Funny thing with bloods, both riders I know who got one have now gone back to 5s. Does that say something?

Newer Giant Reign! Really get on well with mine. Cheap and pretty bombproof. With nothing special (with reverb and big tyres) mines under 29lbs. Low bb, 66.5 ha. Really fun bike to ride.

Me and my 2011 Giant Reign…
    http://www.rootsandrain.com/photos/229778

Brilliant bike! Climbs and descends way better than the 5 and spicy i’ve had before. Had a Trance X just before getting the Reign last year. The Reign doesn’t climb nearly as well, but more than makes up for it when you go back down. Fairly light bikes (mine is 13kg) capable of all types of riding. Only problem with 2011- is they have a push fit bb and no iscq mounts. I run a single chainring upfront and found just a top guard isn’t enough so I now run a bashwidge (2 light bashrings). Not a problem if you run 2 rings up front though.

Yep brilliant weekends riding. Really good tracks, good atmosphere and sun! Negatives for me were minor timing issues (think most have been sorted now) and some slack course taping. I fully expect Steve to have learned lessons from the minor problems and the rest of the series should be good.

(I think proper tubeless tyres burp less because they seat better, and I’m told that burping happens mostly when radnessabounds)

UST tyres can actually seat worse on stans rims…the burping happens because the thinner tyres have less sidewall support so tend to roll more when being aggresive.

I find the best option is something like a maxxis EXO. Its around 850g and has a thicker sidewall (more like 1.5ply)so it supports being run tubeless better. I still run lighter tyres, but you gotta keep the pressures up (25-30psi) to stop them squirming too much.

You just need yellow tape. Don’t need tubeless specific tyres depending on your riding…

Great 2 days riding…glad to see the organisers booked good weather! Bring on round 2…

Just wanna point out that a reverb uses suspension fluid not dot fluid. So any bleed kit will do as long as it has the right fluid in it.

Had not problems with mine on the front ridden pretty hard. As with all tubeless (stans, ust, ghetto), if you run the tyres soft enough and ride hard enough you’ll break the seal. For me the benefits of tubeless are not running soft tyres, but the extra grip and lower resistance you get with same pressures.

Just fitted a Highroller 2 EXO onto a flow rim (with just yellow tape) yesterday. Went up fine with soapy water and a track pump. Pretty good tyre, rolls well for what it is and plenty of grip!

Question is, if the original owner buys back the bike is he then the original owner again? Don’t think warranties have anything about 2nd/3rd owner, just original…

Brilliant event, great tracks, atmosphere and organisation. Good to see some top names there. Thanks to the organisers and all involved,, especially the marshals!

Yep i’m in, should be a good race on great trails. Think Helen still has a few sets of Full Beam lights to lend for folk who don’t have lights.

Now now Stuart, don’t let actual verifiable facts get in the way of a good old road v offroad training argument !

    Play the game son.
Well I guess i’ll see the result first hand…just got me a road bike so see if it makes me any fitter…

Apparently Julien Absalon only rides off road. I think he probably meets the fit and fast criteria.

    Not sure about that…

just got myself a specialized sauserwind 2.0 on the front and a fastrack 2.0 on the rear. Pretty good combo…rolls fast and the front has a little bite on loose stuff.

Well, I have a medium trance x. Tall headtube, yes, but no taller than an 18″ orange 5 with a headset. I run mine with 150 revelations and a 3mm offset bush. Rides ok on dh tracks, but brilliantly on UK singletrack. Love the bike, only problems I see are the not so good rear tyre clearance (not at sides, but height) and the funny shock size (although there are now after market shocks avail in this size) .

In what world do you brake hard on a steep tech bit of track with front brake only? Anyway, sounds like you want a gearbox bike.

I would love to see that too…without the official tool.

Nor am I but you seem to be telling me that I am wrong. You must be a lot more awesome than me.

    I’m humbled
Maybe your pressure gauge need recalibrating?

Im with GW here. At 11.5 stone tubeless squirm all over the place at any less than a little under 30. Clearly i’m also pretty awesome 😉

    GW…

Buzz – maybe I should have added “unless you’re a seriously limp wristed rider”

Fergus Lamb, Joe Barnes, James Shirly all limp wristed riders then? All have ran lock-ons overhanging bar ends. Only have problems in a crash, when the end can snap off!
I would get new bars mind.

the bolles do not have edge distortion, they are ce marked for uv protection in the right tint

Good for you if you dont notice it, but i’ve had 4 different pairs (all different designs) of the bolles glasses and they all distort.

    stuartanicholson

I know they are over your budget, but I would recommend oakley half jackets. The optics on the cheaper glasses are poor(edge of lens distorts which I couldnt ride with) and lenses scratch easily.

Haha, well maybe not on a oem shock. They are the importers, so would expect as much service. How much was the service again?

They sold the product to the shop you bought it from…so yes you have paid them…and i would expect nothing less at the price they charge.

SAN – are you the SN that rode yesterday and/or the SN known as FatElvis?

Yep, I rode yesterday, got a 19.31. Not sure who FatElvis is…although i do know an elvis!

I had the same problem with a 2010 Revelation Team. Turns out the shaft in the air side was scored so air leaked out. Warranty replacement part and all good now.

To be fair, if your looking at splashing £1500+ on a bike a 3hr drive wouldnt stop me test riding…
