Still looking for any hint in the OP that he is joking rather than being a bit of a twit.

Those who think the former may be getting it just as wrong as those who think the latter, and may just be trying to show how chilled and very sensitive they are to hidden humour.

For me the OP is a decent bit of polemic writing, and interesting, but not leavened by any humour or self-insight…

Great. A list of all the choices you make and anyone who chooses differently is doing it wrong 🙄

Doesn’t hit nerves. Just pathetic self-definition by what you are not, rather than what you are.

Not surprised you have to search for how many like you are left. Tedious 2nd rate sad trolling.

not a manifesto. More a cry for help.

    1) He had a rather rare form of pancreatic cancer AFAIIK – his isn’t really that relevant to others.
    2) He wasn’t always nice – show me a really successful businessman or politician who is.
    3) It is a big company competing with other companies -and so they will use the same kind of supply chain.

So he wasn’t a man who did the technical side of the innovation – but his record at Apple and Pixar does show him to be a business and packaging innovator. We need people like him to drive innovation and business.

I don’t see any Diana-type hand-wringing, just people realising that – even if he was a not always generous nice person – he was significant.

500 is fine for me on my lid when Im on my own – but when all your mates have 6 packs and Toros etc you cant see a thing in your shadow – which means you have to let them by – which is just not on

    this +1

I ride twisty but not very technical singletrack, and riding into the eclipse caused by one of my mates’ bar mounted lights, which also burns your butt if they are directly behind you, ceased to be acceptable.

So now about 500 on the lid and 1000-2000 on the bars

Does the OP have friends to ride with? If not this may not be an issue 😉

Not necessarily a nice person – and perhaps some of the more controlling aspects of his company have been unattractive… BUT he has definitely been a huge influence on film, telephony, the music industry and personal computing in the last 30 years, and positively shaped our expectations of functionality and design of the electronics we interact with.

Sad that there was so much pathetic hating by a few twits on the previous thread – nice action by the mods.

    RIP

    BB – not really.

6-8 weeks. I booked my car in for a service yesterday for 10 days time.

Why do so many LBSs pull this crap?

Kitchens very good. Only changed one for style reasons. The other two still in place. Easy to install. One with a Corian worktop which makes it a classy looking and cheap kitchen.

Ok – follow up – I ordered a Giant Contact Switch uppy-downy seatpost off them, as they appeared to have it potentially in stock when no one else had it yet, and with £10 off.

They e mailed me back saying “sorry – it will be 5 weeks – do you still want it?” I said yes, and it arrived today, after 5 weeks.

    Brilliant service and good communication.

Once you know how it works it’s easy. I can get a family of 4 through the entire store including eating the meatballs in under an hour. Even the three times I’ve ordered kitchens from them (including collecting them on 2 occasions) I have taken less than 2 hours.

Know the short cuts and what you want, and keep kids/wife under control. Easy.

I think you have been more than reasonable and very understanding about this.

How about seeing if you can get the e mail address of the manager before you pick the wheel up, and sending him a link to this thread pointing out you have kept his shop anonymous so far, and a happy resolution to this issue might mean either good publicity – or perhaps better still – no publicity…

Very funny. Apparently borderline illiterate alleged graduate throws toys out of pram because someone didn’t believe he was 21. And then demonstrates he doesn’t know anything about the ID requirements of other countries. 😆

It’s a stepping stone. Most people who play guitar are not out gigging. In my eldest son’s case it helped lead to him playing a proper PRS 6 string, and now bass. And being in 2 bands. But he will still plug electroacoutic instruments in sometimes. Now if you have a mac or even an iPad, running a guitar of any sort through garage band is a great way of experimenting.

Actually even with a nylon string electro-acoustic or an electro-acoustic ukulele you can get a whole range of sounds ranging from full on metal to pure acoustic. Go for it. It might not be the way the pros do it but It’s fun.

Nowhere decent within 20 miles which really is into MTBs. Tri-Store is helpful and good but that’s it. The others are incompetent, inefficient or mainly preoccupied with their hire business.

Broke mine (dominant right hand) 33 years ago riding fixed-wheel before it became a lifestyle choice…

It was missed (by a medical parent) and it often does not show on xray for 2 weeks or so in any case, The blood supply to it often gets damaged and then can become “avascular” and crumble. Which mine did. I saw one of the best hand surgeons in London 7 years later who said he had a 75% success rate in fixing them. So I did nothing.

Still skiing and MTBing but my wrist doesn’t move that much and hurts badly for a few days every few years. It doesn’t stop me from doing much.

