Thats an original BT box with some DIY connections. Looks to me like you have the original BT cable connected through (striped) and an additional alarm cable (Red,Blue,Yellow).

Depending on where you want to move your master socket to and how far, I’d either disconnect the old cables and run in a new one with a new master box or if its all working fine leave it alone.

If you have the engineers code you can go into the communications menu and disable the Digi.
If you havent got the engineers code there is a way to back door the panel to get into engineering and do what you need to do.
If you pm me ill send you the details on how to do it.

We regularly fit cctv recorders in lofts. Cant say we’ve ever had a problem due to excess heat.

If you want as little equipment in the loft its either run the cables to somewhere else or you could fit a 4 port poe switch and use a decent powerline adapter to get the data to where you want.

Why don’t you change the password of the family wifi, log the guest in on that one to see if it works.
If it does you know its guest wifi related, if not its got to be the device.
When done change the password back to what it was originaly.

Got a Peloton initially for the wife but i’ve used it just as much following Power zone training plans.
If you get the Plus bike it will change the resistance automatically on most classes.

The Beeping and rebooting will probably caused by a knackered hard drive.
Depending on weather you have a NVR or DVR will make a difference in what needs fixing and price.

Personally i’d install a Pyronix Enforcer system. I’ve been installing them for the last 4 years with very few problems. It comes ready to go with wifi built in, Batteries should last you 3 years easily, its got a really good range on the sensors so outbuildings shouldn’t be a problem.
The only ongoing cost would be £35 after the first year for the app control and noifications.

I fit Hikvision cameras ans Pyronix alarm systems. They might not be the cheapest but they are solid and reliable, and can fit most budgets.

Accenta panels are easy to replace the battery in.

Get yourself a Yuasa 3.2ah sealed lead acid battery ordered in first.

Then all you have to do is open the panel in the airing cupboard, disconnect old battery, fit new battery, screw lid back up then go put your code in and then press Reset.

    Job done

I can’t advise on somebody in Whltshire.

But you should be able to change alarm companys easy enough, it can get a bit more tricky if you have a monitored alarm.

9 times out of 10 the panel can be crashed and the engineer code changed. What make and model panel is it?

is it a large company that looks ater it at the moment?

Alarm Engineer Here – You should be able to just replace the battery and repower the system and reset it, aslong as it not been set to an engineer reset and you have the correct user code. Worst case senario is you have to power it back down again and the bell outside will ring for 15-20 mins depeding on the age of it.

Check for spiders living in or behind it. They love to come out at that time of night.

Look at the Eufy Doorbell, best of the bunch on the market at the minute.
if you already have lights ouside look at the Pyronix LightCam, both are the same as ring but without the monthly charges if you install a memory card.

Just had it installed in Milton Keynes. The install went painlessly, the guys were good.
Now i’ve got 500MB up and down.Currently paying £25 a month compared to £41 from BT and only getting 50MB.
Only bad point is i’m having to deal with Vodaphone which i swore i’d never do.

    So far so good tho.

Personally i’d get a couple of APs and disable the wifi on the router, that would give you the better handover between APs and not hanging on till the signal goes weak then jumping over. I’ve got 3 Ubiquiti nano lites (only really need 2) dotted about and they are awesome.
If you buy them from broadbandbuyer.com they will preprogramme them up and send them out, all you have to do is plug in the injectors that are supplied and plug the APs on the other end and its done.

I suppose it depends on how long you want the cable last.
You could – Chuck a normal cat5 cable in laid on the ground
    – Use external cable laid on the ground
    – Put normal cat5 in a bit of copex or tube
    – SWA cat6 cable buried – would last longest

    No need to earth it.

Could use Powerline adapters if of the same fuseboard.

Personally, if couldnt find any timber in the wall I’d cut a double socket plasterboard box sized hole behind where the tv going to be mounted, then then mark out the bracket hole and slide some pieces of wood in through the hole and screw through those. It will also be handy if you want to hide the power/signal cables. When finished just fit a blanking plate to the backbox to cover the hole.

If you can run a cable definitly take a look at Ubiquity Unifi Access Points. They are one of the best things i’ve done to my wifi around the house, everthing is on one SSID and changing AC’s is seemless. You can get them all setup before they are sent to you, all you have to do is plug them on to you cat5 cables and away you go.

100yds is pushing it for a set of cheap powerline adapters.  Take the setup step by step.

First get it all working next to the router, then start moving the end you want in the shed further and further away from the router, testing the connection and speed as you go. If and when it stops working you’ll have your answer.

If you have all the wires in place already i’d use them, it’ll work out cheaper as your not paying for the wireless tech. However if youare going to need the odd wireless sensor it can start to work out more expensive to have a hybrid system (can’t beat a wired bell on any sytem tho). Look at Pyronix, Enforcer for wireless or Euro 46 for wired. Both use the same app.

Re the CCTV if your going to install it your self you can get a lot for your money using Hikvision equipment, personally i fit the 5 megapixel  POC (power over coax or cat5)range of cameras and dvrs. A little thought in to running the cables in for the system and you can have a very nice neat system.

If your looking at combined alarm pirs/cameras take a look at visonic equipment.

What ever you do dont go with Verisure. I have been in the industry 25+ and theyre wireless kit is absolutly awful and the installation it self is all put up using double sided tape. They say they have 24hr guards but there might only be one in the entire county. If  you add up the month costs over the entire contract you could have bought a new system 3 times over.

If you want a wireless alarm i’d recommend a Pyronix Enforcer, it’ll take 32 wireless detectors, comes with a wifi card for app control and notifications, also the range on the sensors is one of the best. You can also put Hikvision cameras onto the same app.

Feel free to ask any questions.

**** sakes, you all wonder why local shops are going out of business.

They have to pay staff and wages to do these 10 minute jobs, if it’s so easy to do, do it your self. As a newly self employed person i always struggle with this type of thing. If i charged somebody for what might take me 15 mins but might take somebody without the knowhow an hour or 2, I’d be permanently skint. I’d say there is an minimum charge of an hour and it gets done. Dont like it do it your selfand take the risk.

If your not linked to a central station, there is no reason you should not be able to reset a tamper other than the service company being greedy shits. A half capable alarm engineer should be able to just reset the codes, get into engineering and then turn off the nessesary engineer reset options.

It gets a bit more tricky if the service company have locked the nvm, then you either need the existing engineer code or a new pcb in the main panel.

Been using a Toshiba Satellite for the last 4 years, is still the fasted thing I’ve used compared to other laptops. Pretty sure you could pick up a 2nd hand one for decent money.

They are bloody awful, even our 2 year old got frustrated with it being so slow and would pinch my iphone. They also need to be constantly connected to WiFi or it locks out. You’d be better off getting a second hand ipad and sticking YTKids on it.

How big a job would depend where the break was. I’d put money on it being a loose connection behind a switch or light from the decorating.

I’d park on Mount Farm industrial estate(its right next to the stadium) and walk in, added bonus is you can leave the back way away from the majority of the traffic.
