Yes, the lube is great for the bearings but run a few drops of full synth oil on the ringdrive.

The ones iv`v just stripped off the HT and been fully submerged in water several times last yaer, 3 times in one ride, took the driveshell off, flushed the bearings out and back togther…

Still perfect after 5 years!!!!(appart from the colour faded slightly)

Never had a rear be “draggy” from new, curently running 3 sets but have had 2 others on previous bikes. What they don`t like is the cold, the ring drive fails to engage and you have a neutral….

Mobil 1 fully synthetic (or similar, Triflow in the book)is what cures it, just a few drops on the ringdrive and Hey Presto…. 😛

    I bought a small 500 bottle from the big “H” 😛

    Tomd,

Would you be interested in a set of CK`s? in Pink? 32h…

It was cheaper to buy a new hub from Aspire than convert the old one to XD with the axel and driveshell. So i ended up buying a pair new.

    😯 @ crazy-legs!.

Similar to me…. I was KO`d, roughy 2 mins?, eventually got up and wandereed round…(i dont remeber this). It took the other 2 20 mins to reach me at which point we set off walking, but when i had gathered my thoughts and remebered, i jumped on the bike and rode down, got a lift back to town, got changed, had a cuppa! and then off to A&E (with a “potential” broken neck), from where i was strapped to a spinal board for 6 hrs and shipped off to the county hospital….

Feb 16th, nearly broke my neck after face planting from 40+ mph….. 😯

    Posted a u tube vid at the time….. 😳

Only the very top rib was broken in the end,(the one under the colar bone) but the neck still “clicks” a little….. 🙄

The Pace 305 i had a few years back was allmost unmarked when i sold it, 2 years after i bought it. No cable rub and it certainly had a few rocks bounce off the downtube, again not a mark….

Same light, new “test” battery. Only thing with them is that when the battery is strapped to ur frame, or rear of helmet (2 cell) then you can`t press the test button….or even see it on the back of ur helmet!.

Just got mine yesterday, with the “ordinary” 2 cell battrey…. 😛

I remember one day when the Fred was on… and there were 4 of us on our MTB`s (not doing the Whitton) and all 4 of us were taken clean off our bikes by the wind….

Allmost happened on Sunday as well….only a dab saved me!!!! 😉

Those wheels i sent you the pics of were off an Ibis!!!! 8)

Only cos the geometry is the same…. 😉

I have allways wanted an Ibis, they don`t break like the Intense…I know this from fact cos there are 2 other HDs in our group, one has been ridden like a bull in a china shop, has a punctured top tube (crash damage) and is still going strong.
The other is a replacement for an Intense Tracer cos he had massive problems with the frame.(frame being relaced twice)

The one i demo`d had the same geometry as what i wanted……

    No way is a Tracer 26ib…… 😉

No way is it 26lb….. 🙄

Demo`d the 275 last Autumn, it was the first “proper” full sus i had ever been on. It was really good even though not set up for me, one fact though, standard 3×9 set up there is no way it was less than 30lb….

So, back in May i bought this ex demo….

    Now it looks like this…

    2lbs with pedals! 😛

Just a firm bat with your hand should do it, they are a “tolerence” fit!.

I`ve just got the “ordinary” 2 cell battery, that way the missus can use it on the strap for running. I will get a nice flat 5.2ah battrey from Smudge and then run it in the rear pocket so you can take the pack off without being hindered with a cable.
I looked at the R1, but allthough there was just enough light (for a helmet) it was in the wrong place….ie, the R4 put way more light down directly in front and a slight nod of head downwards then you could see where you put ur feet (for the hikeabikes)

Has to be said though, even with the R4 on full, it does nothing over the Troutie Dominator on the bars, 😉

I have`nt had it happen yet, but it is an easy fix. the clutch is the problem and just requires a little grease, there are vids to show you how to do it….. 8)

The “raised” edge ones are the “parabolic” ones…. they keep you in the centre automaticlly…… 🙄

The old ones i used to have were “ordinary” rollers where you had to actually balance on them, as well as pedal like stink…… No “resistance” gizmos what so ever….., if you were doing 25mph on them and stopped pedalling, then they came to a standstill in less than 10 seconds. This is actual fact!!!! ❗

They were 20 years old, chuffin hard work and will be sadly missed!.

OP, how heavy are the wheels on their own?….

My 650b wheels came in at just over 1800g. Chris king hubs, Halo Vapour rims,”normal” ss spokes

can weigh them with tyres on as well….

I find it hard to see the Anthem being 23 lbs… My Ti HT came in at 26lb….. 2×9 set up, carbon bars, etc…..but it was built to be strong, not light 😉

stophe, is that the drive shell on it`s own?.

I have CK hubs and worked out that to alter my existing hub with a new 142×12 and the drivshell, it was only another £50 to buy a complete new XD hub.

To convert with both axel /driveshell it would be roughly £150 ( $250 again from Aspire Velotech!!!) 😛

I was building from scratch ( well sort of….was an ex demo full build which i then “altered”) and went for the Sram.

XO1 cassette, was on the bike
XO1 rear mech, was on the bike
    + chain….

Swapped out the crank for XX1 (this is the only one with 76 bolt spacing for the 28 ring), also swapped out the shifter for twist grip, (can`t use triggers all day)

Got the crank from Aspire velotech 9in the states, and the front ring from CRC.

I tried to get it all from Aspire, but they had ran out of stock, it would have been roughly $1k, (approx £600)& you take a chance on import tax, even then it`s till miles cheaper….. 8)

I had a very low gear on the old HT, 20/34….. 😛 which worked out (according to Sheldon Browns scale) was a 15.5″ gear, which was ace for getting me up the steep stuff we have round here

So, when i first thought of going full suss with 1×11 i purposely stopped using the 34 and used the 30 sprocket giving a 17.6″ gear.

Now, i like to pedal up stuff if i can and opted for the 28 front ring as this gives me a little less than i had before @ 17.3 taking into account that i now have 650b wheels as well.

Basiclly, if you have reasonable hills and can climb then the 30t front will do, that way you will still have a nive top gear on the 10 sproket. If you have steep hills (like us) then the 28t.

BTW, even with the 28t front, i can still pedal just fine on road with the 10 sproket….

Hope my little contribution helps! 😛
