The numbers on the seat tube should tell you the year eg 998 =1998 the first year it was released i think , as for worth depends on condition it wasnt that high up in the sunn range so probably not much.

True – however after insulating our loft / attic we had major condensation problems that only got resolved by venting the roof.

Your roof space should be ventilated, hance having eaves to allow air to circlate sounds like you insulation was not fitted properly and prevented the air from flowing properly, ie blocking the space betwwen your joists and eaves. I have also seen a similar problem with debris on the membrane causing moisture to travel onto the outer brickwork.

    Op

the condensation is a result of the lack of insulation on the bay window, hence low dew point. Additional insulation will help on the brickwork and roof/ ceiling. Do you have a radiator below the window, there is a reason why many rediators are found below windows despite much of the heat being lost? and does the DG have ventilation. What is the quality of the DG ?

Hi oxnop yes the gti seams like the best comprimise would be looking at a mk5 as well. The st gives you a lot of car for your money but looks a bit boy racer and drinks heavily. What sort of real world mpg are you getting?

Offroading bit to far for me unless its a bargin….

    edit

no policy as such but comon sense should be applied, tbh I could probably use my current 02 astra if I took the dents out , made sure it started everytime and somehow managed to remove 3 years of dog hair, mud , grease and climbing chalk from it. I am gonna keep it as the dirty job van as it makes a builders van look clean.

Oh and i am 27 so style still applies and i will be paying the insurance servicing etc

I have bought some howies stuff over the years, first piece was a H logo t shirt from bike 99 i think which i still have, got an outback jacket and a base layer. jacket is good but stitching issues. I also had some of the merino boxers that fell apart after litle use , need to get the Gf to send them back actually. For the last three years they have not offered any technical or innotive clothes, just jeans , t shirts and jumpers etc. There seams very little creativity in this department and I believe this has caused the move towards the fashion market. Everybody says that they would ever buy howies at full price, which I think best demonstrates that it is over priced. In summary I was once a loyal howies customer , I no longer buy their stuff.

Oh and dot know if anyone has mention HVs, e1 etc are severity grades ie exposure and 5a,5b etc are technical grades ie how difficult the hardest move is.

IMO grades should be used as a rough guide only. fascination of climbing up the grades ruins climbing.

This reminds me of a cocky litlle **** who i met out at the plantation who had only climbed at indoor walls and informed me that he was going to do all the B8's at plantation as thats what he had climbed indoors and wasnt interested in the B4-6's I was doing as they were so easy. Guess what happended…

    PS Stonemonkey your overcomplicating things…..
    Surely it's just Can & Can't?

probably! But it is a sliding scale so no matter how well you climb it will always work.

As my namesake mr Johnny Dawes would say,

" its all about the movement, we all have it within us to climb brilliantly but we need to declumsify ourselves open your mind and the body will follow."

or words to that affect as he is completely mad!

Forget about all these grading systems and use my system

    1) ones you can do
    2) ones your close to doing
    3) ones you cant do
    4) ones you'll never be able to do

Ha ha Idiot recruiter must read STW as I recieved a rather apologetic email this morning before I had a chance to bollock him. And Balfour Beatty asked me for an interview this morning, maybe my days of unemployment are finally coming to an end.

Thanks for everybodies advice and help.

Edukator – you would be interested in my mates uni dissertation, "defending the indefensible" examing how Ze(sic) Germerm soldiers justified their actions. It was all a bit much for me after 6 months and countless amounts of beer.

Have contacted the original recruiter to inform them of the situation and provided correct cv to idiot recruiters. Cant be arsed to shout untill after any offers of interviews in case they f it up even more. It was a very good job as well and having been unemployed since uni 3 months ago i could almost cry.

    EDIT

The cv idiot recruiters had was a pile of crap that one of there staff cobbeled together from some info I gave them and included incorrect dates and missed out important jobs for this post. Basically if the employer reads both side by side there not gonna bother.

There goes my £25k , company car, great job and opportunity for my APC
