Used or new BMX cruisers with 24″ wheels are really cheap compared to MTBs and are ideal for pump tracks. Slightly easier to ride than a normal BMX too!

My montaro is so wobbly it’s been retired.

There’s excellent riding there. You’ll see bikes all day and will go mad if you don’t have yours.

I’ve no complaints about my enduro wides, and the service at hunt is top notch. I had a slightly sticky freehub and they collected the wheel to fix. I had put a big ding in the rim so they gave me a whole new wheel for free!

I used to buy expensive handbuilt wheels with Hope, Syntace or DT hubs. I have a pile of expensive obsolete hubs now. Nobody ever gave me a free DT or Mavic rim.

Steadyracks are a great solution, particularly for those who dont want to lift bikes on to hooks.

I have a good condition 26″ SID with maxle. Black, no faults. Been in a box for a few years since I stopped using them.

I’ve had a fair number of yodel deliveries recently, and a collection. It’s all gone well tbh. I guess my local guy is good.
Sorry to hear of all these problems.

I find it more comfortable than most bags, and less sweaty. The fabric is a bit thin and tears easily (compared to an old school camelbak havoc). However I liked the bag enough to buy another. Merlin had them really cheap recently.

Sockets, old bearings and a plastic tube out of a roll of tape works fine on pro2 hubs.

Great, I’m glad I posted. It’s slightly tight but it does go in and out easily enough.

Mine are too close together to allow the bikes to be folded against the wall.

Lots of people ask about these and tyre sizes. In case they look here, the biggest I have managed to fit in to a standard size steadyrack is a 2.5wt minion dhf on a 30mm internal width rim.

I have a pro elite, with the tray. Every time I use it I’m glad I have it. Its solid, the clamp is good, it packs up quickly and is generally a very nice thing.

There are loads of those cat scarer things near me. I can hear them as can the Mrs.

Jinhao pens are great value, loads to choose from under a tenner. Most come with a converter so you can use ink from a bottle.

Lamy have some good value pens too.

Having had a pretty big burglary myself, I’d suggest it’s much easier to try to forget about it. Sweating over all the details won’t help you put this behind you.

I used renovo stuff on my mx5 vinyl roof. There’s a cleaner and another proofer. It was really good. There’s a version for a fabric roof too.

I’ve been pretty lax with bladder washing over the years. I generally drink a water/apple juice mix and sometimes forget to wash it out after a ride.

My cleaning regimen is rinse out after use if I remember, hang it up, sometimes wash with fairy, good long soak in baby bottle steriliser solution maybe monthly. The hose gets the brush run through it monthly too. If the valve gets manky I put it in the ultrasonic cleaner.

Despite being manky, it’s never made me ill.

I’ve recently moved and have been enjoying sorting out my garage. I was in a flat and now have a pitched roof double garage to play with.

The breeze block walls have taken 40l of vinyl Matt so far. There are still some deep holes that I’m not going to fill. The main purpose was to make it brighter and reduce dust. It’s working and I can’t face any more painting. I used a long pile roller. Looking back I could have sprayed it.

The floor needs a bit of work. The concrete slab is raised slightly (maybe 2cm) in the middle. There’s a crack running down the middle. I suspect it’s subsided a bit with the exceptionally dry weather. The power door needs a push to close. I’m not sure what’s best to do here. Screed it and raise the door, or take a grinder and wire brush the the bit that blocks the door. Raising the floor would help with slight water ingress on windy days. Any suggestions are welcome!

I’ve lost man points buy buying a precut workbench. I’m a bit short of time so cheated here. I’m going to attach it to the wall and floor, and put some hardboard on top. Tool board and box thing from lidl will go on the wall behind the bench.

Lidl had bench vices a few weeks back so have one of those to go on. Old Record vices of gumtree were quite expensive and the two I went to see were cracked. Guys claimed not to have notice!

Tool cabinet is sorted, Halfords black one.

I replaced my old fluorescent tubes with two led battens claiming 10000 lumens each. They are pretty bright.

I’ve gone for steadyracks on the walls for most of the bikes. I like the ability to swivel the bikes which allows closer placement without making it awkward to get bikes in and out. At the start of the run of racks is a corner so a cheaper hook is being used as the swivelling function is wasted there. A shelf will go above these racks for extra storage.

I’m going to try a pulley system to get some narrow bar bikes up between the joists and out of the way.

Shelving hasn’t been decided yet. Bigdug have a lot of options but I’m unsure about MDF or chipboard shelves. Homebase have some 60cm deep 2m wide all metal shelves which look pretty good. I’m thinking some Really Useful boxes will be good for keeping dust off some stuff.

Its been a lot of fun planning all this and it’s slowly progressing.

I’ve never been to those places but have ridden in the area with Doug at basquemtb. To get the best out of your time there I would highly recommend his business.

I use a strap wrench if mine is being stubborn. The service video suggests clamping the top nut in the bike stand and turning the post.

I had a very large dehumidifier and a fan running in my kitchen after a leak from upstairs. Jeans or thick towels were dry in less than two hours!

    Try
    150g sugar
    6 cloves
    Cinnamon stick
    2 star anise
    3 bay leaves
    1 Vanilla pod
Shave the peel off 2 Clementines, a lemon and a lime.

Heat with a little wine then boil for about 5 minutes then add the juice of the Clementines and 2 bottles of wine.

Cathkin is never worth a visit tbh, particularly compared to the other places mentioned on this thread.

I’m pretty sure the staff will have no issues with food delivery (but do ask them), it’s common in wards particularly in the evening when things are a bit quieter. Staff have to eat too!

Old school stove top kettle here, pretty much indestructible. On induction it’s faster than my old plug in kettle too.

I’ve got a 175 inline. The lever is great and the basic collar off clean and regrease is genuinely a 5 minute job. Great saddle clamp too.

My current pen of choice is a TWSBI diamond 580al. It’s great, the cap screws on so doesn’t go rattly and is airtight so the nib doesn’t dry out. The reservoir is huge and lasts a few days. I write a lot at work.

My pilot capless usually is the favourite but I dropped it again and need to buy a new nib. Ouch.

The lamy studio is relegated to spare as the lid went slack and doesn’t stay on.

There’s a kaweco sport somewhere which is a really nice compact pen but it doesn’t have the optional clip so isn’t getting used.

I’m not brave enough to buy anything more expensive, it might get dropped or lost as I don’t work at a desk.

I’m interested to see the press release, particularly if it covers what the plans are for the boggy bit and the upper sections. This destructive wide path along the route of the current main path cannot be the best solution.

The existence of Aberfoyle trails does absolutely nothing to mitigate this.

I really don’t buy the accessibility for all thing.

You’d need two witnesses for anything to be remotely likely to happen. Legend and I didn’t see him pulling the logs on to the trails but it’s very likely to be the same guy. I didn’t hear the threats last time. Thebikingsquirreland friend may be in a position to make a report.

Unfortunately this guy appears to be still at it. I was up on Saturday and passed the guy, tried a cheery hello but was frowned at. He goes round the opposite way to me so usually meet him again. It was later than expected and he was looking rather sweaty. I suspect this was due to the large amount of wood scattered all over the trail which wasn’t there a few hours earlier.
