cougar not you or the mods. You do a fine and difficult job.
StoatsbrotherFree MemberHmmm…
Seems like
1) the OP hasn’t yet bothered doing what sensible people here have suggested, discussing things with the Police re the terms of his release and registration.
2) The locals he demonises as not caring possibly might just not like the OP, who recently here, I believe, seemed unable to stomach any criticism of Jacob Rees-Mogg….
3) The OP might be a returnee to STW under a new name? Or have I got this wrong?OP, have a chat with the police. I think your concerns are understandable, but need to be handled sensibly.
StoatsbrotherFree MemberThe link to the login box hugely improved things, but so did using the software which must not be named…
No other forum has made this necessary in the past for me.
So I think
I do idly wonder whether there’s a kind of catch-22 going on here. People cancel their subs and / or use ad-blockers because they believe the site has issues, the net result is that there’s less revenue to pay for development and a greater need for more adverts.
was putting the cart before the horse. The site had huge regular issues which did not always seem to be taken seriously, And the management attitude towards us sheep was one of the things that made be hand in my P.
StoatsbrotherFree MemberIn the UK, London City or Edinburgh
In Europe, Zurich, or Venice Marco Polo
In the US, Jackson Hole. DFW isn’t bad though. I cannot understand how BA tolerate JFK T7 being so shitty.StoatsbrotherFree MemberIf the FB PR people had spun it as heroic firefighters “prevent pork being over-cooked” rather than “prevent pigs being killed” there would have been no fuss.
The more important issue, surely, is do Fire engines carry red sauce or brown sauce?
StoatsbrotherFree Member+1 for this scenario – which could have been avoided by the optician… :(
StoatsbrotherFree MemberDT78
Respecting my more knowledgable colleague’s opinion… but…
If the optometrist/optician thought you should be seen immediately or in the next 24 hours, they should have sent you direct to the on-call ophthalmologist which they absolutely can do. By not doing so, they have set the pace… There are some opticians who seem to be pretty lazy about sorting things out themselves though.
Your GP will add no value in looking at your eye, but they might wish to get an urgent CT scan of your head which is what you may need… But in most optician initiated eye referraals we are a pointless step.
If you have a headache or nausea or any other symptoms which is worse first thing in the morning, or when you are lying down or cough and sneeze, I’d be seeing your GP urgently face to face.
Even if the GP has referred you immediately you may find that your local eye department triages this differently from the expert above.
StoatsbrotherFree MemberThese days the court in which he will be tried most severely, will be that of social media.
His name will come out and I wonder if he will have a job in a months time
StoatsbrotherFree Memberwish we could get that level of service here… local Hospital emergency eye service triaged one of my patients with significant distortion on Amsler as “see in a week”. I told them to get on a train to Moorfields :(
StoatsbrotherFree MemberThis has happened in every car I have had with this function.
At least the current one’s speedo only overreads by 3mph at 70
StoatsbrotherFree MemberNot going this year, but I’d be seeing John Robins – saw it in preview – brilliant.
I’d also hunt down
Geins Family Gift shop
Fern Brady
Alice FraserStoatsbrotherFree MemberIt is possible – but if you have kids or any capital…
You’ll have to get a Consent Order drafted by a solicitor in order for the court to approve and for it to be legally binding.
You’ve done the hard bit in getting the agreement so an online fixed fee service for £150 or so for peace of mind doesn’t seem much….…seems like good advice and is roughly what we did, not online, but we used the same solicitor saying we had agreed it all already and didn’t want to get confrontational even when they tried stirring the pot a bit.
StoatsbrotherFree MemberUs white middle-aged men are not an endangered or discriminated-against species, and all those Mens-Rights people can eff off… But…
There is a societal conditioning that we need to be robust and find solutions as Cougar says. And I find that if I express 50% of the emotion or reaction to stuff that my partner does, or show I am upset, I am labelled as being “emotional”, like that’s a bad thing… Can’t win sometimes… :(
StoatsbrotherFree MemberBest Man 1st time round is on the IoW, and saw him last year. But things are different now.
