I’m on an enforced separation from my bike. It could last another couple of weeks.
If I could ride it would be Utah – spent a couple of hours watching Red Bull Rampage yesterday and I’m feeling suitably inspired 😀

Mind you, that could lead the way to an even longer separation!

If it’s as good as the last one it’ll be well worth the wait.
Something to keep me occupied during my recovery!

    wwaswas is absolutely correct.
They are allowed by Spesh to sell their bikes.
If they don’t provide the level of service Spesh wants them to, then they won’t be selling Spesh bikes.
Complain to Spesh UK – you’ve already been in touch with them – take it further.

    Thanks Barney
Just off to the fracture clinic to see how mine is doing.
Hopefully not as bad as that!

    Fingers crossed…..

on the bikeline site they say that in the case of hit and run compensation comes from the MIB.
The MIB pay out set costs which Bikeline warn will not cover their expenses and consequently you will not receive the full amount of compensation.
The issue really is that there is no “other side”

    thanks for the feedback.
MIB cough up for uninsured/untraced drivers. You have to show it was their fault lol!
I think I’ll have to pay my own costs though.

Think I’ll give CTC a ring.

    Thanks again.

    Thanks for your support.
Do you reckon I’ll be back on the bike in time for Wild Boar 24?

Get a copy of linux, either Ubuntu or Mandriva.
Both offer free downloads which can be burnt onto a CD and used to reboot the machine.
You’ll be able to access all your old files and none of your existing viruses will run.
Your machine will probably run twice as fast as well.
Only problem you might have is if you’re running specific Windows software – although a lot of software is available in Linux versions too.

They’re very good, internet banking available to both smile and Co-op bank customers. They are about to issue card readers to all their customers to help reduce internet fraud. They like to think of themselves as fair – they recently refunded a credit card transaction for a considerable sum where the selling company had not provided goods and had then gone bankrupt.
Was it HSBC where a customer had to employ bailifs to get some money back from them following a small claims court judgement?

The route is a combination of bits and pieces (I’ve not ridden it all together) and comes in at about 30 miles with 1500m of climbing.
Mind you, the length does depend on how many loops of the quarry you do! 🙂
I might be inclined to go down Gin Croft Lane if it’s not icy – that would cut out a climb and some pushing near the top of the Coal Road.
Wors, I’d go for the anti-clockwise loop, come over on the canal via Radcliffe and finish via Moorbottom Lane to Crowthorne.
That would be a good ride!

From your reply Wors, I guess you’re just looking for a route to Lee Quarry from Bury?
Well, this shows a loop you could take. There are a lot of variations between Irwell Vale and Rooley, this is just one example.

Depending where in Bolton you are the easiest might be canal into Bury via Radcliffe and then up onto Rooley, down the PB towards Cowpe and along the southern side of the Irwell valley to the quarry. Plenty of offroad with some short road sections.
If you’re in north Bolton you’re looking at a route incorporating Holcombe Hill.
Not easy to piece something together.

What about the descent down via Bassenthwaite Common or the trail that drops down via Broad End and Grey Crags? I suspect the latter will be super rocky and may require some portage but both trails are marked as Bridleway.

On my map these are marked as just footpaths, not RoWs. 😥

    Could be fun though…..

    Yeah, that info’s all right.
But check out the location in the Google Earth map.
That’s in the wrong place. The quarry is south and east a bit, on the other side of a couple of roads.

worth noting that the trail guide on here shows the location of the quarry in the wrong place 🙁

Which is the summit cairn in the photo?
Is that Ill Bell or Yoke?
Might have to give that a go sometime.
Just need a van at the other end! 🙂

You kept high over Ill Bell to Garburn and then down to Troutbeck?
    Is that all rideable?
    Many walkers out?

A pair of Shimano shoes have stunk ever since I got them.
Nothing seems to work on them – I think it’s an attribute of the adhesive they use.
I also heard a model of New Balance had that problem and the manufacturer had to change the glue.
I think you either tolerate it, or get some new shoes.
    The choice is yours.
