I cheated, that’s not on Lantau, or Hong Kong for that matter (from a holiday snap in China).

Chinglish in action, at least you can kind of get the idea, more so than trying to read the Cantonese only.

Cheers for the replies, despite not wanting to go down the dual boot option I may try that first.
Injured and unable to ride this weekend so this is what I am doing for kicks (rock n roll).

Just fancy trying something new but don’t want to spend a weekend trying to get the speakers to work!
Is a complete install and fettle possible in under a few hours?

they are horribly bigoted who have only ever lived in villages and have zero world experience at all but still believe they understand all of the worlds ills better than anyone. I have to listen to ill informed, ignorant POV on everything and anything.

And then you come here afterwards :-)

Keep a glass of water by the side of the bed for those post coital cleaning moments, saves money on baby wipes, heated shower water and soap plus it means your curtains and bed sheets don’t need cleaning for another day.

I’m British but I don’t ride mine in Britain but use it for basically everything from all-dayers to the odd DH park.
Its not for everyone with its long top-tube and it takes a little speed for the suspension setup at the rear to start working, but I have to say its the best bike I have ever owned.
Not cracked or broken mine and I’m a good 90kg and ride it 2-3 times a week, had mine for 10 months now without any issues.
We don’t get as much mud as the UK in winter but mines survived a particular muddy trip to Japan and our very wet (and muddy) summer without any bearing issues.

Also, get the carbon, they don’t look to bad!.

Oh, and as Kiwijohn said, go for Pikes upfront (I soon will be).

Have both GFrom and Endura MT500’s and I tend to use the MT500’s more as I find them comfortable to ride all day and from experience, to be really effective when needed.
Usually also wear GFrom elbow pads for more gnarly stuff (i.e. good chance my limited abilities will let me down on a tough trail) and they do work well.

Because of the long weekend there should be a few groups about, if your on Facebook join the MTB.HK group, there’s usually rides listed an visitors are always welcome, relativity easy to rent a decent bike for the weekend if required.
The guys at HKMBA (Brandon/Kenneth etc) are good guys to know and know all of the trails, good people to hook up with. If your up for some riding over the two weekend your welcome to PM me as well, email in my profile.
Even though its starting to chill a bit here I recommend a minimum 2-3 liter bladder, it does get hot when you start riding and can be a pain if your not used to the humidity.

Regarding the tourist side, most has been listed above, the minimum you should do is the Star Ferry across Victoria Harbor and a trip to The Peak.
Public transport is cheap and the MTR is one of the best transport system in the world, plus you can take a bike on it (just remove the front wheel).
Recommend you get an Octopus card at the MTR desk at the airport arrival hall, this is the same as an Oyster card but also enables you to purchase good in some shops so useful to have one, you can hand it back and get your deposit returned when you leave (deposit is 50 HKD).

Enjoy your stay, Hong Kong is one of the most amazing cities in the world to live and has a surprising amount of country parks to explore as well.

They were bemoaning the lack of trails, but really not sure what action they were going to get up by Conduit Road

Maybe going for a little spin up to the Peak, that’s what a lot on my HK Island based buddies do to keep fit!
Mind you, I don’t mind the odd climb up to the Ngong Ping Buddha either, its all riding and tackling these long steep climbs (though tarmaced) all helps to improve your riding.

Maybe CFH is going through some sort of Shallow Hal treatment, as noted above the DW links just don’t add to the aesthetic.

Sad to see this series go, but also glad that there are still some high quality TV out there to watch, here to the Saul spin-off.

Your lucky if you have the option to choose, here we have limited access to ‘legal’ trails and the ones that are open are limited in length (despite the good work of the HKMBA).

I would love the option of a local bike park to faff around at on occasion.

Always wanted one of these on my driveway….

    Would settle for this though

Porches, Ferrari’s etc are alright, but I kind of like the more utilitarian look.

Plan to just keep the M5 in place as it works, may get some novelty deer tusks made up with M5 studs for the Christmas ride as well ;)

Kayak, nowt, just some waffle about it being a new product and it takes time to make parts available.
In the meantime an M5x12 Bolt is doing the job.

Enjoying mine, I ride in high temperature and humidity and the venting is very effective, and being able to ride with goggles is proving to be very useful.
Highly recommend it though its a bit tight at the side when choosing to wear glasses.

Newbury-Hong Kong for 1.5 years before I finally decided to just commit and move to HK.
I was lucky in that my job meant that I was in HK every 2-3 months (that’s how I met her) and she would pop over to me where possible, it’s tough but you can’t choose who you fall for.
It’s all an adventure, I say enjoy the times together but one of you will have move, if we had gone on for another year I couldn’t see it lasting.
In all fairness, it wasn’t a tough choice leaving Newbury for HK!

Chances are that piece of clothing will be binned, cant see it being cost effective to return shorts to the factory for repair, so no.

From my experience of doing bar work in the 90’s most of the bouncers seemed to be part of the local drug gangs and were doing the bouncing side as a way to control the supply in the clubs.
Most I knew seemed OK and not keen to cause too much trouble, resolving most problems quickly without violence, less chance of the police being involved that way.

My old maths teacher used to wear a Martin baker tie, turned out he earned it being ejected from a Jet Provost.

Is that tenuous enough to the OP’s thread?

With the advent of people having instant access to cameras in mobile phones meaning that UFO, Lock Ness and Yeti stories can no longer reasonably be believed I’m guessing the same people that used to peddle that bollox are now moving on to conspiracy theories?

Got the cane twice, very early on when I started secondary school, in all fairness I deserved it as I was a gobby Sh**.
It did not affect me that much as don’t remember changing my ways, it wasn’t like I went to some tough inner school hellhole (it was leafy surrey) and I didn’t really change my ways until may late 20’s/early 30’s anyway so I would say its effect was very, very minimal.

Managed to get out for a solo ride on Sunday and ride a local Lantua trail I have not done in a long time, unfortunately I also forgot what hard work it was to get to, and to ride in 30plus weather.
Recent Typhoons had caused some serious erosion but in this case I thought it made in more interesting, also bumped into a fellow solo rider I knew so we stopped halfway for a beer on Pui O beach……

Heading back I did really feel the heat a bit after taking a cheeky trail diversion back that turned into a jungle adventure as everything had grown over through lack of use.
Finished the day tired and happy, as it should be.

Seat, VW and Skoda, why not just badge everything Audi and pass the savings in simplifying 4 distinct production lines of the sames cars to the customers?
