    carlos!

Good that they were out “enjoying” themselves….. but if they have that kinda gear then they should be able to keep up with a CX and mongoose!.The riders of said bikes have a MOJO and (did have an Alpine 160, waiting for his new 650)

I was`nt out cos i am “inbetwwen” bikes as well, + i am not a COCK, cos i have nailed this on my 465 HT, several times!. Still top 10 on Strava (i think without looking)

So shut up! OR come n have a go yourself! 😉

Hope, any day of the week. Ive had nothing else since the first C2s back in 1997. Never had an issue (appart from getting hot) which was resolved when they did the phenolic pistons. You can still get EVERY spare part for them as well. Shimanos? you`ll have to but the complete item (lever/caliper)

Now just got the Tech 3 E4`s, cant wait to try them……

Oh, BTW, Shimanos squeel like hell all the time….! I know this cos the guys with me have them!

Well done gardron… sounds like you`ve nailed it…., and i dont think any of us said rear hub bearings….. 😳

Quick mention re Troutwrestler… The Sram XX1 suffers from a creak/cracking noise and greasing the shaft etc cures it. There are some vids to show you, it may be a similar aet up?.

Perhaps you could look at the Halo Vapour?. Quite a bit lighter than the Chaos (perhaps not quite as tough though), not quite as wide as the EX, but in 650b comparison it is 95g lighter, tubless ready, and comes in some funky colours!.

Ive gone for a set of white ones..... to replace my 5 year old 719s which had been battered to death!

Hmmmm 650 compatible ?. how can a seatpost be compatible with a certain wheelsize?, unless you`re taking the p~#S…… Just got my 31.6/380 RH (for my 650) from Rutland £189!!!! 🙂

Minimum 30psi round here. I know of some that have ran less but they burp like hell, even in the front.

    stoney

With pressures that low they would last 5 mins with the slatey /rock that we have. They would nip and burp like hell……

    Liked that vid BTW 😛

Similar to thisisnotaspoon…… My king lasted allmost 5 years before it fell to bits, they are looking at it under warranty as i speak/type. I have no idea how many times it had been TOTALLY submerged in water which can be 3 times in one ride in the wintertime, but it never creaked and allways ran smooth, even with little grease in (it was at this point i was going to flush and refill when it fell to bits!)
Can`t argue with allmost 5 years though. 😛

The one that runs kinda parallel with Whiteless is Grassmoor, yes that`s rideable too. Done them all pretty much and on a Hardtail!

Technical…. You can say that again!

18 miles of the “unofficial” Borrowdale Bash and you are totally wiped.

Please dont take this pesonally but i would buy the guy a pint if he rides 50 miles round here! 😉

OK, IMO (and this is not actual fact)…..

I agree with amedias, in that you are expecting the size gains to make the difference…..

YOU ARE A WEIGHT WEENY ! 😳 ( NO need)

and mrblobby is wrong….. 29ers Do look wrong ( yes i know they are fast etc) but they are gay!…..

wwaswas is spot on…. just ride your bike and enjoy it. Upgrade if you want to…. 😉

I feel a bit like that at the mo…. Was going great before i went on hols for 2 weeks at the end of May. Good long distance ride/ sportive times, TT times were quite good etc, especially considering i nearly broke my neck in an MTB crash in Feb.
Since i came back from holiday, that was mid June…i just can`t be arsed! TBH…..

It will come back, “the MOJO” but in the mean time i did find another “MOJO”

I guess its not so bad after all…… 😉

30-50 miles….Cross counrty…. Have you seen how hilly it is up here?.

We`ve had people with us on a Tuesday night who say that they ride and average of 25-30 miles on a night ride……They were goosed after 12 miles, (that was up Skiddaw n back down) 😉

Don`t you just hate these annoying bike noises….. Fell for that one with the front mech cable hitting the crank arm. 😳
But the worst one i ever had was a vibrating noise, all the time. Looked at the wheels and any cable that was potentially touching anywhere, nothing. After a week of looking and head scratching, i was washing the bike and found a very small stone resting on top of the rear brake pads…. 🙄

Tipped bike upside down and the problem was solved….. 💡

Sounds like it might be your freehub. Several of our locals have hopes and i know that the pawl springs can be noisey.

