Been riding a Mach6 for the last year and very happy with it as my one and only (wife doesn’t understand n+1) but I would say based on riding a friends, the Giant Trance, its a great value bike that in SX form should cover you for most riding.

Do it on occasion, I find that on hot days its good for both the dust and sweat, and when the humidity is in the high 90’s'(glasses just never seem to de-mist).
I do feel safer wearing them than normal glasses, but most of the time when I’m doing uplift days I would be wearing a FF anyway.

Theres also a Sticky Fingers in East TST, or there used to be?

Tend to stick with drinking in LKF/Soho usually but rule of thumb in Wan Chai, if you go to a down stairs bar or any on Lockhart Road really do keep an eye on your wallet 🙂

For Dim Sum, there a cheap place (Maxims, theres a chain of them) in City Hall, Central that serves tables via trolleys that I would highly recommend.
Simply look at whats passing and point to what you want, its the easiest method to eat good dim sum without having to learn Cantonese.

If you fancy a little trip up into Kowloon then I cant recommend this restaurant enough:

Its in a part of town not visited by tourists and its a local plastic chair place but its very good and have beer girls to boot.
I always bring visitors here and have yet to get any negative feedback, they have one or two English menus tucked away.

If its Spike and his guys your referring to CFH then yes (don’t know his band but he always plays at Amazonia), also some of the Brown Sugar guys who play at Sticky Fingers.
Don’t spend much time in Wan Chai myself, only when friends are over for the 7’s, its not really my scene there but each to their own!

Early morning solo ride around Lantua, hopefully get about 20-30km and 1k of climbing in before I have to report home.
Flying to Singapore the next day and staying for some riding the following weekend (first time there)….bound to hurt something tomorrow to jinx that 🙁

If only for a couple of days do the usual:
    Ferry across Victoria Harbour (TST-Central)
Get up to the Peak for taking the classic shot of HK
Visit the Ngong Ping Buddha via the cable car (its near the airport so you can do it on the way out)
The usual markets, Stanley, the Womens and the Temple Street night markets
Amazonia has been mentioned, the house bands lead singer is a big MTBer as well!

Regarding food, you will be spoil t depending where you are based, feel free to PM me on my profile email if you want to try some real local plastic chair type places that serve the best food?

Moved to Hong Kong nearly 5 years ago due to marriage, the wife had no interest to move to the UK and I was fortunate enough to be able to get firm job offer after working in the region for many years prior to decamping.
I was lucky in that I had years of experience working out here (and throughout SE Asia) and no real ties to the UK bar a couple of close relatives/friends and a mortgage, so the decision to move was relatively easy (I had been going back and forth a lot anyway while in a long distance relationship with the now wife for a couple of years).
You need to consider why you want to move, to get away or to try something new, if its to get away from your current life you may find that the problems just follow you and that a change of attitude or lifestyle is more thats needed.
I would also ensure that there is employment ready for you, moving is tough, even tougher with no money.

Finally, is it all that its cracked up to be, in my case yes, but as in life nothing is that simple and of course it varies, I would say though at least try it, you can always go home if it isn’t (or maybe not, it depends why you want to get away :).

Im so glad that the Chinese Communist party deal with all this sort of stuff for me so I don’t have to worry about it.

I met Yuri Geller in the TGI Fridays toilet in Reading (he bent a spoon for me after at our table) and once sat opposite Martin Keown on the tube….my life feels so empty compared with everyone else.

Made a few Gopro videos and always though that chest mounted is the best, both helmet and handlebar mounts are easier to setup but I like the results you get with a chesty as you get to see the elements a little better (you, bike and the trail).
RE Setup, it kind of depends if you’re a barrel chested gent or not, if barrel chested then I find mounting the camera slightly higher at around nipple height or just place it upside down.

Should be landing at 10pm on new years eve, then join a ride on new years day, a 600mtr climb and then a good technical DH run after should clear the jet lag?

I have looked at getting my wife full citizenship (she is on a Hong Kong BNO passport) in case I ever decide to move back to the UK full time but the hoops you have to jump through look tough.
Good luck with your application but as mentioned above, better to maybe talk to a specialist first.

Many years ago in College, everyone was chatting so there was an audible hum around and difficult to hear anything. Anyway one guy next to my desk was talking about how he was being followed by another mate in their cars, the teacher walks, everyone but him falls immediately silent just as he finishes the sentence ‘and he was right up my arse’.

    1. 2 x Foreign Bike trips (one booked, cant decide the second)
    2. Start riding more mountains, climbing needs to improve
    3. Do an official race or two
    3. Enjoy riding even more

I was always told the best way to go faster was to go smoother, don’t concentrate on speed, concentrate on how you approach and deal with the trail before you.

Instead I bought some yellow shoes….

Managed to write-off an SB66c front triangle earlier this year (actual crash not production related) but it wasn’t something that I was too bothered about as it kind of goes with the territory of mountain biking.
If you worried about the cost of the bike then its taking your mind of the pleasure of riding, its the wrong bike for you.

OK, not so much unacceptable as just old fashioned..
Waiting for each episode of a TV series to be aired on Terrestrial/Cable/Satellite TV before you can watch them
The use of Facebook, Tinder etc, in the future we will all have an LED implanted in our forehead showing other people our current status at that moment

Property, I rent out my house in the UK and any money left over from general maintenance (and ensuring there’s money set aside for expensive problems) goes on bike toys.

I dont usually bother but my LBS did it FOC on my current bike, not sure what they used but I swear it wa not invisiframed until I then started to get rock strikes and a little more when I noticed the impact areas.
Worth doing, if not just to ward of the inevitable frame damage a little longer than normal.

    Assuming no kids….

Leave now, why hang around any longer and moving in with your mum (albeit temporarily) even at 29 is not an issue, in fact look at it as a positive, something to drive you on in your career so that you can move to another place.

MET Parachute, poor build quality, never felt comfortable wearing it and then realized I may as well just buy a proper full face which ended up being one of my better buys of 2014, a Giro Cypher.
I’m happier with two helmets, a full face for those downhill days and a IXS Trail for all the other stuff, something that tries to be two things at once will never pull either off successfully*.

    *opinions may vary.

Go to a bike shop. Try some on. Buy the one that feels right. And, crucially, buy it FROM THAT BIKE SHOP.

Fit is so important, also on the recommendations side, the Giro Cypher.
Saved my money maker many a time and well ventilated enough even for SE asia riding.
