The mtbscotland.net guys go to beecraigs occasionally.

Apologies if mentioning another forum is bad form.

Hope xc have a better reliability record than pro11 as far as i can tell from personal and friends experiences. Unless you need bolt through i would recommend getting some new rims on your hubs.

    XM 719s are good rims.

    Not very light either.

My heckler with a coil shock is only a kilo heavier.

    Internal cable routing, no thanks.

A few folk seem to have had too much coffee already.

Anyone want to start a thread about dogs, they are usually pretty amusing?

Glad your little ones ok though.

No worries. I’m always a bit afraid of saying the G word in these types of posts as some take it as an insult. None was intended!

Google shows loads of 6904 2rs bearings, from unbranded types at about £2, branded bearings like skf/koyo/fag, to fancy ceramic jobs which cost a fortune.

I use cheap non stainless bearing off ebay. Fine so far.

A mech with little play in it after wearing out 3 sets of jockeys is good going. Obviously this doesn’t apply to SRAM jockeys which tend to seize before they wear out.

Most folk i know who had an xt shadow bent it.

XTR m970 inners are particularly cheese like and have a different offset so you can’t use cheap ones. I’m going to bodge it with spacers.

Respect to LD junior, i don’t fancy n3rd brakeless, gearless and rigid.

I paid just over £300 for an Evil Sovereign. Its really good fun, great on jumps, nice and small so you can move around on it.

Paint is fine on my 06. Great bike, love it to bits. You can put enormous tyres on the back if you find it harsh. I don’t.

Most versatile of all my bikes, does most things reasonably well. I have lyriks on mine, rarely need to use 160mm though.

    Climbs reasonably well.

Mine is 14.1kg with lyriks, thomson, xtr, xo, carbon bars, ti bits and fat tyres.

Earlier frames were made in the USA.

The matchmaker style bracket allows a nice clean setup with either normal Oro or short Bianco levers.

However the bolts stick up a bit and it really hurts when you hit your knee. And they come loose a lot.

My raceface bb is still fine after 2 1/2 years, have been through 6 shimanos and 4 superstar in that time on other bikes.

I put cheap bearings from ebay in superstar cups now, and try not to over tighten things any more

Sounds like the Mrs will easily cope with GT red or black or Innerleithen xc. Both so close to Edinburgh its hard to recommend the other stanes.

The need for bleeding sounds like Haemochromatosis?

Odd diagnosis to make without a few more tests.

Internet advice is no substitute for going to see your Doc.

As for good news, if it is haemochromatosis, correctly treated patients who don’t have liver cirrhosis have a normal life expectancy iirc.

I get a lot of use from the travel adjust on most of my forks.

Wee hardtail jumps better with 100mm, 120mm is better for trails.

Heckler climbs steep stuff better on 115mm than 160mm, even when trying my best to use proper technique.

A more xc hardtail has adjustable forks but gets left in 130mm all the time.

I’ve had a few non adjustable travel forks and really missed the choice.

Sorry, hideous isn’t it, I needed a commuter frame and this was £130 in a sale ages ago. Even uglier now with a lock mount, airzound and lots of grime.
