I have Neutron mag-ti pedals and they have been good so far. Bigger platform than DX or Cullys or Trailkings, thinner than the first two. Super light. Grippy. They don’t say superstar on them so i don’t have to endure stories about pads, rocks, octopii etc. Worth an extra tenner.

I also have a 150mm hub, Generator i think. Seems fine, not had it long enough to comment on reliability.

sideways loads cause burping i thought?

Maybe try a a thicker tube.

A light dual ply will be a flimsy one i suppose.

Dual ply maxxis and DH tubes survived a run at Fort William with 18 psi today. Rim isn’t so happy but never mind.

Still loving that blur 4x cheers.

I’m just back from FW. The red is good fun, and 8 inch bikes are completely rubbish on it.

Boardwalk is easy, and has enough grip in the dry. Just ride at the pace you would normally ride a 3 foot smooth trail with a drop on one side and you won’t have any problems.

Rest of the trail is pretty good.

    There are uphill bits!

iirc hope don’t sell bearings for the old headsets any more but will do a trade in for a new one.

Bummer as i have 4 old ones.

    I have a heckler,sx, a mate has a pitch and i’ve ridden a quake.

Heckler is a good do everything bike, and the bearings last a long time. Feels a lot shorter and more manoeuvrable than the pitch. Heckler has lyriks, 70mm stem, coil shock, 14.1kg.

SX is a pig to pedal up hills. much better for Dh stuff than a heckler.

Just got a blur 4x and its more fun than any of them. Bit wee for long days and i wouldn’t want to ride it down Fort William DH.

Another mate has an 08 enduro, despite it looking wrong its a very nice bike, if a little long.

Yet another has an 06 enduro. Its really good too.

Run them wherever it suits you. Avid or formula brakes with a matchmaker type clamp and x9/x0 is pretty nice, makes it easy to get things set up nicely. The formula clamps are not as good as the avids, they occasionally come loose and move a little.

My LBS seems to be concentrating on repairs these days. I guess he doesn’t want to have stock sitting around. I tried to buy some Saint cranks at RRP but he wouldn’t sell me them as it was cheaper to buy them elsewhere.

Fox fluid is Torco RSF medium with a different label.

Even heavier bike. Getting it up here was not pleasant.

After a week riding in scotland and another week riding with BasqueMTB i’m absolutely cream crackered and ready for holidays to finish. I may change my mind on monday morning!

I suspect the board walk is a means to an end, its a big peat bog up there, would be very hard to build a track otherwise. The DH is a “raft” of hardcore on top of the peat iirc.

i doubt you will notice a weight difference, its only a few grammes between deore and xtr inner and middle rings. I was very suprised when I weighed them all.

Black and grey riding gear is just so boring. Everyone in the uk seems to have the same dreary endura/altura shorts, tops and jackets. Dull!

Hopefully you still have the plastic card that came attached to the keys with the replacement key code number on?

Lots of goggles out there, hard to tell if they fit properly from others recommendations.

Spy Alloy fog less than Oakley MX.

Fragile, expensive, wear out fast, sideknobs rip off.

If most tyres are fine if you have the skills, why do top racers change tyres for different conditions.

Buy Gatorade when you are there from any supermarket. Cheap, tasty, does the job.

Ah, if he had a workshop pump and you had already bought something he’s an eejit imo.

TJ, re seals, fair enough when they are new but if your bearings are rough and you are skint there is little choice.

Aye, i got the Allen Key, will keep it safe with the press. Cheers!

Rear tire was hilariously slidey even on the dry trails earlier in the week. No braking grip to speak of. Stupid blue groove on the front was even worse. Back to Maxxis for me.

They don’t have to lend you stuff.

I would have bought a small item, engaged in some chat and then asked for a shot of a pump. Or tried other riders.

Car garages have been happy to quickly let me use an allen key in the past.
