No problem at all. It is simply a drainage hole , cause that`s the lowest point. I usually drill 2 3mm holes just about where the threads end. The only thing is they need to be plumb(take a vertical line through the frame when the bike is stood normally)

I have done it with all my bikes. Ti included.

Yep, i`m serious…. done it at least 3 times now. You just have to be really careful when getting close to the frame threads and there is a different sound when they meet. That does NOT mean the threads are damaged cause you have NOT actually cut into them. What was a problem with the Royce one was that one side of the bearing ring stayed in position and being hardened, it made it more difficult to cut. Then cause there is only the threaded portion of the cup left, it breakes away with a tap.

Seriously, if you are carful the bb threads will not be damaged.

Sounds like cable tension. Put the shifter in granny cog and bottom ( largest) sproket at the rear. Turn the cable adjuster on the shifter clockwise all the way in. Make sure the Lo adjuster bolt has the cage of the mech a couple of mm away from the chain (no more than say 2-3mm). Lossen the cable bolt and pull the cable as tight as you can with pliers and nip the bolt up again.

That should sort it. You can then pull a bit more with the shifter adjuster if required.

This happened to my allmost new Royce bb after i fitted it to my New Pace frame, without having the threads cleaned first.

You might be able to do the same…That is hammer the axel out, it is a bonus if the bearing goes with it and cut the cup out. You can tell when the hacksaw blade is just touching the top of the threads in the frame. Make 2 cuts (as if to take 1/4 out) then you should be able to hammer ( with a large flat screwdriver)the 1/4 piece inwards and loosen it. The rest should come away easy.

It will take maybe an hour but it is very satisfing when done. This one was by my mistake but i have done it before with really old ones as well.

YIP, and it is kept clean cause there is a tractor goes up and down daily to clean up seaweed etc. Sand is nice and soft too.
