JY! , flip your argument around, what about the ethics of a monopoly employer dictating employment terms unilaterally?

As regards medical students, that’s a total logic fail, you are talking about choices made at 17 or 18 by kids who don’t know what they are in for. It is 7-10 years down the road they learn the truth, by which time they are disillusioned, underpaid and in debt. You might want to look at the early retention rate, or for that matter why all my GP and Consultant friends are heading for the retirement door as fast as we can.

Built 3 kitchens and a utility room with them now in the last 20 years – and I am now living elsewhere and I miss them – I have even bought innards from IKEA to upgrade the Kitchen in my current house. My partner’s house where I spend half my time has really crap units with hidden wasted space and poor carcasses.

Well built, they use space well, look modern and are easy to construct.
I always fis them to a batten against the wall and square everything properly.

Put a Corian worktop on one which was very good.

And +1 for Franke sinks and taps – Mythos ftw

Rough Mix – his album with Ronnie Lane – is on my favourites list. But a bit meh otherwise. Not the level of ongoing influence that some others had.

Not quite as good as S3, would have liked to see more resolution, and Hammerschmidt make more progress. In fact – the whole story to come to ocmpletion ideally in the same way the UK series did… felt like it was being dragged out at the end.

On a 6.5 year old iMac, slow before upgrade last week, to be able to access a new iPhone 6s, and slow after too… But prettier. 🙂

Got one of those hats from LL Bean 24 years ago… My wife wouldn’t let me wear it. Think she was right! 🙂

For me, an Arcteryx sidewinder ski jacket, cost a lot 10 years ago or so. Still works brilliantly as do the minuteman trousers I got someone off a forum at the same time. Done about 32 weeks on the snow.

You could meet someone to sell them a nearly new laptop – and do the old “switch the box and give them the one with a brick in it” trick…

    What tyres for a fast get away… ? 🙂

Come on – Surely it needs to be an iPhone at a surprisingly low price?

You need groundwork. I’d be getting a new ID and starting posting some stuff in the chat and bike forums now to generate some trust, and maybe buying something cheap from someone else… 😉

M25 works better with variable speed limits.

More haste = less speed, etc…

One thing that I don’t get is the way my partner’s kids spend tons of time checking bus and train arrival times and faffing around so they can leave the house and catch the thing with < 30 secs to spare. If they just left 2 minutes earlier, they’d save time and stress less and miss it less often.

One child after a few tablets, then a long wait, then one via IVF. He’s now 6ft and 14.

I think there were aspects of the whole thing that were unhelpful. The pressures around sex in particular, and now we are not together, but that’s from 11 years afterwards.

Not sure how I’d have dealt with failure

Like a drink, quite a lot. But I’ve never let it stop me from getting out there to ski or ride. And the behavior when drunk of a previous partner was a factor in the end of the relationship.

I think those who drink/do drugs too much or think that it makes them so cool, and those who are evangelical or judgemental about not drinking/doing drugs are all rather boring.

Trivial really but the combo of a fractured acetabulum (hip joint) after an off in Friston, leading to some arthritis already showing, and a knee cartilage injury in the same side, mean I can cycle and ski, but long walks in the hills which were what I thought would replace MTBing in a few years, are probably out.

It’s a small thing really but I’m thinking about what I’ll be doing when I retire.

My partner tends to hum or sing the last tune she heard. It can be bad. I’ve tried singing Deutschland uber alles to get her to sing that and stop herself . Doesn’t work. Will give karma chameleon a go…

scotroutes. I’ve unfollowed the worst offenders, but some reasonable people creep under the radar and then perpetrate nauseatingly trite posts. But they probably don’t like all mine. Hey ho.

What I do dislike is the assumption of some here that every one who posts something nice on FB about their partner or relationship or life is either lying, insecure or about to come a cropper. There are some miserable old gits out there.

