One of these (in black) for a frame which strangely has lower rack mounts but not the upper ones.

I suggested way to get photos printed cheaper than buying an inkjet and doing it at home which is what you actually asked for.

It isn’t. I want to buy a printer. But thanksanyway.

Personally, I think it’s just ill-managed, as they would be better off giving exposure to existing heroes/heroines, rather than gender bending/altering race of others. Or even, and this is out there thinking, create new characters. Anyway, **** ’em. They ain’t DC, so I don’t really care

What’s wrobg with ‘rebranding’ fictional characters? why do they need to fit into your (or anyne’s) preconcieved ideas of what they should be? Are you writing/illustrating the comics? What’s it got to do with you? You can choose ot to buy/read them.

In other news, Captain America is now black.

And why would that be an issue at all?

It’s been quite funny watching comic fanboys explode with rage over this. Especially since, you know, it’s comics- so you can do just about anything, there’s tons of different incarnations of many characters. If Iron Man can be a zombie, Thor can be a woman ffs.

    +1

It’s a comic book who gives a **** except nerds.

    😆

I rember a lot of excitment when Tank Girl first came out, and ‘how great it was to have a strong femal character’. I also noticed that TG was still a character that fitted well into teenage boys’ fantasies, rather than say being fat, who didn’t fit into the accepted norms of ‘attractiveness’, and one which seemed to posess a number of typically masculine attributes rather than simply being a ‘woman’.

    Although…

so its gone from needing to print photos to general printing as well. maybe if you had mentioned this in your original post you would have got a better reponse and you wouldn’t have had to act like a dick

Oh sorry; I though you had something useful to say. My mistake. 🙄

get yourself a canon PIXMA MG6450 or an PIXMA MG5550

You could quite easily have said that without being a dick. I’ll probably be getting a Pixma 7150.

No need for anyone else to respond now, unless you want to argue about CMYK v sRGB or whatever.

as for printing much cheaper to get them done at the local asda, boots or quicky mart for small prints. if you are doing a boat load then upload to DSCL.

Ok; so Ihaveto travel to an Asda or Boots, then wait for them to be done. Very conveneint. 🙄

Plus we need ne for printing out train/concert tickets, boarding passes etc. Hence the need for one actualy in our home.

How about this one? Wireless is bloody handy to be honest.

It was useless waffle, because it has no relevance on this thread, which is about a decent yet inexpensive photo printer. I need something to print out pics for friends etc, rather than produce large format archival/display prints. For that, I’d just go to a professional printing place which caters for such needs.

So, Canon/Epsn? What will play nice with an iMac? I rember having nightmares a few years ago trying to get 3 different Canon DSLRs to play with iPhoto, when anything else ‘just worked’.

THat useless waffle aside, any other recommendations for a reasonable printer please?

True, but then, the ‘processing’ process is best left to trained, skilled professional, no? I man, if an amateur does it, who knows what catastrophe could occur?

CaptureNX is not that great really. Lightroom or Aperture are better. Butitsoundslike the op should leavesuch things to a ‘professional’. It will cost a lot of money mind, as they are highly skilled, trained and talented people. 😉

No chance. That’s damaged by something sharp/jagged/pinty stabbing into it. Could have been damaged in the shop you bought it from, but surely you’d have seen the holes when putting it on? Warranty is for defective manufaturing, not other damage. The only way you might have a case is if other tyres on other bikes are like that, indicating a issue with the factory tyre fitting machine, if they use one. And if a bike shop let a new bike with a tyre in that condition go out of theirshop, they desrve to go bust. But I’m going for damage caused on ride, personaly.

Niokon’s own specs suggest that 500kb is the smallest filesize:

    http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/dslr/d5100/spec.htm

    JPEG Basic Samll: 0.5Mb

So either you’ve done something wrong,or the camera is fritzed.

Just get the shop to order a smaller size in. Even if you have to put a deposit down, you’re under no obligation to buy it. And if they try insisting on such silliness, take your business elsewhere. I can understand tht smaler companies might not want to be lumbered with a bik they might not sell, but quite frankly, that’s theire problem; if you don’t want to at least attempt to cater for customers’ needs, then don’t be in that business.

On account of, they weren’t very good when they were new and that was in about 1960.