    Damn… agreeing with TJ again…

Other than Lesch-Nyhan syndrome and Prader-Willi, I am struggling to think of an untreatable cause of being overweight which is not related to eating too much for current energy expenditure. Cushings and hypothyroidism are treatable. Some diabetes medications lead to weight gain unless people readjust their diet. Kids with craniopharyngioma put on weight. But can be sorted.

My BMI is 28 – and I know I am to blame.

But some of my best friends have “an externalised locus of health control”…

People I think I am probably prejudiced about:

Kiwis (but love Aussies and lived there)
    Liverpudlians
People who own dogs with legs shorter than 10cm
Cat owners. I am sure some are normal.
Women who smoke (I don’t seem to care as much about the men who do so? which seem illogical)
And I no longer care much about the Northern Irish.

I rode a few weeks back with my Troutie- upgraded ones alongside the visiting ay up reps latest ones.

Firstly he was a cracking bloke. Secondly the trout upgraded 3 yr old ay ups and the ay up latest versions were similar in output. The new ay ups have a slightly warmer colour than the old ones or the trout upgrades..

Either upgrade route would be worth it I think.

    Probably 35 units…

It’s what we Docs used to say was safe… 😉

And no… It is not an arbitrary unit. It measues the actual volume of ethanol swallowed. Lots of people kids themselves. 1 unit for a short but 2 for most wine glasses and 10-11 per bottle.. 2.5 – 3 u for a pint.

    OK – an interesting topic.

We have just held a 12 hour overnight event at our local if rather tame trail centre – Bedgebury.

    Issues

    1) Places to overtake is a legitimate concern if you want to allow a range of different standard riders to be able to compete together.
    2) Bottlenecks also develop – I’ve queued to do bits of an otherwise excellent Gorrick event.
    3) Bridleways which form part of the normal trail – no racing on those.
    4) Respecting the needs of other cyclists who want to use the trails
    5) Respecting other users (horse-riders, walkers, dogs, sprogs etc) especially if you are dealing with a land owner like the FC who are very reluctant to stop anyone doing anything.

For our small race series this means using a separate circuit – off the usual singletrack.

For our 12 hr event it means doing things after the FC has shut its gates, and having an adapted trail using some different bits, some fire road and some singletrack.

So I suspect for the OPs idea to be workable you have to take some of these elements, ie when you do it, altered routes etc etc…

    Manually at about 8-9 seconds.

Those who don’t snipe miss a point about the psychology of ebay and how some people who bid relatively early will also then do a last minute raise in response to later bidders, and you may be able to cut them out of the auction and get a lower price by sniping.

Is the endoscopy actually a TOE? ie an echocardiogram done via an endoscope in the oesophagus rather than the usual through-the-chest-wall view? A pretty routine way of getting better views of some bits of the heart if so…

…and I know dozens of people who have had ablations with no problems.

He was taking pants. You can choose towel rails by heat output. And most bathrooms are relatively small with small windows Our bathrooms are the warmest rooms in the house in winter. All with towel rails only.

It’s not that difficult. We have done 3 ones with both normal CH radiator feed and additional electric elements. Google Vasco. All with conventional plumbing from old rads. All wall mounted with normal 15mm pipes in via TRVs and in different colours. Cheaper ones should be able to do the same thing. Not a problem. On non-brick walls we have mounted them on battens.

You invite people in. You take the consequences with good grace, or you have no friends Sinple politeness as a host. The worst thing you can do is make her feel guilty. You won’t get the money and you won’t keep a friend.

Errr… A good wine glass eg Riedel can increase the perceived quality of wine… Whereas a really good cartridge…. Etc etc

You can decide if you want the money or want a friend, and all the people she tells about this as friends…

If I left a precious antique crystal vase around when guests came round and then only said it was fragile and precious when it was ” too late” I’d blame myself and put it down to experience, rather than blame them. I feel your pain. But most people will not get why it is so valuable.

A lot of tennis elbow type symptoms arise from neck injuries. If you have no idea what caused your tennis elbow you might want to rule out a neck injury first.

Err… Evidence please…. And how do you rule out neck injury in the absence of recent trauma? 😉

3.5 stone in 2 weeks is impossible even with cancer/hepatitis and the iDave diet. That’s 1.5 kg a day. When the average daily calorie requirement, if you ate nothing, would be equivalent to about 220g of tissue loss. What’s really going on here?

Cancer is part of my business. What are we talking here?

OK ssjeff so you are a trolling tosser with no sense of politeness or punctuation.

A bloke going slowly uphill could be in granny, middle or big ring. But how are they going to deal with the awesomeness that is you…? 🙄

It’s a big world out there. There is room for lots of people who ride in different ways. If you are so insecure and pathetic that this is the way you need to express your individuality, good luck mate.
