Ninfan has it. I’ve not seen a divorce yet where the woman doesn’t turn into an evil manipulative bitch.

no he hasn’t. My divorce is entirely amicable, even though my wife had reason to be angry.

And remember – a relationship which ends has not necessarily failed. You will be able to look back and see that there were good things you had from it even though it has ended, and not regret starting. As the great Dan Savage says, every relationship you ever have will end, till you are in a relaitonship where one of you dies… Change is inevitable.

    As above

    1) no more contact with the GF – she isn’t going to change. Cut her off completely.

    2) It isn’t your business to throw a grenade into a marriage which at some level works. If the wife was thinking about having kids, or was about to buy a house or business with the husband, then may be you would be doing her a favour. Lots/most marriages have infidelity in them, you get to hear about the ones that break up, not the ones who keep going. Sometimes infidelity being public knowledge in a wider circle, rather than private, forces a split.

    Shelves?

If there is any problem, I’d get them to do the lengthways cuts and buy a cheapo mains circular saw and do the crossways ones my self. (remembering a mask – it is MDF…)

I have had problems with the accuracy in timber merchants, and it is usally the length of the piece rather than the width that screw projects up.

It used to say Haig Fund when I was young. A rather nasty irony there…

And £40 mill is pretty spot on for 2012, Piemonster as their quoted figure for the poppy appeal..

Had a 320d. Bodywork made of tissue places, and electronics which lie. Lovely engine though.

    Yep
That’s so true. Met my partner via the Internet = normal
Used to go skiing with people I met on the web (sH) = weird.

Online dating and FB is the norm now. Forums are to the rest if the world, perhaps save mumsnet, is considered uber-nerdy. A step which most have skipped. And the chat element of SnowHeads has all but gone.

    Hey ho.

    Complex.

Do I want to remember the dead? Yes. But All the dead.
Would I prefer it if the whole poppy thing had become less socially obligatory and therefore no longer a mark of genuine thought about the fallen? Again – yes.
But the poppies around the ToL last year were one of the most moving things I have seen.
But perhaps the poppy imagery and links to the RBL add a parochial jingoistic element to remembrance?

But I am with the OP. On that plane it’s wrong.

Yep. On a plane back from there right now.
I’d try and stay in the Huertas area near that plaza.
There are soon really good looking hotel deals for there on TA

    Thanks OP. That’s brilliant.

I order capsules every 2 months. So the vouchers are useful. Used them before. Got two machines, one at my partners house with a aeroncino there. A spare whisk for the frother would cost £10…

I’ve just ordered a black magimix machine with frother from Currys for £99.99, – 10% discount = £89.99, with £75 of coffee vouchers…

… And I may get another £9 back via quidco…

The printer cartridge analogy is good.

It is possible the net additional cost of getting a new machine and new frother with all the spare bits is about £6…. 😯

It is billed as a free delivery service, but almost always you can get things far cheaper from non prime suppliers via Amazon. The music thing could become interesting. I exhausted the prime video stuff I wanted rather quickly. For than Netflix or Now TV are better.

All this is really useful. Got my first ” visit the sprog at uni” visit in 2 weeks..

Suspect he’s having a good time judging by FB.

Good luck OP. I’ve looked forwards to this for years. Son becoming adult with his totally separate world. Wondering how I can help.

Nespresso descaling fluid has ruined my Latissimo with a foul taste.

Had that with a nespresso machine. Running tanks of water through it , perhaps 20 or 30 long shots, through the same old capsule fixed it. Don’t know if that will work for you… HTH

Last minute package holiday deals, snowHeads bashes, become a rent boy favoured by Russian Oligarchs in Courchevel…

If you aren’t into the gnarly stuff, there are shed loads of decent small resorts Britains don’t get near. Italy is cheaper than Austria or France which are cheaper than Switzrland.

Tom. Trouble is, you can’t get there when they need you. They’ve had a mare of a time Sunday to Monday this week, and I got out to Madrid by the skin of my teeth. The idea is sound though 🙂

Which office just out of interest? My OH works there for the airport.

