I have just taken a pair off my bike, tried to run them tubeless but found to many pin holes in the sidewalls to pug with wheel milk so just fitted tubes.

The rear tyre has not lasted that well, the sidewalls are badly worn and have a few cuts one quite bad that has started to peel a few layers off. I think they have been on for about 6 weeks.

Grip wise they are as good as High Rollers with better traction on the back for climbing.

Hi Sean, no I’m about 11.5 stone in all my gear so going by what you said the standard spring should be fine.

I can always try what Finkill says if they still feel a bit stiff.

Yea feedback not the best and I don’t think purple forks and a green frame will look good. Really would prefer the tapered steerer to save me getting a new crown race.

Sean do you know if it is possible to get lighter springs, had a quick look but couldn’t see any.

Thanks for that, sounds like they are getting back to the good old days. Will have a look around and see what deals are going on the tapered steerer ones.

    Have you tried them then?

Does anyone know what the standard spring is?

Not sure about Aviemore, but just back from a trip over Mount Keen. Weather was ace and next to no snow around.
Would post a few photo’s up but not sure how to.

    With the Lairig Ghru
is it just a case of ride all the way to braierach then turn around and come back ?
everybody says it is a great blast down, is that heading from braeirach back to aviemore?

I have never been as far as Braierach, I have had a day going via the Chalamain Gap and droping in to the Lairig Ghru, not really worth it once you are in the Lairig Ghru it’s pretty flat and quite boggy in parts. You are better off just to head up till it flattens out and head back down.

Glenfeshie is good fun but be prepaired for a long climb that you can see streching out in front of you.

Was up in Aviemore last weekend and did the Lairig Ghru and Badaguish trails and was surprised how dry it was and after the week of dry weather we have just had some bits will be dry and dusty.

They are doing some trail maintenance at the top of the Lairig Ghru just out of the forest so we didn’t get up as far as normal but it’s still a great blast back down.

I have a cocker and to be fair have only ever taken him riding twice and he was ok if he did lag behind abit to busy sniffing. But thats just the way he his, he never takes his noise of the ground.

Like bobbyspangles said all dogs are different.

I’ve done most of the ridge in a day a good few years ago and it is not the place for inexperianced climbers and I would say you need a rope a few wires, slings and quickdraws. You will need a rope to ab into the TD gap and climb out, climb kings chimney and ab off the in pin. To try and do the whole ridge in a day is a very hard and serrious day out, when I tried it I was climbing E3 and would not have liked to solo the td gap or kings chimney due to the highly polished nature of the routes.

I have a Mondeo Edge estate with a 1.8 tdci engine on a 57 plate and have covered over 150000 miles in it and find it a nice place to be and well equiped for the base model. Had a Ghia for 2 weeks before xmas with the 2.0L engine and found that even better.
Can’t comment on the BMW, waiting to order my new new car and have been told it will have to be the new Passat as Ford are not willing to do deals with fleet companys.

Just do it yourself, you will find a guide in this months MBR.
I had to do my Joplin 3 about a 2 months ago and it’s very straight forward.
If you need a new guide block or other parts I’m sure you could get them from 2Pure, they are very good.

If you can’t find the how to in MBR I think I still have a copy of a guide send me a pm with your email and I will forward it on.

I have only ever used Black Diamond walking poles to ski with and have never had a problem, more than strong enough.

Going by how big the 36t one’s are and the 32t one my mate runs you will be fine with a 32t guard and a 34t ring.

Use a blade with the highest TPI you can get, the higher the number the more teeth per inch thus giving a finner cut.

Mum and Dad ordered a kitchen from B&Q when it was delivered some of the parts where missing and others they didn’t evern order. Dad not inpressed so told them to come a pick it all up and get a refund.

So I planned out what he wanted on the Ikea kitchen planner, ordered the stuff, collected it and fitted myself over a period of 2 weeks and it’s a cracking kitchen well made and solid and it cost less than B&Q. I mate fitted a Ikea one over 5 years ago and it still looks like new. Have a look at the Ikea web site the kitchen planner is great and easy to use and you get to have a 3D view and try different styles and stuff.

Sorry can’t help with a good kitchen fitter.

Had a go at the Glas Allt Shiel a few months ago and like it has been said above you can ride down to the bridge no bother after that it gets very tech and steep in parts. Depending on your skill you can ride 95% of the path from the bridge down to the forest beside the loch.

Thanks for the replies; I will differently try the 16″ after the comments above.

The guy in the shop was also saying I might be able to get a 17″ but that depends on a minimum of 50 people ordering the same size due to the price of setting the jig up etc.

If you have no winter experience but are happy to walk in any weather any other time of year and your nav is on the ball. I would say the best thing to do is go on a winter skills course winter walking is a different game.

You need crampons and a walking axe, if you slip on snow/ice with out a axe you would find it hard to stop yourself. That’s why it’s a good idea to do a winter skills course as they will teach you how to use all the gear.

Crampon wise if your boots are in class B1 then you can use crampons that are C1 but not any higher. The boot is the part of the system which provides the stiffness for the crampon. Grivel G10’s are a very good walking crampon.

Have a word with your local gear shop for advice, they might also run winter courses. Tiso have some good staff and also run courses.

I didn't say I wanted to try it, I wouldn't expect a shop to get a bike in just so I could try it out.

All I would like to do is have a look at it have a seat on it to see the size is right if it this then I would buy it.

I don't know any one who would have a 2011 bike apart from Sam Hill 😆

The nearest Specialized Concept store is 300 miles away. Do they stock the complete range?

Why would you use rim tape? You don't need it with a mavic tubeless rim when you run a tube, I have used tubes with 823's, 819's and sx's and never even thought to use rim tape.

    What tires are you running?

Have you checked the axles? do you just buy the bearings or the complete pro pack kit?

The bearings are meant to be fitted with bearing fit compound to keep them in place.
