+1 for the trusty Ikea bag, to be found in car boots and hallways everywhere there is a muddy rider.

Me, its a slimmed down waterpoof wallet for the essential Credit/Octopus card, ID Card and some cash that goes with me on every ride.

I had to go on a bus today “shudders” as they had closed my local metro station @loughor.
After a couple of weeks of being relatively normal, the setting fire to other people who disagree with your thinking is now making it all a little bit stupid though possibly preferable to wading through the standard Brixit threads here.

Only been to Bali for a bike trip so cannot really give any advice on sightseeing, heard the main bit being to avoid Kuta as its basicaly just a version of any Spainish seaside town but with Australians instead of Brits.
We did 4 days with Infinity Mountain Biking, seemed like a good bunch who do a wide spectrum of different types of rides, mostly XC related.
At the time Bali Bike park was not open, but thats not the case now so that may be a good place to visit if you like some shorter more gnarlier shuttle assisted riding?
Its been over 5 years but pretty sure both are still up and running (internet says yes).
Ride with a few Indonesians in HK and they say mountian bikings really picking up out there, but being Indonesia everything is pretty spaced out and difficult to get to for a tourist.

Instinct user and very happy with it.
There is a lot of choices out there and some watches have too many features or functions, but I find that the Instinct is a solid watch with the functionality that I need for running, riding and hiking. The built in heart rate monitor (not perfect but good enough) and the ability to customize the screen are just what I need.

Biking in Japan is good fun but usualy envolves a fair trek from the airport and you are typicaly in places with not much choices food wise (although Japanese food is the shizzle).
Cant beat a day of riding, following by an onsen session (hot springs) then some lovely Japanese beer.

He wouldnt know, I think hes in deepest darkest Wales at the mo, doudt he even has a TV signal out there.
Unless you were in the protest areas it was all very pleasant today bar high levels of polution caused by a cyclone passing through the area. 10 malls closed due to bomb threats though and 11 MTR (tube) station were also closed near the protest areas, think there were about 3 main ones today with the usual faff associated with them.
All the 3off HK residents that comment here (that I am aware of) are way away from the main areas except on occassion myself as I live near the airport but the police seem to have a handle on that now and we have not seen any major problems for a few weeks.
While out shuttling up in the New Territories the other day we did notice that a lot of the old British army apartments left deserted since 97 have all been spruced up and populated so I suspect troop numbers are definitly up (probably paramilitary police). Also parked up nearby were a lot of army lorries with cages mounted at the back, think dog catcher vans but I suspect they are designed to hold slightly larger prey.

Not Britain centric but worth reading.

Riding is a mental therapy for me.

This for me also. It gets tough in HK over summer, you can ride but its the most unpleasant riding ever (97% humidity, 30+ degrees…when its not raining) so I end up forcing myself out for fitness sake. Now looking forward to the onset of winter and my 6am midweek pootles.

Religion has no place in education, just as facts have no place in religion

    One of favorite Simposns quotes.
I have no kids so shouldnt really comment on education threads but its ridiculous that in this age we allow the state to subsidise or even allow religious schools.

Not a fan of Thailand in general (people great, tourists not so) but Chiang Mai is lovely, try to stay there for a bit.
Its got some ace riding as well with a few companies out there providing guiding services.

Went there for the first time in many, many years earlier this year, did some coaching in the morning then had a 25km pootle around on a hired bike, think I covered most of it?
Admittedly I only have Whistler to compare it with this year for bike trips but I thought it was fine, I wouldn’t go out of my way to travel there (I was visiting my mum down the road) but if its nearby I would happily use it once a month for some XC riding.

Press fit BB’s, never a good experience with them and as a result, having a threaded BB is one of those tick boxes I have when looking at new bikes.
Used to be dead against 29ers but now sold, I guess like any new concept it takes a few generations to really get the benefit out of the original idea and other related tech, I suspect a combination of geometry and rubber in this case (similar to the combustion engine with fuel and Metallurgy)?

Good call, it’s difficult to see just how good the pro’s are but these and the Hot Laps videos really help put it into perspectuce.
Have to say that Gee, and all the other riders, always do see to come across as really friendly and happy to discuss what they do and why.