What a load of nonsense. I’ve had them on my bike sinse 1959 and they’ve been absolieute lfine, and need very little maintenance, unlike many other brands/models I’ve tried. The Hopes have been the most consistent and reliable in all that time. And these re the original Minis, not even the Monos.

the nearest decent hill I can think of is around Euston Road area

Where? That area is flat! Maybe you mean Pentonvile rise up pat Kings Cross toward the Angel, but that’s not that much of a climb. Loads of traffic up there too. Not a great place to ride.

The Overground network could get you up to Gospel Oak, where you could start your loop round Hampstead/Highgate etc, and get you back to Rotherhithe/Surrey Quays for Southwark, as it’s not that far from those stations.

There are some ok climbs around Penge/Crystal Palace/Sydenham/Dulwich that you could get a loop in, but the ‘best’ climbs in London are probably around Highgate/Hampstead/Muswell Hill/Alexandra Palace. Short, but steep and quite tough, and excelent for reps. Swains Lane in particular is a good climb; it’s used for a hillclimb race every summer. Not that easy to navigate if you don’t know the area though.

I know a bit about printing, and have had HP and a big Epson A3 printer (which costs a fortune to run and never flipping works). That was a while ago, so just want something that can bash out a few nice small prints for peoplenow and then.

Israeli policy not being media friendly? Jews having plenty of enemies around the world anyway? Peoples lack of awareness as to what is actually going on and only basing their opinions on headlines?

Somabsolutel nothing to do with the fact, the inalienable fact, that Isreali armed forces are murdering innocent people, and that many Knesset members are far-right extremist zionists then? It’s all down to ba PA and Israel being ‘misunderstood’? Are you joking?

Peoples lack of awareness as to what is actually going on

Innocent people (on both sides) are being killed. We see the factual evidence on our tvs, in our newpapers, online. How are we ‘lacking awareness’ of that??

Interesting that Canada pops up again when you delve into far-right wing zionism:

And the Jewish Defence League seem just as lovely a bunch as our own English Defence League, although somewhat more extreme and active:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_Defense_League

Despite being named by the FBI as a ‘terrorist organisation’, and baned in many countries including Israel, they are not outlawed in Canada and France.

    Meanwhie:

    http://www.haaretz.com/jewish-world/jewish-world-news/1.604813

On July 8, the day that Israel launched Operation Protective Edge against Hamas in Gaza, a man described as having a Middle Eastern appearance assaulted a Jewish 17-year-old girl on a Paris street near the Gare du Nord train station by spraying pepper-spray on her face, BNVCA also reported.

The girl, identified by her initials, J.L., wrote in her complaint to police that the man, who was in his 20s, shouted: “Dirty Jewess, inshallah you will die.”

**** disgusting. Utter scum. If I witnessed that cowardly attack, I’d do whatever I could to batter thhe ****. Xenophobia simply must never be tolerated.

Is it worth it, and will it all get brushed under the carpet as they always seem to protect each other?

    Gardens a hassle???

Weeds mowing planting pruningngreenfly foxes cat shit slugs snails hayfever fences falling down party wall agreements overhanging foilage waterlogging drought etc etc etc. Yes, they’re hassle. Did Imention we’re not gardners? 😀

Our roof terrace is big enough for a few planters and pots, BBq, to put the washing out, have a sun lounger or two, and is a real sun trap. Plus being up higher, we get to enjoy the visual impact of all our neighbours’ gardens. And I have my workshop (fully equipped for woodworking, bikes etc) to potter about in and chill out (it’s technically a ‘communal’ section, but no-one else ever uses it). Our storage area has enough space for several bikes (6 at the moment but space for at least 2 or 3 more), and is more secure than a shed or garage. So we enjoy pretty much most of the benefits of a house, with very few if any ‘downsides’. The OP cold miss out on a great home if they were to totally discount ‘flats’ and concentrate only on ‘houses’. Once again; there are flats, and there are flats.

Fwiw where i am , a 3 bed house cost the same as a 2 bed 3rd floor flat on the edge of town so it was only sensible for me , in london at the prices the op is quoting….not so.

