+1 on the Turner bushing cost / availability.

My Flux has tore through another set of bushes and after a conversation with Dave Turner, there is a 3 week lead time before stock arrives and probably 10 days delivery after that.

Needless to say that my last Turner is now retired and I’m now rocking a Transition Scout, running on readily available bearings.

Newcastleton was ruined the minute they put the parking in the middle of the village.

I would class the entire thing as a blue route IMO. The only good part of the entire ride is the fast bit before re-entering the wooded area beside Rock UK.

    IMO No.

    Sure I just seen a maxx d mk9 for £308.
Save your pennies and benefit from increased lumens.

    Edit: £307.99 on rutland

Hoping someone can tell me whether its worth buying at £265 or buying a newer model?

I had the same model and was happy with it. The only reason you cant get that particular model is that the reflex technology is built into the new models as standard. I think the latest models may have an improved reflex tech.

Id be concerned with the battery sitting in a discahrged state for so long as these lights do have a parasitic drain.

The new Maxx D Mk9 I have just received had 35% charge out of the box and the reflex mk2 hasnt been available for at least a couple of years I think?

No cycle to work scheme available for you?
I couldnt justify spending RRP on an exposure light but get one -40% every couple of years on the scheme.

My vote for a headlight goes to the Zebralight SC600 with warm white led. Awesome little light and is usable off the helmet as well.

Smoked for 20 years and have been stopped for 7 years.

Recent lung capacity test told me I have the lung capacity of a 24 y/o

    Result.

    The hearts probably knacked though.

And the final outcome is the following…

After further riding he’s come to the conclusion that the performance of the forks outweigh the the small noise he can hear. He says you do really have to listen for it though.

I never got to hear it in person, shame really because I would have fitted them to a couple of other bikes just to rule it out. At least we have wrapped this up on good terms, I’m sure he’ll get many hours of use out of them.

    At least he’s happy.

Morally I’ve done the right thing.

I’ve invited him over for hobnobs with the bike attached to the forks.

    We’ll take it from there.

    I’ll keep you informed

Tell him that if he returns them to you, you’ll offer him a full refund, minus the cost of fitting a replacement steerer.
then once you’ve got them back, send him a bill for about eighty quid!

And a full service of course !

Thanks for that Nikk. Clarifies my position somewhat.

That had crossed my mind Renton.

    Yeah.

I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s not worth selling stuff anymore.

Keep it, enjoy it and give it away when your finished. Job done

Well I’ve went against the grain here and took the hard line approach. Obviously communication has broken down because of this.
I have explained the situation and the guy isn’t happy. He thinks my refusal of return because of a cut steerer is a cheap cop-out and that the goods are not sold as seen.

In the meantime I’ve spoken to the previous owner, who I trust, and he is also unaware that the CSU is creaking.
They were only sold by him as he was changing bikes and by me as I preferred Rockshox and was unimpressed with the RL’s lack of tweakability.

I’m half expecting a house visit. It could get messy.

That’s the last I need after a 12 hour shift from hell !

Hahaha aye. Should have tapped a curtain ring off his wife

I’ve already been through all that with him.

He suggested pouring loctite into the press-fit area which I told him to not to do.

I was going to propose the following:

Refund 80% of the price providing I’m satisfied that:

    1. They are my forks
    2. There are no further marks that when they left
    3. The fault can be replicated on one of my hardtails ( rule out full Suss noise)

If non of them conditions are met then it’s no dice…..

    Sounds Fair ?

    stu1972

    Yes the forks were £120

I’m confident that was a fair price for a very clean set of F-100RL’s

Yeah, he’s overcut either yours or another one that he’s trying to swap back to you – is there really a serial number on the CSU ?

Yeah it’s definately the same CSU. I can make out the same distinct little marks on the LH crown.

205mm is not massively short TBH.
I’d just give him a refund minus 10 to 20% for the shortened steerer.

I’d have to agree with that statement.

I spoke to him for quite a while prior to the actual sale and I’m confident that he is a biker. Either that or he’s invested a great deal of energy researching bike trails.

    stu1972

No I don’t think so. Have just clarified the overall steerer length is now down to 205mm

    stu1972

No, no one on here Renton.

I would tell him to get bent. If he hadn’t cut the sreerer my opinion would be different.

Well that’s it really. If they are genuinely creaking then I would refund him no questions asked if they came back as they were sold

    stu1972

Serial number tallies up, just had a picture sent through. Obviously the steerer length doesn’t.

Luckily Mike I photographed the serial number. The forks are well out of warranty. 2009-2010 !

I’d dread to think how much a new CSU would be.

It’s the situations like this that knocks you off selling stuff

Private sale outside eBay. He paid cash

They were sold privately. I’m fuming like.

Would you take up the legs on a £120 pair of jeans then take them back to the shop because you didn’t like the fit.

    Nightmare :-/

At least I have about 20 pics of the forks before they went.

I have always had iPhones and made the move to a Z2 when they first come out but went back to iPhone.

The Z2 went into full tilt overheat mode regularly and ran VERY hot. 4k video was just not an option on the Z2, it would overheat and shutdown within 30 seconds.

The thing that ultimately knocked me off was the non-replaceable battery. Android o/s is fine. much more flexible than iOS.

Just do your homework with the overheating issues and make sure they have been ironed out with the Z3

I accidentally purchased the wrong OS tiles for ViewRanger and the guy who designed it got back to me within the hour ( late hours as well ) and sorted it all out for me.

    Top customer service IMO

The word “natural” when referred to as a (non-trailcentre) location.

    For example:

“Tarquin do you fancy riding a bit of natural, old chap ?”

    And also “small bump compliance”

The correct working man’s translation, at least in Cumbrian would be:

“Fancy a rat aboot in the Lakes oor boy?”

    and

“Them forks are spot on ower coddies”

Every weekend 12 hour nights and days rotating, for what has now seemed since the beginning of time.

Get three days riding a week though.

Er, if my bosses are reading this I’m on a tea break!

Inverting stanchions effectively closer to trail obstacles. Genius.

Just waiting for all the “rad” coloured aftermarket silicone gaiter boots to appear.
