Buy a block of alu, some decent files and a vice and “smile and file” to your heart’s content. Give you something worth while to do of a quiet evening

The wife and I are currently saving like mad to get on the ladder, I’m 27 she’s 2 years my junior, combined income of 55k ish, been renting for 4 years and recently got married so that blew our deposit, so started from zero again this new year. Looking around the 200k price for 3 bed place, around north Norfolk, we are putting away a large amount of cash in savings and we estimate it will take 2 years for the deposit alone.

I had 780 on the fatty as that’s what it arrived with and I found the numbness in my hands decreased compared to the 740s I had on a previous bike, but was still there, switched to Jones loops and the numbness is also still there but wrists are better. Although I found when I didn’t do the velcro on my gloves up the numbness went, so I concluded that all the bar width and shapes and stem lengths and such like experiments I’ve done were in vain, and its tight gloves that’s caused the problems

I left the RAF (aircraft tech) just before Christmas, and was crapping it to be honest at the thought of the job search, I did plenty of prep and looking about, and when the time came I applied for 6 jobs, got 4 offers of interview, attended 2 and got offered both of these. All in engineering sector, but the one I took is a massive industry change for me. All 30k plus jobs, all local to me (Norfolk). I found it incredibly easy to be honest.

My anthem creaks was always down to seat rails. Always sounded different, but 9 times out of 10 it was the seat rails.

You’ve never seen an easy out work?? I’ve used an old snap on set to great success hundreds of times (removing rounded aircraft fasteners) the trick to using them is drill, drill and drill some more, if you think you’ve drilled enough drill some more, you need at least half the length of the easy out to be in the hole before you start, and tap with a hammer quite hard as you’re turning.

Teng 3/8 set on Amazon for £45 quid last week. Bought one to match my 1/2, tempted to get the quarter to match, but my halfords stuff does fine

For me, it was the intention to ween myself off, but 4 years later it turns out it’s an alternative. Works though. Do keep trying to ween myself off

In typical STW fashion of recommending what you have, I can’t fault what I’ve got at the minute, like I say I’ve tried building my own (too much faff) and all sorts of tanks, drippers. But for everyday, not smoking rig mines perfect (for me). 4400mah battery means from 0500 to around 2200 it’s still got plenty of power left. One battery, pretty bulky mind, good build quality and fairly cheap.

I’m using an eleaf I power 80w, mated to a original u well crown. I’ve tried many set ups, and this works incredibly well for me, I’m not a cloud chaser, and want something that works all day and doesn’t leak. This ticks the boxes for me. Juice from vapegoo, at £30 for 400ml it’s cheap and very good quality.

Amazon is good, and trusted sellers, I’m wary of China and blowing my face off.

Hairy scary, the bastard pipe is a little angular ecs pipe that fits on the alien in zone 19. Spent 2 weeks in there, changing a canopy torque tube, and that ifrp pipe is certainly a bugger. About 6 weeks later, I did such a good job on the first, I had another 2 week stay in there. My body is still bruised from rogue hyd pipes years later.

Fuel, you will use a shit load. Take a few jerry cans. I used to rinse a set of brake pads around cadwell. Tyres, I didn’t rinse them as much as I thought, but I was front wheel drive focus.

A lot of garages have a suction system, stick it in the dipstick hole and suck the oil out to change it, saves hassle with shagged sump plugs, have a ring round local garages see if anyone has one.

Just bought an enduro last week, actually quite impressed, tried loads to get a decent fit, poc, bell and giro weren’t quite right, troy Lee a1 was OK, to a punt on the on one and it’s good, I went for the smaller of the 2 with a 56cm head, and can say they come up big

Never seen a Jones in the flesh, love the look in photos, and looking at these I’ve got a question, don’t know much about them, but how do you remove the fork? Say for headset service and change, seems to me they can’t be removed, am I missing something (chances are high)

I love mine, had it 4 months and its my only MTB I have used since. Coped fine with Scottish trail centres, local woods, and long all day bridleway bashing, and the odd trip to the beach and winlatter in the snow.

Cress is an amazing tool for a good prank. Back when I lived in the block, we decided to punish a lad who went on leave for 2 weeks and left his room open, gentle watering of his carpet, add some cress seeds, 2 weeks later a carpet of cress.
