Yip had the same thing on my Inline Coil. I had a knock when the climb switch was on. It was sent back to TF and fixed under warranty.

Didn’t feel like it affected the performance just annoying.

Not long fitted one to the front, nice and big volume proper 2.5″ Have only used them in the dry and have been impressed with the grip.

They feel a lot like a Magic Mary, been a few years since I’ve used a DHF.

I use the same shoes and pedal combo. I had the same problems and have just fitted the longer axle kit which solves the problem.

    Have a look here http://backcountryresearch.com/race-strap-mtb-saddle-mount.html.

All you need to hold a tube, tyre lever and co2. Works with dropper posts and never moves.

Great bike handles every thing you could through at it, shapeshifter works well makes climbing better.

I am on my 3rd shapeshifter so they do fail but are replaced in a few days no questions asked. The good thing is if it goes it will stick in dh mode so you can still use the bike till the replacement arrives.

The thing that is really starting to get to me is the way it goes through lower pivot bearings I am on my 3rd set and it looks like they are starting to go. Not sure what’s going on but my mate has had the same problem, my bike is only 9 months old so it’s not looking good.

The bike is ridden 3-4 times a week in all weathers and the lower bearings have no extra protection other than the standard rubber seals.

The choice is yours, still a great bike to ride.

I have a pair of the Race Face stash bib shorts, I have only used them twice for two 3 hour rides and I am impressed with them.

The water does get warm but not any more so than with my Camelbak. I use the pockets for bars, gels and a few tools. I also have a Swat bottle cage with bolt on multi tool, stem cap chain tool and a strap to secure a tube, co2 and tyre lever to the under side of my saddle.

Really enjoy riding without a pack but would only use it for local loops.

I take it you are running a fork with a tapered steerer?

If so you can only have the top cup zero stack. For a tapered steerer you need a top cup to this spec ZS49/28.6 and a bottom cup like this EC49/40.

I have ridden XO1 since February last year and to be fair it’s been a let down, my experience is that it constantly needed retuning time and time again and the noise was really annoying.

I now run a XO1 cassette and XTR mech and shifter and it works first class way better than the sram stuff, fitted it before Xmas and it’s not need to be tweaked yet.

I got a Strive Race 9 just before Christmas and have had a few rides on it. I am happy to say its a good bike and feels very light and planted on the trails, handles my local trails no bother where that be rocky hill stuff or steep mud DH. Can’t say I’ve noticed any great advantage with 650b apart from on one section of flat trail the bike does carry more speed over it.

The shapeshifter works well and does change the way the bike feels. I ordered a Race small as that is what the fit finder said and was worried it would be to small but the fit is perfect and bigger than my old medium nomad. I think the old strives where short but the new race ones are not.

I was offered pedals when I received the email saying mine was to be set back to week 1, they sent me a new order conformation with the pedals added.

Not sure anyone could answer your question about week 6 being realistic, you’ll just need to wait and see.

They are good bikes and great value, mine was worth the wait.

The bike feels very good and light, only four rides in but impressed with it. The geometry feels spot on, was concerned when the fit guide came back with a race small for me but the bike fits great and the race medium would have been a bit of a a stretch. It does carry a bit more speed over the rough stuff compared to my old Nomad but again I don’t think 650b is a huge improvement.

The shapeshifter works well, very easy to get in and out of. It’s hard to tell how much of a difference it makes, I wouldnt say it’s a game changer but I have not done any long sustained fire road climbs to tell if it makes climbing better, having a higher bb is nice on the tech singletrack stuff.

The quality of the frame is first class both inside and out and looks far better in real life than in the photos. Anyone who has ordered one will be more than happy with it. Value for money it’s great I was thinking about the new Nomad but for frame, forks and wheels and a few other bits I was going to be £4000, so managed to save a bit of cash for some component swaps.

I have allways used RX Sport and can’t fault them. I have two pairs of riding glasses both Oakley Flak Jackets one with clear lenses and the other tinted, both are fitted with Oakley perscription lens and are great quality.

Best thing you could do if you are going to buy Mavic. I had two pairs covered under MP3 and used it on both sets more than once, every time the wheels came back they where as good as new. All you need to do is take you wheels in to a Mavic dealer they book them in with Mavic and send them off (you pay the postage cost) most times my wheels where back in two weeks.

