My trance is 31 with no particular weight saving bits including spare tube and pump attached. Pike, chain guide, XT/SLX, transfer dropper, m530 pedals, no carbon, maxxis exo tyres.

28lb is realistic. Remove the chain guide, pump, tube, dropper and replace alloy bits with carbon.

TBH local experience was that they talked a good talk and posted pics of them throwing a shovel of hardcore in some mud but they didn’t really do anything. Any actual building was done by the same locals as usual.
May have been the case at the inners round but I know that’s not what happened at grizedale or dyfi out even afan

They did a fair bit of work on the Caberston side at the inners round.
I didn’t race any last year due to the FF helmet rules and weird race format. Best track taping at any Enduro I’ve seen though.

Do you use a 140mm or 160mm fork? With a 160mm the trance has a 66 ha. Plenty slack for majority of UK riding (and lots elsewhere). If you ride lots of flat out fast dh stuff, a 1deg angleset might be an option.

Just fitted a set of m8000. Did a proper bleed on both before riding mind. No issues, in fact I’d say they have a better feel than the m785 they replaced.

You’ll need a Trek Madone BB Kit if you don’t already have the seals and tube. The bearings should be a light press fit.

Specialized SWAT or Raceface stash bib shorts. I have some SWAT bibs…fit a 2nd bottle, multi-tool, co2, small box of tricks(chain link/tyre boot/patches/tubeless repair/cable ties/small tape roll) and phone in body pockets, and bar, gel, emergency blanket in leg pockets. Spare pockets in jersey for extra layer, banana, etc if needed.

Rutted ice and snow up high. Wet down low. Bit of snow forecast tonight.

spending time finding tyres with strong enough carcasses to run at lower pressures so they don’t deform in corners.

Is that not the point in procore…lower pressures with normal tyres with support from the blue core? If you have to run beefy dh tyres why run procore?

Had my Foxy since 2014. I ride it all year round rain, snow or sun. It had a set of bearings at the end of the season, and has just had another set. It had a new bottom du end of last year and top bush/du not been needed. Mine has clearcoat which has done well and is only just starting to scrape up. All in all pretty good and on par with the other bikes i’ve had (giant, orange, ironhorse). Handy having Silverfish as a distributor as they’re pretty good.

Since when did £70 for a non-uplifted event become reasonable?

Is there any actual evidence that a Garmin is more accurate than a phone? Most seem to assume that the Garmin is more accurate, but is there any actual difference apart from a Garmin 500/800 can be set to record every second?

I was talking to neil on Thursday. He said funding is a nightmare. Entry fees only cover a fraction of the costs.

Would be interesting to see where it all goes…£54k isn’t a small event budget!

I’ll eat my hat if anyone who is in with the remotest chance of a win loses 30 seconds on that stage

Graves took 13 secs out of Lau (race winner) last year (and more out of many riders in the top 20) on S8 (most physical last year). S6 this year has way way way more peddling in, so my money’s on big gaps. That and the fact this year’s tracks are less technical as a whole makes me think it’ll play a big part.

I’d say i’m fairly experienced racer and I still get nervous before a race run. Once i’m into a run i’m fine, but a wee bit on the start line.

groundskeeperwilly…Enduro Lite will be pretty much as BoardinBob describes. It will remove the most technical stage to reduce the physical and technical demands of the course.

Northwind…there will still be a Dudes race separate to the SES.

Its the racing side of what most people would call a fun xc ride.

SES will not have mandatory full face helmets for 2015…oh and entries and venues go live through the website on Monday 22nd.

I have a pair and some Shimano mp66s. MP66 way more comfortable but nowhere near as stiff. I like both but they’re very different. Sizing is a little snug in the Terraduro.

Depending on how wide the tyre is, wider rims can help tubeless tyres to be more stable.

BoardinBob…It was an ‘Enduro’ race so we felt it needed some physical sections. Plus variety is the spice of life…

mactheknife…RE stages 1 and 2…General feeling was that S1 would rut up a little at the top but the middle and bottom would be fine and S2 is mostly a 20yr old DH track so would hold up. I swept on race day so was last down and had the stickiest conditions. Whilst the top of S1 rutted up more than I thought for the most it was perfectly rideable with the correct tyres (ie mud). Fitness and energy levels exposed lots of people here. No issues with S2 although it was quite slippy! Stu.

Just to clarify…IMTBR’s future is still undecided, but there will defiantly be a SES in 2015…

This years Day/Night will be 1 fairly long stage and one medium length. 1 practice lap and 2 race laps will be fine

Yes, you can refill the oil from the top, but you ideally want to clean out the seal areas too (so you need to remove the foot nut to remove lowers). I do mine with a socket and extended t bar. If you turn the t bar sharply it eventually catches. Bit of a pain mind! Some folk use an impact wrench to do it.

It’s around £100 for the bits and a few hours to fit. Depends if you value your free time that highly. Also, are you planning to tow a caravan with a 1.0, X reg Polo?!

    Second that!

The Industry backing for 2013 is amazing, we have support sponsors already and should have news on title sponsor very shortly. Category sponsorship will be open soon to.

Does that mean that entry fees will be going down for 2013? 😉

Maybe the full face debate wouldn’t be so feisty if more manufacturers made enduro specific helmets…

Marzocchi mechanic recommended removing the foam rings. I don’t think you can get a firm spring, soft or medium only.

Although I guess it all depends on the rider and their style. Minnaar runs a larger rear rotor as he tends to drag the rear brake…sure doesnt seem to slow him down…

    stuartanicholson
    Free Member

Everyone seems to think that the front brake will give more braking traction/power…and they would be right, but only in theory. In reality, off road) you use the rear brake a whole lot more as there are few circumstances in which strong front braking power can be used without losing traction. Its easier to control a bike that’s losing traction from the rear than the front.

Try a lower volume air can. Or pack the air can with grease, bands, plastic strips to reduce the air volume.

I run my reign quite soft, probably 35% and it feels good. I had a trance x before which I setup just the same. If you have an xv aircan you might have problems with blowing through travel and bottoming.
