Keith did you get your entry fee back? … if you can then I’m considering knocking it on the head too.

Plenty of Shore type stuff in the fields already Pete 😉

I’ll have my bivvy bag with me as I’m riding down … does kipping in a bivvy bag count as a pitch seeing as I won’t be pitching anything?

Yes, it’s a tidy job and in the long run it’ll give me more things to ride 😀

Forest tracks directly west of the start are fair game but keep to the north of the valley bottom as they’re felling at present on the south side … Forest Freeride soon to be Deforested Freeride 😉

Like Pete says, you shouldn’t have trouble finding water wherever you are. Be sensible about where you collect it and you won’t die*

*I take no responsibility for any deaths.

Looks like a nice spot Kev … hailing from the Peak District I feel I ought to know it but can’t place it.

Very impressed with Marks super long guy / booby trap in the second pic 😉

Some of the best gloves I ever had … now with added holes.

I’ll be there, riding from sunny mid Wales and bivvying along the way.

If it were me, I’d sacrifice a bit of grip for a fast rolling, lightish tyre … swampthings possibly not the best option 😀

It would seem we’re having the rain now, rather than the end of May 😉

I recall IanB rode some or all of it during the winter … I’m sure he’ll be along at some point.

I had assumed you’d have it covered already Ian 😉

Glad everyone’s ‘enjoying’ the GR 😉

The ridge route should see you setting off from a very high point and passing over another 2 named smaller summits on your descent … if that helps. If those criptic clues still produce a blank, this link might be some use.

    There’s even video footage 😀

Bigface (and anyone else too) if you get proper stuck, email me an idea of your route or the bits you’re unsure of and I’ll point you in the right direction.

Bigface if you look hard you’ll see a little yellow road with loads and loads of black arrows on it … going along it is without doubt the very best route 😉

SH now changed to SN on the web site, so no need for any ‘What boat for the WRT’ threads 😯

Yes,yes … we’re at SN not SH. The GR on the website is a typo. I shall go and beat Dee to within an inch of her life 😉

It weren’t mine Steve … I was just acting as test monkey 😉

I have to say test results were very favourable and this from a man who owns a Revelate harness.

That’s very true Slugwash. We do seem to think that if we’ve no tent then we must have a bivvy bag. The last few nights around here a sleeping bag and mat would be all that’s needed.

If you can find an off camber corner to practice on, it’ll make the rear tyre break free easier … be warned though, when a tyre breaks free on an off camber section it’ll do so very quickly. You’ll have to be on your toes to catch it.

Bag looks well Anthony … cheap always a bonus.

Bit of a PSA now … some pages back someone asked where I got my Force Ten Helium from for less than £100, well they’re back at £95 http://www.fieldandtrek.com/vango-helium-100-tent-783126

grum, get yourself a copy of OS Explorer 213 and go explore. There’s plenty of interesting stuff North of Nant (and to be honest every other direction too).

Bigface you’ve hit the nail on the head … although the WRT is hard to define, the one thing it certainly isn’t is a race 😉

As much as we all strive for light kit, my old black Inbred weighs rather a lot (ask flatfish) and sometimes it has made things a little tougher (like when it caused quad insertion strains and I couldn’t walk for 2 days 8O) but it’s never stopped me enjoying any and every trip I’ve ever taken it on 😀

Shame you can’t make the WRT Paul … maybe next year 😉

You’re right about the interest, this thread just keeps running, the WRT blog gets 500 hits a day and Bikepacking.net seems pretty busy too. It’s all good!

Is the sub 5kg including food too? … either way, it’s a good weight considering there’s a tent involved 😉