It’s great value for money, you get two years or 3 rim swaps, so just before your two years is up send your wheels off to get them fully serviced.

    Buy a road bike.

I moved to Montrose just over a year ago and there is not much good riding on your door step that I have found anyway. There is some stuff over in the woods past the aerodrome that will get you out for an hour.

You must have been to Scolty if not that’s the place to head, Bennachie is just over an hours drive and worth it but you must have done that before a well.

Forfar has some nice but short trails up in the old slate quarry and Coupar Angus has some DH tracks.

If you want good quality riding you need to travel.

I have a pair of both Mavic SX’s and ST’s and they have been good wheels, but they do have problems. When I bought them I managed to get the MP3 warranty for just a £1 per wheel set and it’s been very worth while. The warranty gives you two years or 3 complete wheel rebuilds for only the cost of the warranty and postage.

The main problem I have found is the bearing preload adjuster on the rear hubs needs to be watched and the rear axles have a habit of snapping. Both wheel sets are super stiff, the ST’s are let down by only being 19mm wide. As stated above the rear rim on the Crossmax Enduro wheel set is just a ST rear with bladed spokes and for that reason I would entertain them.

I have just ordered a set of the new Crossmax XL’s, the weight is ok and the rim is 23mm so should be better than the SX’s and lighter. I don’t think it matters what wheelset you pick they all have issues, just go for what you like the look of.

I did consider carbon but couldn’t justify the price, I might try the Light Bycycle one the future but after seeing a few sets of ENVE’s bust I’m not going the shell out mega bucks.

How is the Mavic rear rim to front rim possible with out a new hub? The front wheel has 24 spokes and the rear only has 20…

Rear hub is 6903 and the freehub is 6803.

The freehub ones are not meant to be changed but you can. The bearing number above is for the XX1 freehub but I can’t see it being any different.

I did it a about a month ago and just headed straight up to the top of Beinn Ghlas followed by a short descent then up to the top of Ben Lawers. For the descent we just retraced our route, the descents are some of the best I have done. The switch backs on the way down from Beinn Ghlas are fantastic. There is not much riding time on the way up and is a good push/carry to both summits but well worth it.

We did it on a Friday evening to miss the busy crowds the mountains attract at the weekend. We managed to ride all the descents apart from one tiny section.

Thanks for that Spin, I am even more worried now. The whole thing is a joke, as I was staring to suss out for myself.

They are more concerned about figures and stats than educating the young, shameful.

To be fair I think it’s overly complicated, our daughter is in National 5 classes for all her subjects. At the last parents evening I was told that she was doing really well and will manage to achieve National 5 in all subjects, yet to me some of her marks in class tests have not been great.

She managed to pass a maths test with a mark of 47% and I was told that was a good mark, not in my day.

I have also been told you will only get a grade of either A,B,C,D or no award in National 5 and a simple pass or fail in National 4. That to me does not appear to be fair, so you get achieve 99% in N4 and a scrap a D in N5, yet the D is the better award…..

The mountains have had a lot of snow but it’s been falling as rain below 3-400m. The mountain forecast shows the frezzing level to be sitting around 6-700m so can’t see the staying much below that.

The race is 3 weeks away anyway so the weather could do anything by that time.

I run XO1 on Mavic SX wheels which run the same hub ITS 4 freehub as the new Enduro Wheels and all you need is a new freehub to allow you to fit the cassette. You can get the freehub here

I found Shimano stuff far to runny. Pedro’s synthetic lube is what I use and have been told it’s close to the Mavic stuff.

How tight have you done up the end cap on the drive side? It should be put on with loctite and tightened to 10nm but make sure the preload nut is backed right off first. How does it run with no paws in the freehub? I recall having a problem with them at on point causing an issue.

    Stu661

Did you use grease or oil in the freehub? Mavic recommends mineral oil, grease can cause the problem above. Is the bearing preload to tight? Or possible a sticky bearing I have had problems with my bearings ceasing in the freehubs.
Also watch out for the axle snapping inbetween the hub bearing and freehub, has happened once to me and twice to a mate.

Iain65 if they are the latest model you will come with silver/gray end caps for the rear axle to convert them to 12×142.
