Shaving sockets are allowed in bathrooms, and other sockets if more than 3m from baths etc.

If by “progressive” you mean new ideas you found on the net with no evidence at all, or bogus diets and scares from the Mail, or your multiple allergies diagnosed by a”nutritionist” to everything you need for a healthy diet, or how your concept of “holistic” mysteriously ignores your own major emotional and psychological issues… I’d agree, please don’t make an appointment. See someone “alternative”. God made sheep to be shorn… 😉

Used to use avg and avast, just not necessary now

I find it difficult to believe any IT pro would recommend Norton or Macafee these days. Sold like insurance for your kettle by Currys.

There has never been a better time to listen to music. And my kids love it.

They play different instruments, their music lessons are more interesting than mine. They play in bands and ensembles of different kinds. They are much more eclectic in their tastes too.

The first question is “does the helmet fit” ?“

Those POC ones always look a bit hot too. Not so good for hot days or going off piste.

yep. Chapeldown or Nyetimber for special occasions – champagne when you want people who don’t understand English wines to think you are giving them something good, Prosecco for summer evenings and Curry.

Good move STW. The sidebar of shame with its sexist leering celebragasmic spew alongside the worst kind of stirring and page-hit-pimping “journalism” deserves no extra income from hits.

STW isn’t the Times, it’s a MTB mag and forum. They get to do what they want.

fatyowls. Those of us who liked George Carlin give a shit. He’d hate that.

Look at his landmark “seven dirty words” routine to see how he was the godfather of alternative comedy

    Nice spot Konabunny

OP/mods can you get a title change for this thread?

The true author of the piece isn’t George Carlin, Jeff Dickson, the Dalai Lama, nor is he anonymous. Credit belongs with Dr. Bob Moorehead, former pastor of Seattle’s Overlake Christian Church. (He retired in 1998 after 29 years in that post). The essay appeared under the title “The Paradox of Our Age” in Words Aptly Spoken, Dr. Moorehead’s 1995 collection of prayers, homilies, and monologues used in his sermons and radio broadcasts:

To see how good Carlin was, google his version of the aristocrats…

Clubride last year – us bunch of southern jessies at a trail centre

Bloke feels not right – but knows the place well – insists on heading back by himself. 5 mins later not feeling so good – luckily has phone – a few of us get back to him. Small heart attack. Ambulance etc. Everyone ok.

A totally different scenario for sure – but made me reevaluate letting people go back on their own on organised rides.

Multiple issues here. The woman on her way back should have either insisted BF came with her, or not whinged to someone else when he didn’t. And he should have insisted on going back with her. And when he didn’t, someone from the club should have done the decent thing… and if they had gone back with her, they should have helped her with her mechanical… and if they had helped, she should have …

ok, probably better stop there… 😉

Tom. A fair point. But about a year ago I told someone on this forum with a cardiac issue to seek help immediately, and he didn’t. Things could have been very much worse.

Stu is looking for reassurance. Men, particularly, often seek reassurance and then do nothing.

And somethings like ARVC and HOCM can present like this.

He needs to get the diagnosis sorted and that cannot be done on the internet.

What he said. You really need proper testing.

    Could be a few ectopics
    Could be PAT or PAF
Could be other stuff or nothing at all
There are other things which are not good which have rhythm issues associated.
But this isn’t the place to get a diagnosis.

And we hardly ever use treadmill tests these days. So no points for whoever suggested that one.

We’d tend to do a 12 lead then an R test – a 7 day monitor, and an echo if there is anything more that a few PVCs. Some of us GPs actually get on and do these, these days.

Good luck. But you are making an appointment on Monday, aren’t you? And not doing maximal exercise until this is sorted.

nope – You might make good points, but he doesn’t. It was a trolling whinge against interruption and “grief whore news specials” – hence the lack of argument I suspect when he posted later. Stylistically BBC1 annoyed me, but BBC2 was done rather well. Different programmes, different tastes. Difficult to get right, but had to be done.

We also live in an ethnically diverse society – despite what you usually see at Trail Centres. He meant a fair bit to me, but I’m sure he meant way more to many people.

There is an off-switch. The OP asked a question – it is being answered.

    Stoatsbrother

There’s more than one channel. And an off-switch.

