If your frame has seat tube bottle bosses then turn it upside down and squirt some penetrating oil down it, leave it a day or so. Remove the seat and if you have a vive or can get the use of one then turn the bike upside down in the vice, clamping the seat post tight and then use the frame as a lever. This has only failed me once by which i then had to cut it out!

Autosol polish and steel wool would also do the trick.

High Rollers work for me! The Advantage is similar, lighter but has a thinner sidewall.

I have never left square taper. I see all those around me with crappy exernal bb sets not lasting 6 months. I had a hope square taper in my old ti frame and after 8 years was only replaced (with a Royce) cause one of the cups had seized and had to be cut out. Hope could not supply a replacement as they stopped them years ago.

The Royce bb Now in both bikes will spin 20 full revs with a firm tap (and the chain off of course)

I dabbed on a well slippy rock and dropped the bike on it. The rear seat stay scrapped on the rock and there was no mark on the finish. Also stones that bounce up and hit the downtube do not effect it either.

I would not be without them and you should nt make comment until you ve tried them.

Nice job mate.We were together for a good bit of the second lap but i honestly can not say i have had cramp that bad, that many times, in both legs. as you herd!!!

I recon that last far fire road was a complete waist of time and talking to Rich from Cyclewise afterwards i think he kinda agreed. He must have herd similar things from a good few others. He did say they would cut out some of the climbs for next time.

Anyway, it was a top event made so by the sun and as Roly said it was 36 miles!

There is a regular 12-15 for the Keswick Tues nights, thats in the winter! 1 night last summer there was 27. There is a regular 3-4 from Penrith,(Hi guys), 1 from Egremont (1 hour each way) and sometimes one from Dumfries(1hour+each way)

Splash out and get a decent one….. I run a Royce Ti in both bikes and they are brill. You can give the cranks a firm tap (without a chain on) and they will spin 6-7 full revs.

I have used a mixture of sram and shimano before and it was fine.

I use them all the time and they do give a natural hand position for climbing, in that your wrist stays straight.
