    We have one on our FR/DH bike and its fine.

    The chainring got launched in favour of a Hope one so can’t vouch for that though.

    Definitely not a rebadged Deore M590 crank although is similar in appearance.
    The Deore arms are more scalloped on the back of them. Metal pedal inserts as well on the Zee same as SLX bash ring model.

    Mix of SLX & Deore I’d say

    Sold it on here for a steal ages ago

    Too much pain and misery.

    Have been unfortunate to own 3’s ,3.5’s and 5’s so don’t expect 7’s to be any better.

    Squeal like a bitch, difficult to bleed, expensive to bleed ( initial purchase of kit ) and unreliable.

    We have just fitted the entry level deore ones onto my sons hardtail and for the price, which was about £65 from Germany, are in a different league to the Avid brakes I have owned.

    Just bought some this afternoon from ActionSports.

    £51.00 or thereabouts.

    These are going to be sweet on my Turner Flux.

    As for the colour, they ain’t bad. Got the original fatbars on a Scott and they match the Boxxer stanchions nicely.

    @hh45

    Yes there will be some hair raising tight gaps on my local trails when I go wider !

    the thing is I’m so used to riding bikes to small for me

    Snap.

    Previous mindset of smaller bike – more chuckable / flickable if you know what I mean, even though my back would suggest otherwise at the time

    @Dickie

    Are you quite stretched out on your setup?

    @disconoir

    Take it your a similar height?
    I must admit that I’m impressed with the DW link. Out the saddle on a steep technical climb last week, felt almost like a hardtail.

    I can’t really gauge it against any other full suss. It’s been 6 years since my last one which was a Trance. The only memories from that was excessive pedal bob and a cramped cockpit.

    The only reason I’ve moved to a bouncer again is to regain a bit of comfort. TBH I’m finding I was much faster/agile/in control on a hardtail but I suppose that’s to be expected on a new ride, hence the reason I’m turning down extra hours at work and riding at any given opportunity :D

    Yeah

    A couple of 2 to 3 hour rides last week ( Ae & Mabie ).

    Back to Ae again tomorrow then Dalbeattie Sat morning.

    9mm QR Reba Teams. Really wish I’d went bolt through though.

    The post is still as it is however the new saddle is level. Well spotted, the Thompson instructions show it the other way round. It’s an inline post so I didn’t pay much attention !

    @Dickie

    Thanks for that, how many stack spacers you using ? Above the stem or below ?

    Cheers

    +1neti wash

    Menthol crystals/towel/steam ?

    Not trying to knock you but I know two friends who have had ops to remove the infected tissue from their sinuses and both say the pain is much worse post op however they both suffered for a long time before surgery.

    As mentioned time is the key, get yourself to an ENT consultant.

    I have the proper stuff. Superlube Syncolon. Don’t drop silly money on this stuff, give me a shout if you after some!

    I clean the Zerks with a brush to get the crud off then remove them and screw in a standard nipple. Simples.

    I could actually leave the standard nipples in I think. Maybe a better idea as you can get the plastic nipple covers ( ooer ) off eBay for pennies. No more cleaning prior to greasing!

    I don’t know about the 5 spot but my flux zerks are threaded so they screw out easy.
    I went down this route as I already had a standard grease gun with flexi hose and there’s no way I’m dropping 40 sheets on a daft grease gun mate.

    stu1972

    Are you bothering getting a grease gun for the zerk’s Renton?

    The only reason I ask is that I’ve got conventional 90 degree & straight grease fittings that I screw in mine and just use a standard grease gun with flexi hose.

    If you ever need any give me a shout, I’m sure I’ve spares lying around !

    saddle looks well !

    Looks better on that colour frame.

    Seeing as its a Turner and seeing as its my new bike, here’s a piccy of my new Flux.

    +1 Bondhus or Wiha.

    I’ve used many brands of hex key in an industrial environment ( so they get far more abuse )
    and can confidently say that you can’t beat Bondhus.

    Wiha and Facom would be my second choice followed by Britool and Swiss Tools

    Draper / Silverline hex keys get fired straight in the bin. Tat.

    I got a couple of ex MOD Norbar ones off eBay.

    Dirt cheap, calibrated & a good quality make.

    I’m quite happy with the 1/4 drive 5-15nm MachineMart one as well which is surprisingly accurate given its price.

    Omeprazole (PPI) can often help, but why take pills if you can change your life to be healthier (if you can)..

    I agree with what you say if it is your lifestyle that’s the cause but if its caused by say, abnormal working of the esophagus (which is my case) then I agree with my GP that long term usage of a PPI is a better prospect than risky invasive surgery

    I believe it is Wilko.

    I felt like an old man on that stuff. Almost like my hip joints were worn out !
    I know I’m 40 but I’m reasonably fit lol!

    I don’t feel any side effects on Lansoprazole though.

    stu1972

    60mg Lansoprazole daily for me I’m afraid.

    Miss one day and I get very bad reflux

    You really need to get yourself checked out. I didn’t want to take medicine daily for reflux but my own GP has told me
    that repeated burning / inflammation of the esophagus can lead to WAY nastier things.

    I was tested for that stomach bug but unfortunately I came back clear.

    @wilko1999

    I was taking omeprazole but found I got tons of musculoskeletal pain with them in my hips and legs.

    Moved to lansoprazole and have never looked back

    Simple cure: magnesium supplement. Easy

    4 weeks in taking 400mg a day hasn’t made any difference for me unfortunately.

    My mother suffers from it. She swears by Calcium supplements and claims that her symptoms have dramatically improved since taking them.

    @LoveTubs

    Wrong thing to do with 18650’s. you need them stored with 40% charge not 100%

    Charge fully before use then re-store at 40%

    @DoctorRad

    Yes Xtar’s are fine as are Callies Kustoms, genuine Sanyo / Samsung or unprotected Panasonic NCR18650B’s (which the majority are based off)

    I use AW 2900’s & 3100’s and Eagletac 3400’s and have never had any bother with them.

    I charge them to 3.75v – 3.8v (40% charge) and bung them in the fridge when not in use ( I have loads of them )
    My AW’s are quite old now and are still going strong.

    Im no expert but Im sure the general rule of thumb with 18650 batteries is to steer clear of anything with “fire” in its name eg Ultrafire. Also avoid 4sevens. Ultrafire mah ratings are utter bollocks and with a bit of googling you’ll find plenty of bad experiences with them.

    If any of you are going down the 18650 route I suggest you buy only quality cells like AW,Redilast, EagleTac, Enerpower.

    For the average Joe who doesn’t want the hassle of a hobby charger for the above batteries look towards a Pila charger or at the very least an Intellicore i4 or Xtar

    Avoid the 2 pin generic chargers like the plague.

    Each to their own like but I feel more confident using a cell which I know is a genuine Panasonic cell with a Protected PCB that has a quality control system in place.

    It wasn’t a matter of running to the LBS. Its a matter of asking if these tyres are suited to wet winter riding.

    If the opinion is that they are then fine, I’m obviously a shit rider but please don’t categorize me as someone who’ll chuck money at my local LBS in the pursuit of become a better rider lol

    I went with an un-ramped 36t hope chainring rather than the stock ring.

    +1 for the link above regarding short bolts
