Used to live just off Sandy lane also, and as said above, its only the town center that lets the area down, its relatively nice compared to a lot of other places.
I’m surprised they never developed the local airport into something more major instead of getting a 3rd runway at Heathrow, there are some good transport links there.
As for the Tumbledown, went in there a few times in the 90’s but I used to work the bar at the Agincourt in Camberley, that was a far worse experience.

Just seen this in the Guardian, does it qualify (around the 2:20 mark)?

Raised in Aldershot and spent most of my early working years in Farnborough (and my first flat in Cove), I am never in a rush to return to either. Is Farnborough town centre still the same since the 90’s, I remember it being grim back in 98 when I was last there?

Has there been any decent films about Hannibal and his campaigns in Italy, think I have seen some made for TV stuff but nothing major?

Enjoyed it a lot, not been so hooked since Breaking Bad.
With plot, structure and good acting you don’t need car chases or myriad story lines to keep people riveted throughout.
A little disappointed with the ending (no spoilers) but the journey made the destination worthwhile.

I have blue eyes and am completely lightweight on either, however if you want to finance further studies I’m happy to help your medical research.

About 1 hour climb over a mountain from my apartment….

Sadly most of it is cheeky

Nice day out on Saturday doing some good AM in Tai Mo Shan and Tai Lam Cheung, lots of cheeky trails in 26 degree heat, nice.
Then a little trail running on Sunday, saw my first big snake of the year and judging by its size it looks like there will be a bumper crop this year……

Polystyrene, specifically the noise of it rubbing against anything or together.
I try to get the wife to unpack any new stuff wrapped in it, it does fill me full of dread.

I often suggest the airport hotels to friends staying as the local transportation means it’s a short trip into the tourist spots.
Do you have a budget in mind as there is a lot of choice?

Since posting my SB66c/XX1 combo 4 months ago now moved to a Pivot Mach6

Gone from 30t to 28t at the front to help with the steep climbing around where I ride.

Watched Mad Max 2 the other day for the first time in maybe 12-15 years, not a high-brow choice but boy was it still good…..and now in HD.

Its good to see Air France mentioned, they truly stitched me up with a 2.6k economy flight to Hong Kong during the 2010 Volcano shenanigans, I mean, I only wanted to get my wedding so why not string me up by my b***s.
And for anyone who has to deal with PCCW here, there is a special place in consumer hell reserved for them, pay for 20MB, get 1.5 but since they have a monopoly on my apartment, go whistle!

Big fan of the Mavic Alpines, on my 3rd set now and looking at a 4th set to alternate my existing ones.
Comfortable, even to walk with SPDs, good grip and easy to dry, they are also cool enough for me to ride in during the HK summer.
Apart from a few tabs, there is no garish color schemes, plus they seem to work with both 26″ and 650b so must be ‘Enduro’ ready!

Just moved to a Mach6 from a Yeti SB66c, and not regretting it at all, it is easy to pedal up and is very sure footed coming down.
Built mine up with XX1/XTR build and it comes in at 12.28kg without carbon wheels.
To be honest, these days its difficult to buy a bad bike, just one that doesn’t suit what you plan to ride.

Saw a well stocked Specialized dealer in Bangalore a few weeks ago, didn’t get a chance to check out Mumbai while there unfortunately.

Well, just bought a Mach6 a couple of weeks ago, good luck with your saving as you will need plenty of it!

Hi Iain, probably at Hoi Poi village after a quick bike clean, after riding TMS we usually head back to local MTR station (Kam Sheung Road) to head home.
Next time your in town join the group, there are always different groups riding in different parts of the territory.
FBJ, Steve is probably your best bet, I’m sure he know every trail in HK and after riding with you will know the best for you.

Looks like all you have your answers, if your on that Facebook a load of us usual post rides up on the MTB.HK group and your welcome to join, usually a few different groups riding.

12.28kg with pedals, I imagine that if I had spent a little more on carbon rims it could come down more but its probably cheaper, and better, to save weight by going on a diet.

Have posted pics in the ‘show me your Enduro etc’ thread but just picked up a medium Pivot Mach6 that comes in at 12.2kg, sorry, on my iPhone so too much hassle to link pics.

Haha LoCo, lots of good bikes out there, was going for a Giant Trance Advanced SX but the distributor in Hong Kong doesnt seem to know when they would arrive (or if any) so opted for plan B, the Mach6.
A Nicolai ION16 (long lead time) and a Bronson C (everyone here has one!)running it close.
The SB66c is a long bike so nothing wrong with the Mach6 cockpit apart getting used to a more ‘upright’ riding style, from the little jaunt yesterday it should not be that hard to adjust.

I imagine that is related to test rides, all the bike shops I visited there I have never seen that, where was this shop?
If your after a gander around bike shops, a good place to visit is 33 Ubi Ave 3, 408868 , there are load of them all in the same block.
Start at the large Scott dealer and just walk around the block.

Ok, this should work….Mach6 in stealth mode, yes, you can buy a Pivot without garish stickers all over it.

Picked it up yesterday and did some 34km of various stuff, rock gardens, flowing singletrack, 300mtr climbs etc.
Compared with the Yeti SB66c before it its going to take me a little while to get used to the short cockpit but on the descents, especially the rocky stuff we get in my local area, it felt very assured, just release the brakes and go.
Going to take a little while to get used to the lack of acceleration, though it felt slower than my SB66c Strava seems to says the opposite!

Managed to crack my SB66c frame so thought I’d treat myself, first real ride today and it’s a keeper.
Oops, looks link a link problem, will maybe do something tomorrow.

Go for it, have been very lucky to have a SB66c as my only bike for the last 15 months and loved it.
Used for everything from a little XC (hard work) to DH weekends though some people find the long toptube maybe a little stretched out for their riding style I like it.

Lovely Trance Advanced SX Nick, did have one on order but the local distributor was screwing me over on delivery dates so now going to a Mach6, once I sell my current bike……

Watched that new Superman film the other day and I genuinely thought, wow this is too loud and started getting confused by the final fight scene and all the smashing around.

Also, recovery times, even bruises hurt me for 2 weeks now.

Found my Mavic Alpines to be fine for general walking about, the cleats not standing so proud of the tread, I wouldn’t want to wear them though of the bike for any long period of time though.
