I’ve a set of used Truvativ I took off a bike I bought if you’re after a cheap set.

A mate did this with his old frame. He managed to get WTB 47mm tyres on 25mm rims in it with a bit of clearance

Can go up to 160 travel on the Pikes with an airshaft, you can retro fit the Debonair shafts too

Christmas markets have already started and get mega busy at a weekend. Walls is a walk if the weather is ok, if you can find a online guide for the snickets and ginnels their worth a walk round too. Never far from a pub either!

I was going too as had all the parts sat spare. Was looking at a BFE or a Pace with 2.6 tyres to take the sting out a bit. Ended up doing the sensible thing and bought a DH bike instead!

I like the 7idp projects I got at the start of the year. Come quite a bit further up the thigh and stay in place well

DHF on the back is good too if you like it on the front. The WT ones are a good size on 30mm rims as well.

Saw a few lads on singlespeed hardtails when we did, definitely a full susser jobber for me though. You know you’ve done it afterwards, just get ready to eat snow!

I did exactly that, 140 to 160 travel increase. Just changed the airshaft, as you say though you can’t use the printed scale anymore.

I used some stuff called DIF wallpaper stripper after scoring the walls/paper. Came off easier than with just a steamer.

That sounds pretty pants,i was out a couple hours after coming round. Had to be picked up but they were happy once it wasn’t bleeding.

I had mine done a couple of years ago. Did notice a difference breathing after it had all settled down. Had 2 weeks off work, think that’s standard. I waiting till the swelling had gone down before riding again, no other reason than knew it’d hurt more if I knocked it. When they take the packing out is definitely the best bit, videos don’t do it justice! Had mine at York too, OP and home in the same day is fairly normal for that sort of stuff.

There’s a place in Plymouth that can replace steerer tubes, RSF Suspension. Don’t know how much though

Guy Fawkes or Mucky Duck (Old White Swan) then Yak and Yeti in York, Mumbai lounge and Akbars used to be alright too.

We stayed in a place on Parliament Square this year, had 4 bedrooms and plenty of space for bikes.

You can get in from Allerston behind the pub or go from Thornton le dale if you don’t mind a bit of a road ride. Pace/ Dalby Bike Barn are in Thornton and I think they have maps, Baldersons is a million times better than the cafe in Dalby too.

Transition Rapture has adjustable/swinging dropouts for single speed or geared. Coincidentally like the one I’m selling 😬

The DTH’s are the 26×2.3 wire bead versions in good condition, can send some pictures if you’d like. £25 for the pair?

I had some air pikes on mine, travel changed down to 100mm by swapping the airshaft and had them pumped right up. They always seemed alright, I just ran the compression and rebound all the way on. I’ve also got 2 Maxxis DTH tyres and an Ikon sitting in the garage too if your interested

It’s a different free hub body for the sram cassettes to the shimano ones. Have a look in Hopes website, they normally have all the numbers on the tech drawings.

As said, find a decent shop and have a play on a few. My brother found with his youngest letting him choose an electric he liked over being given one helped massively with motivation to practice.

Have a look at the Squier bullet Mustang too. I got one instead of a cheap Epi Les Paul for chucking in when I go away. Plays and sounds really well for the price and might be a bit easier for smaller hands being short scale.

We used to be in Huntington, need stadium might make it a bit busier but good for town. Never had any problems with flooding other than gardens being boggy in winter and the odd home insurance provider not covering the area.

Haxby/Wiggington and Strensall have easy access for town and Monks Cross/Clifton Moor for shopping. It’s not bad to get to the A64 and A19 either. It’s easy to get some decent road miles in heading north with a couple of decent climbs, Bulmer and Terrington bank, and there’s Yearsley, Sutton Bank and Dalby for mtb. Our kids are still quite young so we get quite a lot of mileage out of having York cards and year passes for the museums in the centre for days out. Is about 45 minutes to an hour to get to the coast too.

Depends what sort of things your looking for. We’re North side as o/h works at the hospital so is good for her and getting into town, is a pain getting round the ring road to go south or west when busy though. Tang Hall and Acomb still get a bad press but a lot of that is snobbery.

We got ours a secondhand Strider from Ebay. Plenty of adjustment for bar and seat height, ours is small as well, and they seem really sturdy so will be fine when the younger one is ready for it. We looked around at the cheaper ones but didn’t think they seemed as good or they were covered in Unicorns or Paw Patrol.

CC shock has lsc adjustment and climb switch too, Ali version is just the R. I went to Stif with buying the Ali version in my head but ended up getting the CC version too.

I’m just in the middle of doing the same. New headset, airshaft and rear Hope boost kit is all I’ve planned on needing so far. As far as I can find out using a boost kit you should be able to get away without needing to change anything on the cranks as the cassette isn’t moved and swapping airshafts is pretty straightforward if your happy to do it yourself. I looked at it as I could get the frame/build exactly how I wanted and use all the stuff I’ve upgraded or changed over the years vs buying a whole bike then changing loads of bits.

I find they help with my knees too, don’t have to think about not chopping at the pedals as much.

Ended up with more lsc and lsr than I thought I needed to help it feel more supported and less on the high speed side than I had on the Five. Ride mainly in Dalby so get a mix of soft ground/mud and roots and found I was getting either kicked about on landings or felt it was packing up on open bits.

I’ve a db coil il on my scout, same year but alloy. I only rode it once with the monarch before putting the coil in but have never swapped it back. Took quite a bit of playing with the low speeds to get it how I liked but very rarely use the climb switch. Have always thought it moves a lot when pedalling but never thought it a problem on anything but long fire roads. I find the coil makes everything a lot smoother up and down, but always helps with poor line choice or when I get too ambitious. I got mine from TF when I had a Five and they were spot on to deal with, as someone else said them or another good suspension place would probably be more helpful in what might work best.

Think it depends on the scheme/provider. When I last looked Evans let you do parts, and a mate at work used them no bother. I’ve always used my lbs and not had any problems.

Ergon GD1 are surprisingly comfy, liked them on my mtn bike too. Renthal push ons are even thinner but just as comfy. I like thinner grips though and thicker gloves if on the road.