Brighton or Haywards Heath are the obvious places. But she lives in Esher and as she’s going against the commuter flow the commute isn’t too bad until inside the M25.

Yes! Walked Waterloo to Greenwich along the Thames earlier this year. Brilliant.
Currently walking miles and miles around Madrid every day.

If I walk slowly as in a shop or museum then I get backache, but otherwise ok.

It is new, but it’s all the herbal girlie tea that has forced us to have a word which means (to me) really strong tea with not much milk and a high likelihood of sugar.

Little bags or muslin parcels on strings have forced us to these desperate measures…

    Might be unintentional spoilers…

    Poor plotting
    Too many London touristy scenes
    Snow yet no skiing
Belluci sexier than the main girl
Interesting callbacks to other films, but he doesn’t recognise that someone he knew from 12-14 is Blofeld, when he’s met Blofeld a few times before and investigated his genealogy in OHMSS
    No humour
And the second baddy was the main baddy in Sherlock… Rather recently.

Against that, best precredit sequence and titles for years and Sam Smith less annoying at the cinema than on the radio, and the best Q ever.

After Skyfall and Finney with Dench, it was never going to be as good, but this was Timothy Daltonesque in its averageness.

NG. In both cases the barman asked if they were sure, and then asked if they wanted it warm, but the twits didn’t click.

So think you are blaming the wrong person here. I think it’s a stupid misappropriation of someone else’s language. Like cul de sac…

Bet you order lattes too… 😉

It’s been said before, but the use of language like this allows bad coffee to be served to idiots at premium prices.

At a bar with an espresso machine there should only be a choice of 1) espresso/cafe/cafe solo.
    2) Machiato/cortado/noisette
    3) Capuccino
    4) cafe au lait/con leche
In the standard volumes and costing between 1-2€ … 😀

Got an astigmatism.. It’s easy with proper glasses. It’s about relaxing your focal point to be behind the screen
Unless you have one eye, or amblyopia or wildly different refractive indices in your eyes and you don’t use contacts I’d think anyone could do it…

I loved it the two times I have seen twits from England ask for a Latte in Italy and get served warm milk.

It does not mean a milky coffee in the language which you borrow to sound sophisticated at a crap Starbucks you numpties…

But I think some of these, trail dog etc are reasonable. Action as a verb is useful, and “medal” saves time versus “finish on the podium”. I believe some grammar experts are now accepting less as well as fewer for countable nouns.

Meaningless interjections, like, you know, well, so I said to her, which add nothing but time, and I was, really, like really totes annoy me though… Oxygen thieves. Grrrrrrr…

Cos if you were serious you’d contact the mods not post here. And if you weren’t serious you’d surely do this rather better…

That gives even more combinations which can win…
Can we agree that there are 7 to the 14 overall possible permutations?
An online calculator suggested to me that there were 45325 possible >50% combos…

    Stoatsbrother

Aracer… Exactly… And the answer also has to include the chances of 9, 10, 11,12, 13 & 14 votes for each of the 7..,
    A lot of permutations…

    Stoatsbrother
    Free Member

So what you are really asking is what the chances of 8 or more out of 14 voters picking any one of the 7 options… That sounds complex, and small. Much easier with just one or two choices. And the chances of random assortment of views in any real world situation is small…

    … Which is a way of saying I don’t know how 😉

Edukator by Random I’m pretty certain he meant “with no symptoms” and the evidence that regular screening in the French manner works just isn’t there.

Also – we simply don’t know how screening diagnosed cases would have progressed. I have seen people with PSA diagnosed Prostate Cancer at Gleason 6 or 7 who have shown no progress at all over many years.

An analogous situation is Breast Screening with mammography. We know it does save some lives, nowhere near as many as we hoped, and lots of the cancers picked up are DCIS which actually may not be a problem at all.

Simple conclusions about, 1) I had a test, 2) It diagnosed cancer which wasn’t causing symptoms 3) I had treatment which my urologist said was just in time 4) therefore the blood test saved my life… are premature. This is why there are big studies being done.

OOB that is a sensible pragmatic approach I think.
