For years my driving licence said my name was Norma … which it isn’t.

All good to know … Doug that’s where all my 5:10s go, shame as the soles still have plenty of life left.

I sold some forks to a fella in Slovenia … no trouble.

I take it the AM 40’s are better constructed than 5:10s?

I love 5:10s but I get through them at quite an alarming rate (instructing/guiding most days). I’d be willing to sacrafice a little grip for something which doesn’t fall apart quite so often.

If you want 100% waterproof you’ll have to look at something like those Fox clear plastic jackets. Certainly 100% waterproof.

I’d go and look at some of the Vango stuff. http://www.camperlands.co.uk had some good offers on last week.

The one pictured on the email is 22l capacity and appears to have a couple of hanging/pole loops on the back … if that helps.

It’s over, it is no more.

Once the timing issues get sorted then it might come back.

After a seperated shoulder a couple of years ago I’d started to really hate wearing a backpack … until I tried a Wingnut. If you can justify the extra £, I’d certainly take a look. I believe Spokebloke over at spokeshirts is now selling them. They do look slightly odd but are fantastic.

I’m a mountain bike instructor Finbar. Live on a farm in the mid Wales mountains with GF, 2 llamas, 2 lurchers, 2 owls and a blind sheep called Helen … you couldn’t make it up.

My ‘office’ is a 1000 acres of forest, we’ve no neighbours hence I get to do the naked thing if I fancy … but not when I’m instructing obviously. 😉

I used to own a motorbike shop (17 years). Worked 6 days a week, 10-14 hour days, only ever had 1 holiday and only 2 days sick in that time. To cut a long story short, I’d built a monster and it dictated every aspect of life. Now I work an average of 4 days a week, outside, riding bikes with great people. I’m never going to make a million but that doesn’t matter … I know chasing that doesn’t make me happy.

200ml is just an amount I’ve been using, a certain amount will leak out as the tyre seals. I figure 100ml to start may not leave enough in side once inflated … this could be utter rubbish mind.

I read the spec somewhere for the 2010 model and I could swear it said Shimano mechanical discs. Even more tempted now 😉

I’m running an inbred tubeless without a cut tube to act as a rim strip.

I cut the valve out of an old tube … left with valve stem and approx’ half inch square of the tube. This is fitted into the valve hole in the wheel (a dab of silicon sealer between the rim and the half inch of tube won’t hurt). Then 3-4 full wraps of insulation tape around inside of wheel. Fit tyre, add 200ml of which ever sealant you like, blow tyre up. Job done.

The world is full of compromise, the trick is working out what you’re willing to compromise. I know people that live a nomadic lifestyle, they own what they can carry and survive on a fiver a day … they are some of the happiest folk I’ve ever met.

I removed myself from the rat race/ normal society a few years ago. People often say that they’re jelous of the lifestyle I’m able to lead but after a few days they admit that they couldn’t live it as the compromises required are too great. They need shops, pubs, cinemas, street lights, TV, phone signal, etc … I value the ability to stand outside stark bollock naked in broard day light without getting arrested 😯

Sorry for the slight hijack but would the same problems be present using bar end shifters and mtb mechs/gears?

I ask as I have a special birthday coming up and I’m thinking a Fargo will make a nice present to myself 😉

    Cheers

Aye, it seems to be the basic rule that 32:16 on 26″ wheels will feel pretty much the same as 32:18 on 29″ wheels.

I’ve got a RAB On Demand e Vent smock, very light, very waterproof and breathable. I did see them at Go Outdoors for less than £100.

Are you standing on the bike quite low / far back with plenty of bend in your knees?

Try raising your ‘attack’ position a bit, obviously your knees need to be bent but it’s often not as much as people think … the more upright you are (straighter legs) the less work your quads need to do to hold your weight.