Best Man next summer will be my older son. I’m not going to lose touch with him. My dad did with me and I am not going to make the same mistake.

I’m thinking the same way at the mo, and doing Spanish A level with a view to a Modern Languages degree in 3-4 years time. OU definitely sounds like it has its attractions, but I would really like to find a way of doing a University course where I go to a uni, but only 3 days a week (so just like a normal student ;) )
interesting how elzorillo’s post actualy backs up enfht’s political points…
I am vaguely left wing but I would hate that – I wonder how much a language course would be affected?

looking forwards to Rick & Morty series 3
Master of None
Just finished Grace and Frankie, and latest Silicon Valley
Got stuck halfway through the latest House of Cards – lost the love.basically there are some I watch with my partner, and some with my son – they have rather different tastes.
StoatsbrotherFree MemberGerman Shepherds actually, no really…
cumberlanddan Not sure I agree. And in the aftermath of the politics of the last year, I think we should try and stay out of the echo chambers of our own views and seek to listen and understand the reasons for others views. If we start by hating them, we don’t listen. I dislike what he believes, but I also disliked Tim Farrons mealy-mouth beliefs.
StoatsbrotherFree MemberHis views can be unpleasant without him being unpleasant or odious. And we kind of lose the argument when we play the man rather than the ball.
Of course there are some, like Jeremy Hunt, and Teresa May, who show themselves to be colossal hypocrites with unpleasnt views as a bonus.
I have close friends who have rather different views to mine.
StoatsbrotherFree MemberAA In the past few days other people have pointed out to you your misunderstandings and logical errors, and once again you have failed to read what other people said. Nowhere did I say you were a problem owner. I said the attitude you were displaying here was that we see with some dog owners and part of the problem. And by repeating your angry playground insult you don’t help your argument that you aren’t.
You have, incidentally, acted as a great test of just how TJ has changed his approach.
Not sure any minds are going to be changed here. Hope the OP got everything sorted.
StoatsbrotherFree MemberLet’s first start by all realising that not everyone wants a dog running up to them and sniffing/pawing/playing with them, or even just being friendly. They may have had a horrendous experience in the past/
Let’s then move to dog owners accepting that and training their dogs, or selecting appropriate breeds, or deciding not to own a dog.
Finally, let’s see dog owners when the dog has misbehaved, proactively apologising, and not saying “he never normallly does that”.
In the meantime teaching people to deal with dogs is really sensible, but let’s not blame them for faling to adopt a defensive posture, or pretend they aren’t victims. I get to see a fair few people bitten by dogs. They are.
Can we agree on that?
StoatsbrotherFree Membertheotherjonv: I absolutely agree with you.
But you see one apologist here, whilst saying that, casting doubt on whether bitten people are victims and suggests they are partly the cause. Another one caliing people who disagree a dumb shit, and one on the other thread calling the OP a prick.
Nice…
StoatsbrotherFree MemberNot the fault of the ‘victim’ in any way, but it does seem to be a common cause.
1) They are actually a victim, not a “victim”.
2) By stating this is the ’cause’, rather than a small factor – you are victim shaming… again…
3) Yes – being aware of how dogs might behave is really sensible and is perhaps why I am never bitten, but to put any onus at all on young kids to behave in a certain “correct” way because a scary beast owned by a muppet hasn’t been trained properly is evading the issue.StoatsbrotherFree MemberIt can be done – Sunday before last I counted 45 dogs I saw on a 1 hour ride on Esher and Oxshott Common. All polite owners. I usually talk to the dog as I approach. Perhaps 1/10 rides I encounter a badly behaved owner-dog combo.
StoatsbrotherFree Member:)
more people who think the world needs to fit in with the animals they choose to take responsibility for… yet some how don’t…
some of whom were pretty unpleasant to the OP on the other thread, and some of the posts on that disappeared so you cannot see just how unpleasant.
You can do what you like I couldnt care less.
and there is the attitude of the owners who cause this whole issue..
