Really? Given that Ben Ainsley has won 4 golds (and a silver in the Olympics before those) over a period of 12 years in a sport where you can only compete in one event, I would say that his is the outstanding acheivement. But it’s sailing so he won’t win.
Not sure about Wiggins winning – hard to tell what the general public will do but I suspect Mo will top the list.

Ainsley is a great olympian of course, but you do realise that Wiggins also has 4 olympic golds, a silver and 2 bronzes. Achieved over a period of 12 years.

Friend had a nice wedding at Nonsuch Manor. Can’t imagine it would be cheap, but the cost will be largely dependent on how many guests you have. You may be able to bring it in on budget. Probably a bit more traditional than you are looking for based on what you’ve been looking at.

Edit: note to self: check the thread date. Spam alert.

I’m thinking of having a clear out and have a genesis aether road bike I bought for commuter duties that is now surplus to requirements. Could be ideal if you are interested.
    How tall are you?

Is a cable puller somehow magically better than a pair of pliers?
Why, as a strictly amateur home bike fettler, would I need a cable puller?

I’m willing to be enlightened here.

It’s ok on the motorway if you potter along at 70mph. It’s geared too low for high speed cruising. It’s not a good motorway car by any stretch of the imagination but acceptable at 70mph.

I just bought one. 2 weeks ago. As a second car I love it, it great fun to whizz around the city in. The ride is a bit crashy but i can live with it. It corners on rails, is quite quick for such a small engine if you keep the revs up, hilarious fun. I have on-street parking so the tiny size is great for that.
Not done bikes in the back yet, but can’t see it being an issue with the seats down, prob a both wheels off job. I will probably get a rack but not gotten round to it yet. There is a lot more usable space than the 500, wider boot opening and a more square load area.
I drove one back to back with a fiesta st, the fiesta was quite nice, and more roomy than the panda. But it doesn’t have anywhere near as much character.
33mpg at the moment, entirely in town driving and tbf I’ve been caning it at every opportunity.

    Get thee to a shop!

I have a very wide forefoot, across the toes. The best boots for me are salomons, which I found have a roomy toe box but are narrow in the heel, so they hold my foot in nicely.
    Maybe try some.

    Cheers

your first one is the best with a crisper fold, you need to be able to see the scarf incl. the tassles.

    Agree with this.
The green scarf photo is the best, in terms of showing the product anyway, I can’t comment on the techie photo geek aspects.

I think the photos are good. The driftwood works.

The scarves look nice, when are you going to start flogging them and from where? Would make a good pressie for the missus, she loves a scarf.

I knew on the first date with my now wife, I did know her beforehand though and we had spent a couple of evenings getting to know each other better whilst on nights out with friends before our first official date.
Been married 18months, together 7.5 years.

I have one and would say I hope you don’t suffer from a bad back as the ride is firm but they are very good fun to drive.

    No worries there.

Have you heard about the koni rear damper modification? I’ve heard that whilst it doesn’t improve the hard ride it does improve “pogo-ing”?

The “gesture of good will” he has made is (in my opinion) because he knows he hasn’t got a leg to stand on and he is hoping that by offering you a “reduced” settlement that you’ll just agree without contesting it.
I’ll bet he’s played this game before with your predecessors too.

Wow, your landlord sounds like a right con artist. That is a disgrace.
What an absolute pain in the jacksie.
The DPS is there for your protection so hopefully this will get sorted out in your favour.
Did you have an inventory upon taking occupation and again on leaving?
Do you have any written communications between you and the landlord regarding the issues you faced when you moved in? Email from you to him complaining about the broken heater for example?

Edit: you’ve answered my questions whilst I was typing them.
As toys19 said, no inventory means he has no proof that you are responsible for any of it.

    Best of luck.

Might be worth paying for an independent inventory service in the future – I’ve had to use these before and whilst I resented the cost at the time, hearing a tale of woe like yours makes the £100 or so seem worth it for peace of mind.

