I like them, excellent for touring as pointed out but give you enough scope to go off road. Managed 700km in Himalayas with them on. Get the snakeskin ones for puncture protection.

From my experience of duathlons what bike you ride will make naff all difference! If you want to do well concentrate on the running side as that’s where most of the time is made/lost!

TJ is spot on, the avalanche warning was 3 OUT OF 5. I don’t know many mountaineers in Scotland who would be put off by warning at 3 (including myself). In fact its long running joke that its almost always at 3!
