Posted today. recorded delivery so at least I can keep track.

Don't use DHL whatever you do. It tried it a couple of years ago and the driver couldn't find Pat's house. Luckily I run the shipping department at our place and could apply a certain amount of "pressure" to get the lazy s%d to try again and look properly!

Cheques will be fun in a couple of years if the banks get their way and phase them out. We'll probably have to use postal orders and add stamps to them to increase the value….what the hell was that all about???!

This chap seems to have done a fair bit of work to understand the problem.

How long before riders are going "quite fast" up the hills of Eastnor under cover of a large Rohloff wheel?

Wouldn't boter as I want both my bikes to have the advantage of Rapid Rise. Have it on my Maxlight at the mo and love the flawless downshifts under power. Will change on by other bike as soon as the old one gives up the ghost (or gets t**tted by a rock :D)

Rapid rise rules by the way. I run both types on two bikes but only the rapid rise gves me absolutely flawless downshifts up steep hills under power.

Was given some latex tubes by mistake once. They lasted a couple ofrides but pinch flatted. when they do this they explode completely so can;t be fixed. Don't bother. Get a Stans kit and go tubeless with standard tyres. Or even cheaper do the same thing with 20" shwalbe innertubes. I saw a link to a great website explaining the whole thing. Can't find it but it looks like a great DIY method!

Tubeless will save you rotating weight and improve the grip of the tyres.

Got the Hope Pro 3 XC3 from roger at Wheelpro and just done Mayhem solo on them. Brilliant light wheels, spin up very quickly (no doubt helped by the Stans rim). They set up tubeless with both Small Block 8’s and Nevegals with a track pump with absolutely no problem. Can’t praise Roger’s service enough either.

there’s , at the most only 22 competitors in the BGP though

Yes, but they go faster than us. I don’t know how people keep up with it. Particularly with all that overtaking. As for tennis, how does anybody actually focus on fast moving balls?

Imagine the British Grand Prix results not appearing until several days after the event. The media would go wild with speculation over who officially crossed the finish line in 16th place. They could rely on the uninformed rantings of motor racing website forums but imagine the vested interests of those posting their version of the results.

I reckon the boys and girls with the spreadsheets just fancy a rest after a brilliant weekend’s racing….and who would blame them.

Having said that…it would be nice to know where I came!

A nice case of Chateau Lafite 1945. Otherwise I find the whole event can be sooo tedious.

This is the Ascot site isn’t it?

2002 Sandwell – Dry (apart from the toilet leak on the last bend!)
    2003 ” – Dry
2004 Eastnor – Wet Saturday (Hell at night)
2005 ” – Wet but not too bad (or I was starting to get the hang of it!
    2006 ” – Buff!
2007 ” – Wet (newbie in the team nearly cried)
2008 ” – The Somme (newbie in the team nearly died!)
    2009 ” – ?

It looks like we are moving towards a more dry than wet position since 2002.

Badger – the moral is…stick with it. Otherwise you are trying to time the markets. It doesn’t work in investment (apparently) and it is clearly not a good strategy with the British Summer.

Disclaimer: Past weather is not a guanrantee of future levels of precipitation. Your morale may go down as well as up.

Thanks mrsflash. As long as a lot of it is mental then I should be ok. Am getting out as much as possible both on and off road. I just suspected that using the muscles for unfamiliar tasks (such as pushing up a hill) may require a bit of training to avoid bizarre new aches and pains on the day.

Charge Spoon. Got one for Christmas after various recommendations. Got it fitted to my hardtail and it’s as comfy as anything else I’ve had straight out of the box.