Parking is easier in my T5 than in my A4

    Rightio…

What transporter were you driving, sounds very different to mine!

A rental. I’m prepared to believe that a nice top spec one is better than the one I had.
Still I personally wouldn’t have one as my main vehicle.

    Stuey01

I was dead keen on getting a van and had my heart set on a transporter. Until I hired one to move house. Horrible thing to drive, no way I would have one as a main vehicle over a car unless I absolutely had to for work, as I work in an office job this is not a likely scenario.
As an only vehicle there are too many downsides imho. Parking is a nightmare, increased tolls, lousy visibility, lack of comfort, poor driving position, heavy clutch, awful gearbox that feels like stirring porridge etc etc.
I still get a little van envy when I see a nice tricked out one, but for me it would only work as a second, occasional vehicle. There are too many compromises the rest of the time.

In your situation I would be buying a bike rack, and/or getting an estate car.

    Neil,

I just this week joined up with BADtri myself. Like you I am starting from beginner status… a poor runner, slightly better than poor swimmer, OK cyclist. Decided to do a few tri’s next year and thought I would get involved with a club for motivation and access to training.
I did Blenheim sprint last year and it was ace, got round but really struggled on the swim and run. What I noticed about it was that pretty much everyone was helpful friendly and supportive. I saw hardly any negative attitude and the whole thing was a very positive, inclusive experience. You’ll see all sorts just trying to get round, you won’t embarrass yourself, especially if you commit to a bit of training.
My advice would be to sign up to some sprint events now, that way you won’t back out.. plus a lot of the good events get sold out fast. I’m doing Duston (Northamptonshire) as my first of the season next year, it is April 21st, so nice and early in the season, and a pool swim to ease into it. Will probably do Blenheim again as well.
I’d be happy to meet up for mutual moral support as new members when going along to the first club training session, I’m in Bishopston and will be going to the Horfield leisure centre based swim sessions and the saturday cycle rides.

    Cheers,

    Stu

    DH & BMX then….

What makes you think that these sports are any cleaner than others?

BMX is pretty much all about the explosive sprint to the first corner, that is very open to performance improvement through use of PEDs.

Are these available for download on an Ipad? Otherwise it means dragging the laptop into the man room, which is a pain

Download it to your laptop, add it to your itunes library, sync to iphone, Ipad etc. I put it on my iphone and then play it through the apple tv to get it on big screen.

Revolver is the only sufferfest vid I have, first time I did it I was cursing the parentage of those who made it. It’s great stuff.

Haven’t got any photos, but one of my friends has a BMW M Coupe (the old z3 based breadvan) with a bike rack on the roof, we managed two of us with full camping gear, bikes etc for a weekend in Wales over Easter.

Does he live in Bristol? there’s a bloke round the corner from me with one of those and the bike rack is a permanent fixture on the roof.

In the 10 years i’ve had the bill account it is the first time it’s gone into the red

Ive had this before and they weren’t prepared to listen.

    So which is it?

Free banking – I’m sure HSBC just let it sit there and are not investing it, trading etc etc…

Of course they are, which is why you don’t pay for your basic banking services, unlike in many other countries. If you paid an account fee, and I’m sure they have several “added value accounts” then you would have an overdraft facility and wouldn’t have gotten charged.
You want your cake and eat it too.

Perhaps you should manage your money a bit better and stop blaming others for your own cock up.

How much do you pay for your free banking service btw?

In contrast I have some Castelli free aero bibs and various Gore/Endura/DHB offerings ranging from cheap to midrange. The castelli shorts are significantly better.
EDIT: The others are acceptable, nothing wrong with them, they just aren’t as good.

It was Martyn Ashton and Martin Hawes. IIRC Ashton was always the more talented of the pair.

Some of the comments on youtube are funny “Danny maca.. who? This guy is the new boss!”

New?!?! he’s been around doing crazy shizzle like this for >15 years.

Must be so difficult on a road bike, love this video.