Yes – Huw and the photo of the same wall with dancing people – where the sidebar gave three different locations – got a bit tedious – could have been way better – and was on BBC2 – BUT..

This is the last great man who will die in our time. Genuinely moving.
I’d be upset if they interrupt 10% as much when the queen dies.

He deserved it. If you don’t get why he was so important and how much he means to the world, and the model he set for a different way of resolving things, a better way of being a man, then naff off into the shadows of ignorance and complacency. 👿

Initially I didn’t feel sorry for him at all… Thought he was pompous and up his own fundament.

But as it came out it is clear just how far the police will go to cover up silly lies.

He did lose his career. His name will never be separated from this. Being a Tory doesn’t mean he deserves this. I’m disappointed some can only view this in terms of class warfare. Do only the poor deserve justice?

Swinging or extra-marital/NSA/FWB relationships may just show the OP the deficiencies in other areas of his relationship with his wife. You’d need a really very solid relationship to do this with your wife/with your wife’s consent, and it would be a shitty thing to do without it.

Dr Jplease beup front with her about how you feel, unless you know you want out. I didn’t handle it brilliantly when I was in your shoes.

    Some strange views here.

People who think sex stops at retirement (I know people in their late 80s who still enjoy it, male and female).
People who think it is automatically the OP who is “to blame”

    There’s a sort of checklist

    1) Is this about your relationship as a whole? Does that need fixing first?
    2) Is she depressed or does she have another medical issue which could cause this?
    3) Do the two of you have enough time with each other alone, and when neither of you are tired/stressed/drunk?

    etc etc.

But some couples do have a big mismatch in sex drive, and that may not necessarily be fixable, if the partner with the lower drive (not always the woman) doesn’t see the mismatch as a problem or something they are willing to talk about or work on. And ultimately it may break the relationship. Been there.

I think Ton was close to it. For a complete and happy marriage relationship you do need love, respect, friendship and sex – of a frequency and type you can both agree on.

Dr J this is a real issue – you do need to think about if you can really be happy if the situation never changes. For some of us blokes, sex isn’t just about getting our end away. It is about closeness and intimacy and communication. Are you going to be able to be happy if things don’t change? If not, you need to let her know.

In the body I’d be tempted to say something like “Smith’s commentary (1) on Brown’s analysis (2) of Muppet’s work (3) ” and then cite them separately…

Benenden are not a full insurance scheme. And as someone who refers via them, I find their admin, restrictions and criteria for successfully allowing a referral to proceed very frustrating. I wouldn’t recommend them.

I’d also be pretty careful about private-only GPs. Can’t really say more than that.

Actually, I wouldn’t take out private insurance full stop. I’d put the money it cost monthly into a separate account, until it reached say 5-10 k. Anything which costs more than that you want done in an NHS hospital. Save yourself the large chunk of your premium which is profit and admin.

Investigate and punish all the soldiers involved and then you have to investigate and punish all the paramilitaries involved. And some of those appear as senior politicians on our TVs. Do that and the far-from-irreversible peace may disappear.

People who advocate some of the more aggressive retribution need to grow up and think whether they would rather have vengeance for their already dead relatives, or be able to enjoy the future with their children not dying the same way.

I also doubt whether there would be any stomach from the mainland UK citizens for a greater future troop involvement. Many of us are tired of the mindless Orange/Loyalist rhetoric, and would rather see Northern Ireland cut out of the UK than that happen. Even the republican community might begin to think it is better to be linked to the rest of the UK than the financially strapped “celtic tiger” to the south.

And how can people get so upset about a presenter? Her or Davina or Piers? Just change the channel.

Neal glover. It is meant to be able to do the job it is designed for, for at least 2 years. The battery is an integral component, not like oil, water or electricity. If a car’s battery stopped working within the initial warrantee I’d expect it it be replaced 😕

That’s the way most of them are found these days. But the process is we calculate a wells score to look at the probability first, and if it is low- moderate we then do a d-dimer. If that is negative we leave it there, if positive we give clexane or rivoroxaban to start treatment, pending a USS (ultrasound scan). If that is positive, warfarin or a NOAC drug. If negative reassure and stop treatment.

This is all much smoother and means less time in hospital than 20 years ago.
