Not surprised – it was pretty moist on Saturday morning before the second biblical storm of the weekend and yesterdays rain. Pray for some sun and a bit of wind to dry it out a bit!

Provided the Surrey hills aren’t as techy as this you be fine:

Nice bike by the way! Always liked that metallic green colour!

About as good as TG gets tonight. Which is shite.

Why did you watch it then?

Its usually 7pm – blame thebikechain for it being later this week (which actually suited me this time) but 7 is better usually.

That was a much more pleasant ride than the weather forecast had suggested it would be – can’t believe how dry Phantoms was!

Pentlands wasn’t too bad either – bit damp as expected but still good slippery fun!

Yes, yes, depends – think 50ish min – 1 hour a lap last year. Wasn’t all that tricky in the daylight but damn hard at 4 am.

Me and 13thFM will be at the shoppe at 7 as usual if anyone else fancies a Pentlands slopfest. :?

Nope, 7 is fine – it’ll be light for ages anyhow!

Aye, up for a proper ride tomorrow to celebrate the longest day and all! Does 6.30 at the co-op suit you?

A top ride indeed – thanks! Scalectrix was worth the final climb and I had so much fun I even tacked on a slightly damp Mortonhall and Braid hill on the way home! :D

Great ride guys – feeling a bit broken this morning though! Was worth it for the dry trails!

No worries Alex, you weren’t exactly slow! Saying that it is usually a bit more mellow pace wise so feel free to come back anytime.

I vetoed going up puke hill and exchanged it for Castlelaw – sorry Kunster!

Great ride guys so thanks, all the rest of you missed out as it was a lovely warm evening with just a gentle breeze and the hills are still surprisingly dry. :-)

I’ll head out to the shop and see if anyone is about. If not I’ll assume myself or tag along with the girls… 8)

Mancunian Way – it won a concrete award so it must be good:

Indeed – well done Jeremy. I can’t do the first one but might be able to do the second. I’ve stuck it on the Edinburgh uni forum as well.

Spaceman – you would be much better off taking her round the blue at Glentress if you want her to ever bike again…

Innerleithen is a real slog for a first time ride (over an hours climbing before you get any real reward).

Count me in as well for some trail fixing. :D

Also might be worth contacting Roz at IMBA (roz.pollock@imba.org.uk) who occasionally posts on the Edinburgh Uni forum (see here) and was talking about organising some trail maintenance sessions.

One other thing to bear in mind about Black Hill is it took a hammering when they were doing the dam work at Threipmuir – that was the diversion route for everyone when the track north of the reservoir was shut over last winter.

Good ride guys – thanks for showing me some new stuff too! Hope the injuries weren’t too bad.

Fraser – fair point and usually I wouldn’t ride it at this time of year either but there were no sheep to be seen anywhere. We didn’t go round or over Harbour Hill to get to it, just down the top bit of track next to Bonaly reservoir, then left to cut across to the new fence and gate. I think all the sheep were on the Harbour Hill side of the new fence.

Not sure its the best idea at this time of year – its a LOT colder than you’d imagine – only last week an experienced and well equipped paddler drowned:

Pretty clear and reasonably impartial information from the Government’s Chief Scientific Officer Professor John Beddington here:

If you then couple that with the worst possible weather situation i.e. prevailing weather taking radioactive material in the direction of Greater Tokyo and you had maybe rainfall which would bring the radioactive material down do we have a problem? The answer is unequivocally no. Absolutely no issue. The problems are within 30 km of the reactor.

What next is obvious – motor bike gates at the start at end of all the singletrack sections like Cwmcarn . So hopefully the motorbike riders get the message and piss off!