There is limited stock in ths particular area of 3 bedders, as most places are either massive 5-6+ bedders, or 1-2 bed flats converteed. For a whole ‘house’, you’d need upwards of £800,000, more likely over £1million. 😯

Yet just last week you were not happy with your neighbour stoffle ?

That’s the other one. anyway she’s just moody causes she’s got cabin fever and her brat just screams al the time and doesn’t sleep. She’s ok anyway really.

Sounds like Pterpoddy lived in a shoe box. We don’t. We have pretty much as much space as a standard 2up 2 doen terrace, without the hassle of a garden. Plus we enjoy as much basement space as would a terrce. And we have a good bit more room than any cramped shitty new build. Being freehold means there’s a lot less hassle if we want to do anything. Being off ground level means burlgalry is much less likely, and insurance is a lot lower as a reslt. As I said; there’s flats and theres flats. Location is key though; we’re very lucky to live in a nice area, with decent transport links and excelent local amenities. It suits our lifestlye perfectly, and we don’t have to suffer long commutes, having to rush to get the last tran, having to drive everywhere etc. I appreciate urban living’s not for everyone, but There is an option to havin to have a ‘house’.

Ooh, it’s got an optical sensor and a data bus! 😮

I think I will actually trawl some charity shops,as there are some very affluent people round here, and the shops are full of good stuff. Tried Austin Reed, but two oldfogies looked at melike I was dirt, and made a point of not coming to see if I needed anything, so sod em. Got another week and a bit so no big drama. I’ll find something. Back up option is a v-neck sweater for if it’s a bit chilly.

Wear a suit to work saves all this hassle depending in their job.

Fortunately I’ve never had to wear a suit to work. Andmy last interview, Iwas wearing a scruffy t-shirt with shorts and sandals, and drinking a beer. 😆 The job was in the bag. 8)

The year we spent living in a flat was awful. I’d rather live in a ditch to be honest. No way on earth would I buy one. No outside space, too many neighbours making too much noise, everything has to come upstairs, and because of the small dimensions I had to walk sideways everywhere. Just horrid.

There’s flats, and flats. Our place is technically a flat, as it’s converted from a massive Victorian town house, but for a couple with no kids it’s more than enough space. We have a large basement with seperate storage areas, and a communal section where I have a small workshop. 😉 8) We don’t have a garden, although we get on so well with our neighbour blow we could use hers if we really wanted to, but we’re not gardeners, and we have a lovely little roof terrace. In short, it’s perfect for our needs. Quiet, decent area, good shops very close, train 15 mins from central London. All in all, very highly desirable. We could sell here and buy something massive in the outer burbs, but we love lifing here. Sometimes, less is more.

Well, I managed to endure a few hours in the west end, although why anyone would enjoy that experience is beyond me. A truly degrading experience for all involved. And the place is packed with the spoilt brats of rich people, it seems. However; I found a reasonable pair of plain grey chinos in Uniqlo, and a nice fitting shirt in Ted Baker. I couldn’t bring myself to try any jackets on; they either looked too smart, or made me think of Alan Partridge. I really can’t beleive anyone genuinely thinks ‘smart casual’ is a good look. it’s not, you look like a ****. Partridge is a piss-take, not an homage. Shoes: pretty much all nastines everywhere I looked, from cheap to expensive hand made. The Natural Shoe Store had some comfy looking shoes, but I’ll have to go back with some socks (was wearing sandals).

Here you go – John Lewis

Thats a sppof, right? No way can that be for real. That bloke is the last person I’d take style is from. Look at him for christ sake! 😯

TK-Maxx did have a wild dark green silk jacket that I actually liked, but fortunately it was too expensive for a ‘fun’ item. So, jacket and shoes now. Get yer thinking caps on folks!

Need to get there for 10am, so will be traveling at the worst time.

Ouch. Taxi could well end up being the very worst option if the roads are snarled up for any reason (which they often are). You just need to take a deep breath and brave the tube. Padd to KX is 13/14 mins according to TfL’s site. Bus 35 mins. Taxi isn’t likely to be much quicker that time of day.

I like that. Unenclosed derailleur systems are fragile, open to the elements, get filthy and wear out quickly. A fully enclosed transmission makes perfect sense, especially for mountain bikes.

    It also looks rubbish
