To me its not so much singular tech that blows me away its how we are starting to see it being integrated (i.e. the IoT of things), for example the cell phone and the Tesla above.
Facial recognition software, its been around for years but with the advent of cheaper hi-res cameras and matching processing power its amazing how this can be used to tie in with a lot of other tech.
Having played around with some software recently aimed at the retail market, lets hope we don’t lose some of those valuable privacy laws or it will nearly be impossible to sneak of for a craft pint when you are meant to be Christmas shopping.

Also, the casino scene was perfectly timed. It allowed me to go for a piss and not miss anything important

    This.

There should be some kind of sign that come up on the screen that means you can safely leave your seat for 5 minutes and you will not miss anything plot wise. I’m middle aged, films that go past 90 minutes take some logistical planning on the beverage side.

Saw it this morning, OK in places but its not something I would rush back to see unlike Rogue One.
Some nice set pieces, surprisingly funny in places with some of the Frist order officers getting the best lines (preparing to land now) but the dialog was a little clunky, yeh, I know its SciFi but ‘spunk’.
Will be interesting to see where part 9 takes us after this though, thought that Snoke, for all his supposed power, didn’t really seem that powerful in the end.

+1 for the Spike Milligan. Laugh-out-loud funny.

Though the later books in the series do go into his depression and PTSD.

Recently read the Disaster Artist, bit topical since the films just out, but it gave me some serious guffaws in places.

    Madison/Dharco and Endura for kit
    Shimano for pedals
    Maxxis for tires
    Ergon for grips

    Open minded about everything else.

Have a pair of Mavix Crossmax and Specialized 2FO clips, was running some Shimano ME7’s prior to that without any problems as well.
Tend to ramp the pins well in, really just wanted the extra pedal size over my earlier XT Trails.

One Up top guide on my 1×11 previously and now 1×12 on a Tranny Patrol. Easy to install and just does the job, probably don’t need it but doesn’t hurt.

Done half marathons before but managed my first 43km off road night run this year, the Moontrekker, which was the hardest thing I have ever done, will be signing up again with the target of a sub 8 hour time.
It really put me in the mood for trail running so will be signing up for a few of the many event running over winter here.

Like Carslog went Chinese a 4 months ago with a Blackview, BV7000 model, as I keep smashing phones and it was getting both irritating and expensive.
Seems to work just fine and for the features, 3/4/5G, dual sim, Gorilla glass, IP68 rating, , dual GPS, long battery life, 64GB memory etc it was very cheap compared with the equivalent Samsungs.
Build and reliability seem good for the price, around 150GBP in this case.

Have a 17 Patrol and would recommend with the caveats noted above regarding the cable routing, running below the BB, and the cable routing seals letting in water. Its a fun bike but possibly not a good fit if you ride the more peddaly spectrum of trails, then a Scout or Spitfire would be a better fit possibly.

I think that in the weight stakes, all are on the chubbier side of what else is available.

Off to there in Feb so this is useful stuff.
Probably give the bike a full strip down wash the day before and get some new rubber at the same time.

    Been running a 2017 Patrol Carbon for 10 months/2700km.

Regreased the bearings at 1600km but otherwise been running fine and I have a slight reputation for destroying stuff.

I think the early releases had issues with the cable management on the chain stays but can’t say I have heard anything else.

Metric Super Deluxe is good but fitted a Push 116 which is betterer.

Superb bike, only real drawback is its a tadge heavy.

Worked on and off there a lot over the last 7 years, its very dull.
Property market has tanked a bit over the last few years so rental is a buyers market though getting something for 12 months or less may mean a slight premium. Its still an expensive place to live though but public transport is efficient you co can get around OK.
If you get in with the right ex.pat crowd you will get every chance to fishing, kitesurfing etc.

Winter is riding season here, been managing to get a good 100km plus in a week up to this weekend where due to now taking on a new job only a humble 45km was only achieved, just need seed season to be over to make in completely fun.

I prefer spider and snake season to seed season, seeds get everywhere but at least the spiders and snakes try to get out of your way!

    This doesn’t bother the locals.

My MiL does not speak any English, I maintain very limited Cantonese, the result, we get on very well.

Note: she is a lovely lady, from what I can gather.

Live next door to Hongers airport so can leave my apartment and be airside in 25 minutes with hand luggage, digital boarding pass and using my HKID to get through immigration. For UK flights with hand luggage and pre-checkin I would leave at least 60 minutes for airports like Southampton and Bristol, at least 90 for Manchester or Birmingham, for the biggies like Gatwick or Heathrow all bets are off due to security, especially if using LHR T3.

Troy Lee and Loose Riders apparel, yes not a bike brand but related, its so de rigueur around here it just puts me off, its like some kind of uniform people seem to think they have to wear when they buy a bike.
*they both seem like good gear and my friends really rate them so irrational on my part.

Orange bikes, yeh, we get it, you like to ride a single pivot bike made of cast iron that looks like it was build in a 1050’s welding college.

I go by the rule of a minimum of two sets of everything, shoes, helmets, gloves etc so that if needed I can get out on two days in a row, I don’t have a dryer so everything takes at least 24 hours to dry here in HK.

However I do have far too many Jerseys and Shorts and do really need to have a cull but all that usually happens is when I do have my yearly cull I end up replacing every item thrown away with something new but different.

This is the start of the real riding season in Honkers as the weather starts to get bearable for long days out in the saddle.
Had a pleasant 45km loop out on Lantau with another STWer (even met another on semi-post ride drinks), got me in the mood for Chiang Mai on Wednesday.

Glowrom lites[/url], hardy, great batteries, lots of mounting options and good size plus its like you carrying around your own miniature sun.
Have both an X2 (1700 lumens) and an XS (2500 Lumens), best lights I have ever used, even used my X2 for a recent night trail run race that went on over 9 hours, battery didn’t even get past half power (admittedly I was running at 50% power).

If you like Chinese food you will be in hog heaven here though there’s restaurants from every corner of the world if you look and all at worst a 45 minute metro or taxi ride away at most.
Despite the impression people have of huge megastructures and lack of private space its 60% country parks so there’s lots of places to get out and ride.
Nightlife, culture and Asian exotisim all in one melting pot, being one of the most famous cities in the world its almost a match for Swindon (where I was born and lived the early years of my life).

Zokes – HOng kong – not all of it was leased and anyway we could have refused to hand over

The New Territories was the leased part that was due to be handed back to China (Kowloon, Lantau etc), however without the New Territories Hong Kong would be a little stuck for electricity and water (let alone an airport as that at the time was on the Kowloon side).
Once we had finagled a made up passport for the locals to kind of make them feel safe after the handover, the BNO, to keep HK made no sense…..and Zhao Ziyang did say he could easily just march his army over any way and take it.

What happen to the Chagos Islanders is of a different sort of immorality.

As for the question on the Falklands, all its takes is another defense cut and all bets are off again.

Used to be very addicted to getting into the top ten of segments then found I was not enjoying my riding one iota, now I use it mainly to just see how I am doing and track my mileage, for both MTB and running.
One thing I have done now is create some segments based on my favorite mountain bike trails, from end to end, so these are usually 8 to 10km long so tend not to attract the typical mountain bike KOM fanatics who prefer the sprints.
