my pump breaks I won’t be upgrading.

Re: Brakes, as usual… it depends.

    I have two road bikes:

Bike 1: SRAM Force brake calipers with standard SRAM Force pads – proper powerful – disc brake level power.

Bike 2: long drop tektro calipers with standard tektro pads – borderline scary, even in the dry.

I keep meaning to upgrade the pads on bike 2 but haven’t got round to it.

This is one of those things like sleep, where there are people who have babies who are naturally good sleepers who think they know everything about getting babies to sleep, and people who have bad sleepers who know that some babies just find it harder to sleep.

Same goes for this, if you have a slow or relatively tame and biddable baby, no need for the dog lead and you can be sanctimonious. For those who have little houdini / Sebastian coe crossbreeds, reins might just be useful, especially if they are early developers who learn to walk / run before they are so good at communicating or learning lessons.

I don’t think I’ve ever agreed more with a post on this website.

    this made me laugh

I can see why you find this amusing, but surely this is just standard practice in the massive marketing machine that is professional sport these days?

I just googled a zesty 214 and the same bike (i think) new can be had for £1,400. £50 more than your second hand.

It’s not even close to the same level of spec though.
Almost every component on Chakapings bike is upgraded, including the forks and shock (i.e. expensive bits!)

I got silly low offers on a jacket I was selling. I didn’t sell it.

I’ve also seen people offering things for more than I’d be willing to pay. I didn’t buy it.

I’ve seen stuff that I wanted for a price that I thought was fair. I bought it.

This kind of thing is self correcting, surely?

And suggesting that South Africans beat their wives isn’t lowering the tone? Much worse than (rightly, in this case) calling you a prick, imho.

Oh FFS Teetosugars, I said I was trolling you to get you to bite. Don’t bother having a pop at DezB and a_a. You’ve already lowered it with personal insults.

I’d suggest it is pretty hard to take the moral high ground when you have accused an entire nation of men of wife beating and admitted to trolling.

Well played Ireland on Saturday, they really brought an intensity to the match that blew England away. Worthy winners on the day.
It was a disappointing performance from England, gutted really, overall championship win not much consolation after giving up the Grandslam with such a whimper.

I don’t think we should be backing out of world affairs. However I do question why we are always at the front clamouring to be involved when there is fighting to be done.

With this Libya thing, there are plenty of countries in the UN that could have laid the smack down to Gaddafi without British involvement. Are 2 wars on foreign soil not enough for us?

I have the Aether 20 (same frame and fork) for a winter bike, it’s really nice and takes full guards.

(I wanted the Cannondale but was out of my budget too, happy with the Genesis.)

    Whats your budget?

The Allez is nice for sure, depends on whether you’re happy with Roadracer style mudguards.

Have a look at the cannondale synapse alu. The new 2011 ones take full guards, they look really nice

Why can’t we sit this one out? are our armed forces not stretched enough as it is?

Not against it per se, unsure how effective it will actually be.

To be fair, it wouldn’t be the first time that this has happaned, and i think it was with specialized too, they had to ship in a load of the year prior’s frames at the last minute as the new bike’s didn’t meet the UCI regs, they had to build them all up over night.

It has, you’re right. It was Specialized Shiv TT bikes and it was because they had a non-structural fairing ahead of the head tube. It was at the TDF I think, they got caught out and didn’t have an alternative front end for the Shiv so they had to use the Transition (old bike).

Nobody had the AM shoes and other Shimano shoes to compare sizing?

Somebody help me spend my hard-earned money please!

Got a 44 in the RT81 disco slipper type and a 43 in the AM40’s.

I’m usually border line 42/43 in normal shoes.

Must have missed the part where it says it isn’t UCI compliant :?:
    Oh, it doesn’t.

doesn’t look anymore out there than other aero road bike offerings, Cervelo S3, Felt AR1 etc… why assume this is non-compliant?

    iDave,

is there any chance I can get a copy of this plan? I’ve tried Atkins and managed to shift a lot of weight but I was never happy with the amount of fat this diet contains. I’ve tried to cut back on the fat and avoid processed foods but the weight has crept back on over a 2 year period.
I’m looking for a long term approach that is healthy and won’t result in a heart attack due to my arteries been full of cookeen.
I’d be very interested in your approach.Ta

    Can I ask a question?
Did you transition into the ongoing phase of Atkins?

I think there are a lot of misconceptions about Atkins. It is true that the first two weeks are a free for all of meat and cheese, but a lot of people think that is all it is. After that it is supposed to transition to a maintenance phase that is much more manageable long term, ups the vegetable content, reduces the saturated fat and actually isn’t a million miles away from the low GI diets.

I bumped into a guy at my place today, a few months back he was out on redundancy, he took a huge payout, got a job at an IT outsourcer and his first role was being bodyshopped back into our place at a much higher day rate.

Nice work if you can get it.

Go and see a doctor. GF’s brother had something similar, but in his forearm, was a fluid build up between muscles or something (can’t remember exact details), anyway they had to go in and drain it to sort it, he’s fine now.

I think plenty of people explained why it could annoy the neighbours. Anyway, that’s besides the point, it was a low blow and I apologise.

I my own sarcastic way I’m actually trying to help. I think it is important to prove to yourself that you can do the diet and do it properly. Also in my experience, personally and others, little seemingly inconsequential cheats can quickly escalate to going fully off the wagon.

    Stuey01

Do you at least recognise this:

It’s a precedent though, yesterday you had a dollop of milk, today you had a muffin and a fruit juice… it is escalating already, 2 days in

How stupid do you think I am?

You’re the guy who cleaned your bike on a balcony right?

    Stuey01

Molgrips, in all honesty it’s probably not the end of the world that you had a dollop of milk, or a muffin.
(though spiking your insulin with a sugar loaded muffin and fruit juice whilst on a diet that is supposed to manage insulin levels is waaay off plan).

It’s a precedent though, yesterday you had a dollop of milk, today you had a muffin and a fruit juice… it is escalating already, 2 days in. How long til you excuse yourself a nice pizza dinner, or flapjack with your coffee.

If you don’t lose weight, is it the idave diets fault, or your fault?

Nah I’m not IT at all. Thats only a part of what I do, although quite a big part.

If you looked across other industries, it’s probably the best paid part of what you do, so you might want to major on it.

(Making some assumptions as I don’t know in detail what you do, however at my place the IT bands are a good chunk higher than the equivalent level in other areas)
