    Knew you’d be along 😀

Some of the DD’s have bug netting too http://www.ddhammocks.com/product/frontline-hammock?

‘Tis like what I’ve got 😉

Having had a go in both, I can’t really see much difference with regard to comfort, although I’ve not slept in a Henessey – only tried one out. I found the old style (believe they’ve now changed) henessey’s where you entered from underneath a PITA.

To be honest, if you’re thinking of dipping a toe in the water, then a DD is pretty hard to fault.

You get very cold in a hammock if you don’t have something underneath you. A mat will work (DD hammocks have a sleeve you can put a mat in) but it’s not as good as an under blanket.DD sell an under blanket made for them by Snugpak.

I know flatfish has moved onto/is about to move onto a Blackbird Warbonnet (yes, very silly name but very nice hammock)

Watch Dog Soldiers before you go out … it’ll stop you worrying about bike theft 😉

Can’t see any good reason why you’d want to really. It’s a product trying to solve a problem that doesn’t exist … and besides, they’re rubbish 😉

I had a ride on one at SSUK last year that was running flat bars … felt really nice.

As said above, if you’re going to do the 1, 2 or 3 then take an OS map. I’ve met people who were just using the printed map (from the Holy Trail) … some of them were 12 miles off course!

If I see it on my travels Matt, I’ll pop it in my bag and bring it home 😉

I reckon yours won’t be the only one up there though, so you might just end up wth someone elses!

@Anthony, go there fairly often, let me have the GR and I’ll try to pick it up for you … round here stuff has a habit of being where you left it.

I went last year armed with a *bike, map and bivvy bag. Some good riding with plenty of big climbs. I rode a mix of quiet roads and off road, just followed my front wheel really … nice part of the world.

    * Singlespeed may have been a mistake.

That’s right, BIN BAG … collect all the bits of manky sheep and road kill you come across. Points will be awarded for

    1/ Amount

    2/ How rotton

3/ Rarity value, ie sheep is 1 point, otter is 9.

At the end all carcass’s will be turned into stew and served up. Whoever eats the most gets maximum points.

@Bigface … sorry, I can’t say much at the minute. Full(ish) details of everything planned should be about a fortnight.

    I will say:

    • Might be worth getting some big days under your belt.

    • Possibly worth investing in a good bag.

You’d be amazed how many people poke their tongues out when riding 😀

Most people also have no idea which foot they lead with or are aware of applying the brakes.

I think the Welsh Tourist Board would be the best place for a stiff letter … However, they may wonder why it’s taken 4 days to find it 😉

Depends what bag I’m using … inside if it’s my big Rab bag as the base is pretty much like a groundsheet. Outside if it’s a lightweight bivvy bag.

Bigface, it would seem that everything Valleydaddy had planned to use was shelved inc’ his bike and replaced with nice posh kit which included a Singular Swift 😉

Right people, I’ve just had a tally up and I’m glad to report that between you all, you raised £1481 for the Air Ambulance 😀 The local church also got a £20 bonus for lending us their water boiler, I don’t think even my vast collection of stoves would have coped 😉 I’d also like to thank all the companies who donated prizes, your generosity was fantastic – thank you.

It was great to see so many smiles on Monday given the conditions everyone endured throughout the weekend … made me proud to be a masochist.

So that’s it, the WRT over for another year … or is it?

Keep your eyes and ears open over the next few weeks – there may be developments of some description.

Talking of kids, I’d just like to mention Josh who rolled in with his dad this afternoon … AGE 10, well done!. He also went home with a nice new Rab down jacket

    I won nowt but there again I wouldn’t would I? 😉

Everyone back safe and sound … I assume everyone’s safe a sound, a few haven’t signed off but there’s no cars left? Weather cleared up today late morning so lots of sitting around, supping tea and eating cake and flapjack 😀

@ plodtv Second helping of start pics on the blog this morning. Had reports of heavy rain and very high winds on the higher points last night and this morning but the weather’s taken a turn for the better … at the moment 😉

If you were after a test of navigation and endurance you should have been at the start of the WRT this morning 😉

That’s great Kev, nowt like a bit of free kit to boost confidence 😉

I’m sure you’ll be fine out there. I’ve just been writing a few words for a new upcoming venture and you get a mention, so that’s fame and fortune in one day.

@ Ian, I can possibly tell you now without leaving home 😉

@ flatfish … whatever makes you happy is fine by me. Will you be bringing your ultralite gimp mask and bag of oranges with you?

Aren’t carbon legs a little more forgiving?, aluminium legs will produce a slightly harsher ride.

I’d also consider grinding off the outer edge, it may be masking the flame from air to a degree.

I’ll say, all eating in pubs is unlikely but you should be able to stock up on cold food (junk) along the way and carry it with you.

I’ve never had much luck with penny designs … had much better results with a twin walled set up, more work to make but worth it IMO.

Aye, ’tis true Steve … 29″ tubes will just give you more room for punctures 😉

I might Paul .. I hate the one in my Sanderson, must be the worst design for an EBB I’ve ever seen.

@Pete … Steve’ll be on a 29er before long. I gave him a go on my monster crosser. Oddly even though it’s a rigid, singlespeed 29er with drops he seemed to like it 😉

@DNF … the windfarm to the east of Cemmaes?

If so then, yes there are ways up there.

Oh yes Pistonbroke that climb is proper. There’s some very interesting stuff (but a bit cheeky) if you scout around at the big fireroad junction after the climb.
