The wife is gonna kill me!

No she wont, at worst she will not speak to you for a while, bonus, as this means you can ride your new SB66c more :D

Have been lucky in that my best buddy was a tailor on Savile Row for a while so got some very expensive suits for trade prices, I guess the most I have paid away from that for a nice bespoke in Hong Kong at 600GBP.
Expensive for a suit in HK but it was very good material, a nice silk cotton mix.

For all those planning to hit the powder, I wonder what your paranoia will be like after a few weeks, will everyone be after your money, those hookers are going to need to e quick to get out alive?

I guess I would be like most people, a couple of nice houses dotted around the world, some nice cars and n+100 bikes.

Saving Private Ryan always brings me to tears after the opening 20 minutes, how could they ruin a film that starts of that well?
Always felt that Apocalypse Now, Casualties of War and The Deer Hunter were stories that just happened to have the Vietnam war in the background.
Full Metal Jacket is the only Vietnam movie shot entirely in the UK.

I was looking for a bash guard for the chainring anyway since some of my trails have a lot of sections were you have to roll over rocks meaning the BB and chainring make contact with planet earth very often so the MRP AMG guide/guard seemed perfect, no dropped chains since so I can assume its doing its job.
Current thoughts about snapping chain links, I have now broken 4 in a few months (riding 15-30km x 2 a week), is the chain length when the the rear suspension is fully compressed is not long enough, going to look at this soon and adjust accordingly to see if that’s the case.
I would like to put this down to being a gnarr rider and always taking it to the max, but even I don’t believe that!

Despite these little teething problems I don’t regret the putting XX1 on my bike, just the price.

Hi Rob, try this…Problem Solver Bracket Mount

Apart from restricting how you position the levers its a very simple solution and keeps the handlebar clutter free.

Currently alternating between 30t and 32t at the front as i am not 100% sure at the moment which is better for my day to day riding.
Currently experiencing some chain issues which may be related to its length, hope to resolve that soon but otherwise impressed with it, and despite living in an area where there are some very seep climbing required I have not really found I missed the granny gear provided by my earlier 2×10 XT setup (which was also very good).

Have thrown a chain a couple of time so have invested in an MRP AMG top chain guide and BB bash which seems to do a good job on the rocky trails I ride.

Bought one of those combined bracket mounts just to keep the XT brakes and XX1 shifter nice and neat on the handlebar.

Happy so far bar a few chain breaks I have experienced which I believe is related to my chain length, though it could be cheaper.

Indonesia is the most populated Muslim country in the world, probably something to do with that?

I have no idea what my MiL is saying most of the time as she doesn’t speak English and my Cantonese is a bit limited, perfect!

A Philippino friend got 57% without ever being there, of course as a Southerner I explained to him what it was all about.

General rule of thumb is 30%, so 30% rent/mortgage, 30% bills (inc food) and 30% savings, 10% to spunk.
If your salary fits in with that be happy, enjoy life and remember the man (or women) who dies in debt, did their sums right.

The Philippines will cope the worst of it, it should die down a little over the South China Sea and may even divert a little more towards China, they never usually go exactly to plan.
If, or when, it hits Vietnam it should be down to a mere Typhoon ;)

I’m leaving everything to my bike, there is also a stipulation that my wife will be allowed to stay in the house and be provided basic dietary needs, as long as she washes the bike every week and leaves it in the lounge.

Chrisi, will try to get time to get back to my LBS to look at this in more detail, sadly it will be a couple of weeks due to lack of free time and other commitments.

Hi Chrisi, no, everything is fine with both my bump stop and the Switch eccentric is in the right position.
    Cheers for the feedback.

+1 for the Bell Super, comfortable with good overall coverage and I have found it to be reasonably cool (as in temperature) when riding over a long period.
The ability to wear goggles with it are also useful when the trail gets a bit muddy or dusty.

Did 2 years of long distance before marrying, MrsC was in Hong Kong, me in the UK.
It was difficult but we stuck together, now married for nearly 4 years and happily living in HK.
Sometime these type of relations work, sometime they don’t, the important thing is you enjoy the moment, the future will look after itself.

Bike shop fitted and they can’t figure out what is happening, the chain seems fine and I not heard any issues with XX1 and Yeti SB66c’s.
Currently have my 4th power link fitted, the last break literally saw a complete link just snap and go flying off into the bushes (never managed to lose a whole link before, they usually leave something left hanging in).
Gear changes seem to be fine generally but each break is usually preceded with the feeling that the chain is slipping seconds before.

Managed to also ‘pop’ a seal on my new Pike a few weeks ago in the 2nd ride, maybe need to review my technique, never had these problems with Shimano or Fox.

Nice and steady, did my 1st 21k this year at 2 hours 4 minutes and like to run 4k in the morning (22 mins) before breakfast when I can. Looking at trail running now to go alongside biking as I have found the road running really helping my riding stamina, want to improve my overall fitness and it looks fun.
