I have just got back from a session with Tony from UK Bike Skills and he had me concentrating on what you’re after, the progression I made in a few hours was phenomenal.
It was great fun, we were lucky with the weather. I did it on my crossbike and loved it…. until the final descent where the skinny tyre wasn’t enough and I punctured (hmm MonstercrossFTW :-)). Did the bloke on the BMX finish? Respect if he did!
Having ridden mostly XC and a bit of cross I’ve been guilty of being snooty about trail centre riding in the past then last month I did an uplift day at BPW and blimmin loved it! I’d done a ‘self powered’ day there before that left me feeling a bit empty but having 10 runs this time I could really concentrate on my riding. I felt a better rider at the end of the day and have booked more time, won’t stop me doing my normal more natural rides but it’s a good laugh and I definitely got something valuable out of it. And I’m 51 next month 😀
Adventures of Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of Steel blew my mind when it came out and is still a fave, he was a massive innovator and I have a big ole soft spot for old school party hip hop! Cut faster!
The new Dawes Academy range is impressive (but dull looking), triple butted frames etc. For 2015 I think more manufacturers are going to be coming out with ‘posh’ kids bikes.
Fair point re groups but I’ve run into them in the past during their training at night and have turned round and gone the other way but I bet having had 900 lumens blasted in their faces destroyed any nightvision they might have had. They are obviously a lot more difficult to spot at night and therefore more difficult to avoid.
Just come back from the meeting, basic synopsis: due to the influx of troops and machinery heading back from Germany bikeriding is only to be tolerated on roads!!! Some excellent opposition though and the main MOD representative wasn’t even aware of singletrack riding at Caesers Camp! 😯