I think there are some people here with a slightly old fashioned view of social media, and that is me speaking as an old git. Look at the way younger people use it.

We have all, always, however much we have denied it, and however matter of fact we feel, developed images of ourselves and our relationships which we project to the outside world.

For many younger people, there is a now a virtual social media image alongside this, curated and sculpted by them. See your teenagers interacting with this, and you see how important it is to them, (not all, my 14 yr old son seems relaxed about his, my partner’s 14 yr old daughter less so).

For me FB allows organization of MTB stuff, staying in contact with people who I haven’t ridden with or skied with for a while. It also allows me and friends to post what are basically postcards. And yes, for my partner and I who have only been together for 15 months, to share where we are in our lives together with friends.

And I see some stable loving long established couples doing the same.

What I don’t get is the people who post platitudinous bullshit posters, and all the “share this if you have ever…” toss. 😈

The newspaper article has the crime stoppers number.

If he cannot show proof of purchase and won’t give you a frame number to check, I’d be ringing that number…

Yep. It does start tonight. I saw him do some of the work-in-progress stuff in preparation for this and it was good. Couldn’t get tickets to the recordings 🙁

His book is good. Stops about 5 yrs ago though.

The P doesn’t help that much either.

currently getting logged out at least once a week on 4 devices despite not closing pages or shutting down, and then having to wait ages for all the crap to get out of the way before the log in link appears.

    Not happy. I don’t want a maserati

Mattyfez. Neither correct nor funny. Tell me your line of work and we can make some guesses about that. 🙂

Metronidazole is the only commonly used antibiotic we warn about. There is a rather nasty interaction that some people get with it and alcohol. But not all, and only some severe. Google is your friend. However if you are ill in a way which needs other antibiotics, getting bladdered probably isn’t a brilliant idea anyway.

I believe FD has some medical connections, might be wrong. Let’s see what happens. 😉

Indeed… unless other people have skill and appropriate tyres you are probably going nowhere…

BUT there is a reason why snosox are not used much by people in Alpine areas and you won’t be allowed up some “fit chains” roads with them.

For me, the thing that improved my ability to get out in the snow was selling my BMW and getting a proper car 😉

Well done OP. Correct call, and her response to your understandable concerns is all you need to know.

Just because the relationship is over – doesn’t mean it totally failed. It was right at the time, it isn’t now – certainly for her.

And beware the “sunk cost fallacy”. Just because you invested so many years, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t walk away in this situation.

    Anyway
    1) Order Bike
    2) Discuss with Lawyer if property or financial or kids complications.
    3) ride bike.
    4) Date a bit

NBITF – thanks – I think the Hope ones are priced rather highly – I’ve got their Pro and BB tools – just not the evo 2s… Your advice is much appreciated. Generally speaking I’m happy to do anything other than rear shock servicing, and prefer to do so.

    I really like this place.

I’ve got a sub and a P and a stack of a mag which I like, but haven’t got round to reading the last few issues.

I’ve been logged out on 3 or 4 different platforms last week, found it slow and difficult to log back in, and now this.

Not flouncing, but I do think Mark needs to think carefully about losing subs from some of us who have already given him cash up front, without even cancelling every now and then to get a free gift…

Either P means that you’ll not try to screw us and experiment on us, and perhaps will try and run something which works a bit better in terms of log outs, or some Direct Debits might get cancelled. But It’s a free market, and it’s Mark’s choice.

I loved it, especially Havana and Trinidad. I would not go to one of the all-inclusive places though. Spent 2 days at one – enough.

The music is great, the food variable – some brilliant, some bland.

Some people trying to rip you off, but less hassle than many places.

We did 4 centres with Taxis from place to place. There is some good road cycling territory too.

Christiania is sad dirty and passed its cool-by date
Tivoli at night is a must
The twisted tower on top of St Saviours
    The modern food market place

Book any restaurants you want to go to ASAP. Not always easy to get in on spec.