    Hi,

Stick with the 650b fork, otherwise it will goose the geometry of the bike.

Its a shame were a few days behind as you could have had my 650b 34 Floats, they sold for £350 and i posted them free!. My point is that if you look around there are some fairly well priced forks available. What wheels are you after?, cos i have a set of 650b Flow EXs on Novatech hubs, ex demo Ibis mojo build. they are Sram XD drive shell though…..(ok if you are going 1×11)They also have a tubless set up with tyres…….

    Chris Kings al the way……Especailly from here;

    http://www.avt.bike/WebStore/merchant.mvc?Screen=SFNT&Store_Code=AVT&gclid=CLKume-K8JQCFROI1Qod-hyCqg

Allways got them from here, the last set i got for the Lynskey winter bike arrived here in 3 days ! thats quicker than our internal RM (sometimes) 😆

Cost wise, its like buying 1 and get 1 free!. I`ve just bought the XD rear hub and paid £263 sterling.
As for noise, the Buzz is actually quite nice and if you put (literally) a few drops of any fully sinthetic engine oil (mobil 1) in them, they go REALLY quiet.

    stoney

Ok, no probs. These are Sram XD anyway with Novatech hubs and allthough not as loud as Hope`s they have a “fairly” standard sound.

Deadkenny!,What size are you going for, I have these 650b`s going cheap.

If you`re interested there are a few in the FS fourum, roughly 4 days ago now. OK, the tyres might not be to your liking but they are set up tubless and would get you on your way.

    How it arrived….

    Drilled for stealth dropper….

FWIT the forks and wheels that came off are in the FS fourum Pinkbike and on the bay.

Allways run sintered in mine, Minis, M4, and now E4. If i couldnt get the genuine Hope ones then the Aztec or Clarks are a very good alternative.

    Jagwire Hy-Flow……

I got mine from “sproketstu” ebay shop, You but the hose as a 3m kit, (the caliper end is factory fitted to each end), you then cut each to the desired lenth and then use the parts from Hope fitting kit (sold seperatley). Not massivley expensive but they do look nice.

I bought the “Rose Thorn” FWIW 😉

Hopes for me!. Allways had them and i cant see anything on the market to change my mind. Bought an ex demo Ibis recently with XT 785s, took em straight off. Dissconected the rear hose to get through the swing arm and accidently damaged one of the banjoo` rings, Could i get a replacement???? NO!. found an Avid one that did the job.

At least with Hope you can get every single part, they look ace and IMO work really well, a price worth paying IMO of course! 🙂

    Just a quick update…..

Allmost healed fully….Still a little “clickiness” in the neck, mid back is allmost cured as well. Been on the tt bike (which would be the wost possible for the neck….but it has been ok…..

    I don`t think skis/snowboards would be any faster though….. 😉

Big Dave (Solidair) was the only one to make it tp the Tavern. Personally i really don`t like that way over Robinson, i would rather stick needles in my eyes then go up that way. That wet boggy bit + endless unridable steep grass……No wonder you were out all night….. 🙄

Sunday the 16th…..(see my thread with vid) and ended up like chiefgrooveguru, spinal board and neck brace for 6 hrs, padding etc, scans and stuff.

Very nearly broke my neck TBH but recovering well considering its not quite 2 weeks since.

Nice to hear from you Mike 🙂

I agree! Fancy trying something like that without adult supervision 😉

Yes the lip still hasnt healed properly, the inside turned into an ulsa the size of Texas and i was offered 2 straws with the first pint (the following tues night) I`m sure you can imagine the crack in the pub……We miss you! 😥

Singlecrack…….A fat bike might just have been the answer! 😆

I must carify that in the vid, that isnt me lying 100metres away from my bike. Thats Paul who was having his own episode of “slide away from the bike on his arse” I`m too far out of shot!

Dave (the camera man) made a Strava segment of it……His is 22:13…. mines 18secs.

Cos of the swelling round that area. They said that swelling can mask a fracture. From my local A&E to the main hospital (30miles) on a spinal board and neck brace/padding and remained like that for 6 hrs. The results had to be sent somewhere else for a second opinion (another hour) before they were happy. Was kept in anyway as they had`nt ruled out a cranial bleed 😯

My helmet is split in 5 places!!!