StoatsbrotherFree MemberOld boots have died ( and did about 25 weeks so not bad) and looking at Touring boots this time – so interested…
I think the Salomon touring bindings did have some early catastrophic failure issues… sorted now
StoatsbrotherFree MemberIt’s obviously trying to learn from the US show style of fake interviews seen on the Daily show, and Nish is the best bit by a long way. 50% of it was just deeply disappointing.
Hopefully it will find its feet, and be given time to adjust but overall it was pretty poor.
StoatsbrotherFree Membermrlebowski err what…
Do you mean pot pot, or kettle kettle… cos you quote the op … puzzled I am
StoatsbrotherFree Membercouncilof10
You really aren’t good at this discussion thing, are you? You went ad hom waaaay too soon. And you seem to be arguing that he should be given credit for having archaic moral views on the grounds that they fit with the tenets of a historically corrupt religious organisation which has done untold harm in Africa, when the majorty of its adherents in Western Europe don’t take those tenets seriously,
What Keith Joseph described as the “politics of envy” are unattractive and I don’t think his family’s wealth should matter unless he acts in their interests rather than his constituents.
What I see with him, however, is an interesting mediocrity who attracts TV coverage but has not done much of significance yet…
So – no – I don’t see why you are a bit moist about him… :)
Whereas Micheal Gove may have the most puncheable face in politics… but probably does have the intellect and did do some interesting stuff with prisons.
AdamW – loving your work :)
StoatsbrotherFree Membermefty thanks – you are absolutely right of course – wrong words.
StoatsbrotherFree MemberBen H That doesn’t all apply to us GPs. We have always been in a money purchase scheme where we pay an increasingly large percentage of our earnings each year (currently mine – at age 56 – is 13.5% with 14.3% from our “employer”, the scheme is fully funded and our pensions pot reflects our total lifetime earnings plus inflationary adjustment etc… Not a final salary, and you would do damn well to get anywhere near 50%.
As you say – for all Docs, the change in Lifetime allowance now encourages people to take their pension earlier, or stop contributing, and is a major part of the reason why GPs are retiring earlier – add into that the punitive change in “annual allowance” taxation, there is now also an incentive to work part-time or move nto the private sector and leave ones NHS pension frozen. And if I hadn’t transferred money to my ex on divorce I’d be looking at that about now.
These unintended consequences – plus the loss of confidence in EU Drs in coming here are part of the reasons the NHS medical staffing is going to be stuffed, at a time when in my line of work, workload has gone up 16% in the last 6 years, pay has fallen, and the number of Drs working has gone up by less than 1%….
However – the thread is about the state pension – and really at a time when we live so much longer – what the hell did we expect? A magic-money tree? ;)
StoatsbrotherFree Memberthat… what Ro5ey said
projection of her own issues
Things ok between you and your wife?
StoatsbrotherFree MemberI had a gold mark 3 cortina with a brown vinyl roof… but it was 1982…
Since then, white, red, silver, red, grey, green, blue, grey, blue, blue… but in my defence I didn’t keep the 4 boring coloured ones long.
StoatsbrotherFree MemberFrom Auto Express
For the fourth consecutive year, the most popular colour for new cars in the UK is white. According to data released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, it tops the charts with 20.51% of all new cars registered in 2016 finished in the hue. That’s a total of 552,329 cars.
It’s a tight-run race though, as the monochromatic podium also includes black in second place and grey in third, with market shares of 20.16% and 17.29% respectively. That means overall white, black and grey cars made up nearly 58% of new car registrations in 2016.
They then go onto say that white is becoming less popular, but black and silver more popular…. :(
seems the same in the US
http://www.datagraver.com/case/evolution-of-car-color-in-north-america-since-2000
Onzadog do you think that is because safer drivers choose white, or because white is safer?
StoatsbrotherFree MemberI think anyone who drives any of these fat urban SUVs should take an extra parking test. I live have the week in Surrey and the car parks and roads outside schools are made impassable by big Volvos, Audis and Discos, usually black, often driven by a blonde on the phone…
StoatsbrotherFree MemberI was bitten by a horse when crossing a field on a public footpath when I was 16. No rider on it though…
…so perhaps if all dogs had riders?
…or failing that, responsible owners who like a horse rider sought to control their animals?
No – it would never work…
